About This Game

Widely known in small circles as AntiSquad, they are a military tactical response unit. These hardened military professionals, tired of bureaucracy, politics and serving the armed forces, have established a private paramilitary formation located in south United States. Being true military professionals, they periodically execute contracts for jobs that may not be considered “clean”.

The Team consists of many complex individuals with their own back story, but they do not shun mercenary applicants. Members of the team are idealists; they dwell on moral issues, as well as question blind nationalism, etc. AntiSquad strongly differ from military units. They truly are a bunch of contradictions put together - heartfelt cynics, gregarious egoists, aggressive pacifists, and phlegmatic rebels all under one banner.

I tried to like Antisquad. I really tried. On the positive side, the music and art style reminds me a tiny bit of the Evil Genius aesthetic. Aside from that, however, everything else about the game has been a huge let down.

Antisquad is extraordinarily tedious to play. The interface and controls are clunky. It feels like no effort was put into adapting the controls to something PC gamers would be comfortable with. Every action requires far too much clicking and fussing, and every moment spent with the game is a reminder that Antisquad was designed for mobile devices rather than the PC.

UI and control gripes aside, the gameplay itself doesn't measure up to what you'd expect from a Tactical TBS game on the PC. There isn't even a cover mechanic in the game -- everyone simply stands around out in the open, exchanging gunfire. If that wasn't bad enough, you'll also need to grind for gold coins in order to upgrade your mercs and open lockboxes. Because mobile port.

I have to be brutally honest here... Even Jagged Alliance: Flashback was a better Tactical TBS than Antisquad. Just think about that for a minute before you spend any money on this.

Simple, cheap and stylised. Good for a filler game when you want to just switch off. Unfortunately grindy as a side-effect of its mobile roots, and there are some language issues. Still worth the time.

I am not recommending this one.

Pros:
- nice cartony graphics
- looks good at first hour and promises nice and smooth gameplay
- music is nice
- this strange armor points system (1 armor point takes all of the damage from one attack) gives something to think about when planning moves and attacks

Cons:
- controls are laggy and not precise, the pointer is BIG, it's hard to point to one dot where my characters need to move. Misclicks can happen
- camerawork is poor
- turns take a really long time to finish, there is not much dynamism in this tactical turn game
- in-game currency micro-payments tend to kill this game quickly

Overall this game promises a lot, but fails to deliver. It seemed to me like this was a game made for mobile devices, not desktop. I like good tactical games (UFO comes to mind), but it is not worth to play this one. There are better games. ”Hardwest” is on the horizon...

The game could be fun, i've tried to pick it up several times. But its pretty obvious, the game was meant to goad you into buying coins in order to upgrade your team members. Earning coins without completing missions is next to impossible and completing missions without upgrading is...difficult even on "easy" It could be fun but its just like everyone else says, its a mobile game port.

Is obviously a game designed for tablets and the PC version hasn't been thought out at all. The controls are a pain to use, and it even says "tap here" a lot of the time.

Very lazy port.
