About This Game

Explore, craft, and survive in this Multiplayer RPG Platformer with permanent death! Featuring many Rogue-like elements, Magicite randomly generates each underground dungeon for you and your friends to delve deep into. Chop trees, mine ores, and hunt beasts in order to collect the resources and materials you need to survive the harsh and unforgiving environment. With a ton of character traits, stats, companions, and classes, players will have a different experience each play through! Be prepared to die... A LOT.

Magicite's main influences were mainly Monster Hunter and Spelunky. I loved the resource collection and crafting in Monster Hunter, and of course fighting giant monsters with my friends. Spelunky's brutal yet rewarding platforming was also something that I wanted to capture with Magicite.

Features currently implemented:
  • Randomly Generated Dungeons - Experience a new dungeon each time you play. Expect tons of trees to chop, ores to mine, plants to harvest, and bugs to catch! Oh and giant monsters.
  • Permanent Death - The game logs all of your stats in a play through, leading the way for achievements and upgrades.
  • Crafting System - Combine any two items to create a new one! For example, Wood + Wood = Plank. There are tons of combinations to discover!
  • Combat System - If you plan on just running in and swinging you sword, you're gonna get wrecked. Take time to craft useful items and examine enemy positioning before executing a well timed attack.
  • Multiplayer - Want to put your friendships to the test? This is the game to do it! Permanent death only occurs when the ENTIRE party has fallen. So if your buddy gets knocked out feel free to run over and help him back up. Or not...

Upcoming/Planned Features:
  • More Biomes
  • Unlockable Races & Companions
  • Bestiary
  • Achievements
  • Card Collecting
  • More Items and Gear!
  • More Enemies!

I think Magicite is a fun but challenging game, I enjoy playing it. But it has some major problems! I have played Magicite and beaten a few times on my own and thoroughly enjoyed the experience. The same cannot be said though about the multiplayer of Magicite. EVERY time my friends and I try to play this game together (key word being "try") we experience a problem where there is either A) Absoulutely horrible desync or B) The other players simply do not move at all. This is a game breaking problem, especially when it occurs in the middle of a playthrough. I hope that soon this problem is fixed and I am able to enjoy this amazing game with my friends as well as alone. Overall I would reccommend Magicite for its singleplayer but definitely not its multiplayer.

I'm just getting into this game and love it already. Magicite is a combination of Minecraft's crafting, Terraria's sidescrolling monsterfighting and Don't Starve's surviving. Magicite does not help you too much; it gives you some hints, but mostly you have to discover everything by yourself.
You aren't told how to craft things, it only gives you few hints here and there. You have to try by yourself.
The character you start with has random items, which also give you some hints of what you can craft. For example, I once started with a bone bar, and learned that bones can be used in crafting too.
Definitely a good game for anyone who doesn't want to be taught everything and likes Minecraft's hardcore mode. I, personally, don't enjoy Minecraft at all, but the hardcore mode is the best way to play it.
Overall, it's little too pricy, but if you're reading these reviews, you're already probably going to buy it.

This game is a bit like someone took risk of rain and smashed it together with terraria in the simplest way possible. it's fun, but not as good as either of the games it feels like it smashed together, mostly because the rewards for playing are difficult to get in a way that makes continuously playing really disheartening. however, if i could unlock them all at once i would probably also lose interest really quickly. all in all, i think it's definitely worth spending your money on... when it's on sale.

I really recommend Magicite as it is unbelievably fun, even if it doesn't look it. I know that I started playing thinking "Am I going to enjoy this?", but I played for a bit and realised that this game is great - especially with a friend or two to play with.

The crafting is, meh, but I couldn't care less about that. It's a crafting system. They weren't exactly going to add a 3x3 grid and clutter the screen up aswell as making it similar to a certain other game. I've seen a lot of reviews that just talk about the crafting system, but that's just imbecilic: it's not the main point of the game.

Magicite is replayable, over, and over, and over again. It's like Binding of Isaac, but with more pixel-ey graphics, which are infact a lot more pleasant to look at. The graphic type makes it look very inviting as it's simple and makes it seem like the game is simple; which it is, run around, collect stuff, craft, kill stuff, advance in levels, gain skills etc. Aswell as this, the different types of biomes are well thought-out as you can encounter many different monsters, and you can choose which of the 3 random biomes you want to enter, some appearing more than others.

Personally, singleplayer in this game is as much fun as multiplayer. In multiplayer, you've got your friends and all and you can have a laugh, but what's great is that the monsters scale depending on how many people are playing. I realised this when I kept on dieing in multiplayer, but can play almots outstandingly in singleplayer.

Also, the game gives you different types of races, which have different benefits and starting items, and it also gives you hats and companions, both giving you different benefits and both have different ways you can obtain them. One of the hats, the "Robin Hood Hat" as I like to call it, has a 20% unlock chance when you've shot 100 or more arrows in a single playthrough. That gives you the chance to try and complete that challenge, all be it a very easy challenge. However there are some other challenges which are even harder!

The Overworld Helm is unlocked by completing the game and not being hit once. Not once! The Djinn race is unlocked by completing the game and only killing 1 enemy.

As you can see, some challenges are hard, some are easy, which is good as you can start completing these challenges as you get better at the game.

Overall I really recommend Magicite as you will have a lot of fun playing it and it has a lot of replayability. The price that they're asking for is worth it.

Very enjoyable pixilated rogue-like game that can leave you feeling satisfied with a sense of accomplishment or leave you frustrated and on the verge of destroying your computer. Either way this game is in my top 20 games.

An amazing game, for all those that enjoy 2D side scrolling games along with crafting and fighting monsters to survive, this game thrives to keep the player ocupied with learning how to craft certain items and abiltitys (like minecraft). Along with choosing your class by picking your abilitys like magic, melee and ranged attacks in which you get the new choice of an ability every 5 levels, I recomend this game to any one that loves minecraft, side scrolling games and challenging enemys which will put you to the limits!

This is a great game with great gameplay and simple graphics. It is mostly very good with only a few issues.
1) Tutorial for first time players on crafting
2) Trying to get the perfect stats and traits gets quite tedious and should be so that you can select them
3) Lag in multiplayer sometimes

But other than those this game is nearly perfect!
