If there's such a thing as a video game dictionary, you'd find a picture of Meltdown listed under "repetitive design". The mechanics are solid, the graphics decent, and the music almost catchy, but it never changes even a slight bit from the very first level in the game. It's almost as if the developers created a single level and felt that was enough to sustain the entire game, repeating it to incessant amounts to pad the experience which might as well begin and end in the few minutes it takes you to complete the tutorial.

Meltdown is an isometric shooter that favors simplicity for complex mechanics or enemies. Enemy AI is mostly nonexistent, weapons are self explanatory, and the leveling system generous enough that you'll never need to choose between upgrades as you have more than enough points to level them all with more to spare. And if I'm being completely honest, the basic design is actually enjoyable to an extent (at least in coop), but its design is so stagnant, so painfully repetitive that it was literally on the verge of putting me to sleep as I struggled to retain interest while playing through what felt like the exact same level I'd played a dozen times before. Enemies, encounter designs, environments and level layouts; they're all exactly the same from each level to level, leaving on to wonder what exactly the point of continuing is.

Rending progression even more useless, is how you are restricted from so much until you prestige your character (which first requires you level up every skill tree), which then completely erases all progress you've made (including unlocked missions) and expects you to play it all again with nothing more to show for it but a new color on your username. It's incredibly poor design decisions like this that make Meltdown feel as if the developers didn't bother to think how the player would take this forced repetition past that which you experience by default going through the game, as if they expected them not only to endure the grind but actually enjoy it.

To be entirely fair, there are actually a few interesting ideas presented with Meltdown (such as the automatic cover system), but they are so entirely useless that there really is no need for them to be in the game at all. So many elements seem out of place or pointless, making an even bigger case for the game being less than finished or thought out.

Meltdown at its core is a solid, if largely unremarkable, coop focused isometric shooter, but the amount of content it contains wouldn't fill the average demo. It's one of the worst offenders at artificially padding a game's length by reusing the same content I've ever seen, and isn't worth bothering with for anymore than a mindless time waster. Even as that it fails to entertain, with the most enjoyment to be found in the numerous moments the game decides to break and glitch you and enemies onto objects.

Who knew getting stuck on a wall could be so much fun.

This game originated on iOS, and it shows with the grind-centric gameplay. It starts off promisingly enough, a decent twin-stick shooter with satisfying feedback, rolling and cover mechanics, and an upgrade system. Trouble is, that's it. Each new mission is essentially the exact same thing, through the same basic scenario (some generic future industrial rooms), with the same type of gameplay: strafe and shoot. As you level up your weapons, so the enemies level up in strength, which means it actually doesn't feel like you're getting anywhere at all. Really, level 10 feels exactly the same as level 1. The only variety is a gradual reveal of different enemy types, although nothing here will surprise you, and a slow unlocking of weapons and armour that you have to upgrade with coins and upgrade tokens. It's here that the iOS origins really show, this quest for coins that you gradually amass, the need to repeatedly play the same levels to find the right tokens to upgrade your weapons, so you can keep up with the enemies. Around level 10 is when the game introduces stun-lock enemies that are a massive pain in the butt, and very hard to avoid as they travel quite a bit faster than you can, and take some putting down. That was about as much as I could take. I'm sure you could get a couple of hours out of this, but that's not enough to recommend it.

Now I don't always aim to fully complete games... But for this game how could I say now?... I first purchased this back in the time of Early Access... After trying to get used to the controls with my keypad I taught there was some issues... This game reminds me a lot like LOADED from PS ONE ... As it runs on Linux I decided to try boot it up and try the controller again, after a while I finally realised how stupid I was and mapped the controls... Having not played much during the Early Access I started playing, and playing and playing... Although it is a repetitive game it still is awesome... This is one game (the other being South Park) which I will aim to 100% get the achievments, even though usually I don't care to much about that on PC but I am enjoying this game so much I think I may as well go for it... I rarely play any games on the computer anymore and with this game I just want to keep playing and levelling up... If you don't own this game right now and like games such as LOADED and top down shooters I highly recomment picking this one up... Even the pricetag is cheap, I just hope some DLC is added also... Score - 8.5/10

This game is a really great and fun arcade shooter. Already played it a lot of hours and recorded some videos of it. It's still in Early Access so it's really cheap now. With some upcoming updates, it's a must-have for every gamer! The online function is really cool, with up to 3 other players you can beat all the Missions! Great but simple game.

EDIT: For an Android Port , this game is doing good so far , it has 100% redefinable keys , the graphics are great , i can compare the gameplay to ( Bastion ) its a lot similar to that game , but not with the same story ofcourse
There are a alot of weapons to choose from , and can be upgraded , 3 hero class skill trees Medic soldier and specialist, you can choose 2 range weapons to switch between and 1 melee to brawl with
so far i see 30 missions with the caption of ( Coming soon ) hencing they would add more
Once you reach level 30 with your character you can play ( wave attack ) which is basically a survival mode
Quick play mode : randomly generates a mission based on your Skills , which is pretty cool and gives a great challenge

to talk about the Online gameplay of the game , so far so good i guess , it doesnt have a chat system yeah .. i hope they'd added that later on , still on early access lets not forget that
ah you cant really stay in the same host with a friend to play the missions over and over , you just choose which mission you wanna play and then find hosts , its easy to find servers really and it was just newly released so thats a great sign , you can join on-going games or host your own, or just simply press the ( Y ) button ( not sure which on keyboard ) to go offline and play singleplayer to get scores or whatever you want
Skill binding tree is good , not really that creative or many things to pick on from but good enough for an early state i guess , altho i compared it to bastion but that wast really just on the outer game like the way character moves and such not the same story like game or other features but it kinda has the same engine with melee weapon + range weapon and switching between. there is a prestiege mode
i would rate this game a 8/10 judging on the few things i did not like this game is really great and i like it , would really love to see how it launches later on with all the features they are going to add

a thumbs down to the one bad feature , everytime you level up the game goes slow motion and zooms to your character , and i played it online we were 4 , everytime someone levels up it zooms in to him with slow motion which is kinda really .. annoying :| well i guess the game is pretty great except for this part
