Om dette spillet

Widely known in small circles as AntiSquad, they are a military tactical response unit. These hardened military professionals, tired of bureaucracy, politics and serving the armed forces, have established a private paramilitary formation located in south United States. Being true military professionals, they periodically execute contracts for jobs that may not be considered “clean”.

The Team consists of many complex individuals with their own back story, but they do not shun mercenary applicants. Members of the team are idealists; they dwell on moral issues, as well as question blind nationalism, etc. AntiSquad strongly differ from military units. They truly are a bunch of contradictions put together - heartfelt cynics, gregarious egoists, aggressive pacifists, and phlegmatic rebels all under one banner.

My hope was something like XCom or Shadowrun, both are different but both have tight and fun turn based combat. Antisquad is just a massive letdown that I had given up on after about 20 minutes

I can't even be bothered to idle it for the cards!!!

I really wanted to like this game. The overall art and visual character design is awesome. The individual characters have a lot of unique personality. The systems, UI and combat are incredibly tedius. They throw so many ideas, menus and characters at you within the first 20 min that it can be very overwhelming. Everything takes twice as many clicks as it should. The lethality is very high so enemies and your characters die within 1-2 hits in most cases. Its obvious this was originally designed to be a free to play, cashgrab game because of the wildly expensive coin system. Anti Squad has a ton of potential, but the design fell way short of being a good game.

Simple, cheap and stylised. Good for a filler game when you want to just switch off. Unfortunately grindy as a side-effect of its mobile roots, and there are some language issues. Still worth the time.

I am not recommending this one.

Pros:
- nice cartony graphics
- looks good at first hour and promises nice and smooth gameplay
- music is nice
- this strange armor points system (1 armor point takes all of the damage from one attack) gives something to think about when planning moves and attacks

Cons:
- controls are laggy and not precise, the pointer is BIG, it's hard to point to one dot where my characters need to move. Misclicks can happen
- camerawork is poor
- turns take a really long time to finish, there is not much dynamism in this tactical turn game
- in-game currency micro-payments tend to kill this game quickly

Overall this game promises a lot, but fails to deliver. It seemed to me like this was a game made for mobile devices, not desktop. I like good tactical games (UFO comes to mind), but it is not worth to play this one. There are better games. ”Hardwest” is on the horizon...

I tried to like Antisquad. I really tried. On the positive side, the music and art style reminds me a tiny bit of the Evil Genius aesthetic. Aside from that, however, everything else about the game has been a huge let down.

Antisquad is extraordinarily tedious to play. The interface and controls are clunky. It feels like no effort was put into adapting the controls to something PC gamers would be comfortable with. Every action requires far too much clicking and fussing, and every moment spent with the game is a reminder that Antisquad was designed for mobile devices rather than the PC.

UI and control gripes aside, the gameplay itself doesn't measure up to what you'd expect from a Tactical TBS game on the PC. There isn't even a cover mechanic in the game -- everyone simply stands around out in the open, exchanging gunfire. If that wasn't bad enough, you'll also need to grind for gold coins in order to upgrade your mercs and open lockboxes. Because mobile port.

I have to be brutally honest here... Even Jagged Alliance: Flashback was a better Tactical TBS than Antisquad. Just think about that for a minute before you spend any money on this.

Tons of potential, characters seem like fun. But that is it. I really tried over and over to play this game, but there is no reason. All your guys are pretty much 2 hit kills, most of the characters are useless. The two scouts get killed almost instantly and since enemies almost always counterattack, they always get merced right away. The two snipers are immobile as well as the heavy guys. The two usefull characters, the main guy and the french sapper, are both boring to begin with, and it just makes gameplay slow, repetetive, and boring. Like I said, it has potential, fun soundtrack, fun characters (Except those two), could be fun gameplay. The problem is balance. There is none. Unless you wanna grind mission one 500 times to get enough gold to upgrade one characters one base stat. I am a pretty big fan of the turn base genre, and this game just isn't fun. I really really REALLY tried to like it cause the characters seem really cool, fun art style, and man the music is great!

The game is good for short tactical plays, where you have to puzzle out how to eliminate all your enemies. But i'm missing tension and atmosphere while doing so. Some Dialogue apart from the written one would have helped...

I am over 12 years old, so I really couldn't get into this.

It's basically electronic G.I.Joe action figures mixed with the plot of every action movie from the 1980s. You couldn't find anything more generic outside of a Post It Note factory.

Economy straight out of every Facebook game. Oh who are we kidding, the whole thing will probably end up copied by Zynga at some point.

Antisquad looks like a pretty fun little squad based tactical game. However, before you start playing, there are some differences between Antisquad and other quality games which you should know about:

First and foremost, excessive clicking is required. It appears that this game was made for phones or tablets. Now, maybe this is only true during the lengthy tutorial, but I wouldn't know. I never got past the game holding my hand as if I were a semi-♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ child.

Duuuurrrrr...I mean secondly, the tutorial. During the tutorial the game will only allow you to do exactly as the game instructs you. Even if you click somewhere else, nothing happens. I will note that Antisquad does a very adept job at telling you how the game works during the first mission, but after that I firmly believe they should leave you alone. Instead, going into the second mission the game is still like that creepy uncle that just hangs around and wants to hold your hand. I did not make it past the second mission because, personally, I prefer to figure games out on my own, at my own pace, and am not afraid of failing miserably once or twice while doing so. Though, with the simplicity of Antisquad, I doubt even the most mentally challenged gamers will fail to complete missions successfully from what I've seen.

In conclusion, the game is graphically appealing and may even be fun. I just can't help but feel a little violated after all of the excessive hand holding and whisperings of sweet nothings in my ear as I attempt to play.

10/10 GOTY

It's a tablet/mobile game. And I hate when they try to sell me such a game as a Computer game.
They made a game for one plataform and now whan to gain more money from it.

Stay away from this, you can find way better tactical strategy games, made for computer.

I was pretty hyped when this game was launched and made it a priority to play it but when I did, I was thoroughly disappointed.

The game has great potential with nice graphic style, unique character with different skills and play style, weapons and items but killed off due to bad port system. This was initially a mobile game with a Free to Play model. As you can already imagine, you have to grind or pay to quickly get access to premium weapons and characters. That part was not balanced and ruined the entire game.

The interface was not polished for PC as well so it can get rather annoying when preparing your mercenaries. The story is rather simplistic to the point that you won't give a damn. Game play is simple and repetitive leading to under utilization of your mercenaries potential.

I highly do not recommend this title even if it comes cheap unless you are in it for the cards which is a pain the butt to collect since the drop rate is extended.

I tried to like this game. I really did. I consider myself somewhat competent when it comes to turn-based tactical games, especially RPGs, but I find myself struggling at even the lowest difficulty setting. One false move of one of your squad members can mean their death, even with full health and defense. Apparently this is a port of a mobile game and I imagine there would be microtransations to upgrade your squad members, but since there is none of that here, all you can really do to upgrade your one-hit-one-kill crew is grind missions over and over to afford the upgrades using the in-game currency. And in all honesty, that is not a lot of fun no matter how you look at it.

The final nail in the coffin for me was when I earned the "A Run of Bad Luck" achievement which is awarded for five consecutive unsuccessful attempts at a mission. No game should EVER give you an achievement for a multiple failure condition.

The game could be fun, i've tried to pick it up several times. But its pretty obvious, the game was meant to goad you into buying coins in order to upgrade your team members. Earning coins without completing missions is next to impossible and completing missions without upgrading is...difficult even on "easy" It could be fun but its just like everyone else says, its a mobile game port.

NOTE: Review is complete now. Played through the game in its entirety. Additions are in italics.

First things first, the price is right. Regardless of quality, you can seldom go wrong when you see a price like this. The art style of the game is fantastic. It's not something I'd expect from a game with a price tag this low.

The second thing I noticed is the music. I spent some time sitting at the main menu eating my lunch before I got into playing, just listening to the music. Many people don't realize it, but music is a very important aspect to both film and games, and it helps set the mood. XCOM, for example. in the height of combat, features a pounding bassline. Depending on your preference, Antisquad one-ups it, opting for a full symphony orchestra, to accomplish the same thing and more.

Third, the game sets you off with an optional tutorial, making it easy for players new to the genre to pickup the game and get playing. Many of the old games in the genre don't do much in the way of training, and instead require you to read through enormous manuals (think X-com UFO Defense and Jagged Alliance 2),

Alright, first off, this game utlizes the Action Point system, like Jagged Alliance and X-Com: UFO Def, it does not use movement style of XCOM:EU/EW, which makes perfect sense, certain classes would be hilariously over/underpowered otherwise. Speaking of classes, there are eight characters to choose from, making up five different classes (the classes that double-up have unique abilities which make them different than the character who shares its class), and all of them have their place. Squad size is limited to three, as a result, different character combinations will all yield extremely different styles of play.

As for general play itself, there is no hit/miss system, nor cover system. So when it comes to tactical elements, your options are to just skirt outside enemy sight range, and to kite the enemy. You have vision over entire map, which allows you to set a plan of attack, and a plan is definitely needed. Enemies, as far as I can tell, have comparable stats, the only advantages you have are your unique character abilities, and the ability to revive your fallen allies. Needless to say, these advantages are absolutely critical to mission success, due to the fact that on the hardest difficulty, hell, you are hilariously outnumbered and outgunned.

As for character progression, you earn gold with the completion of each mission and for each enemy you kill. (Be warned, if you fail a mission you may actually lose gold, so avoid biting off more than you can chew, and keep to the lower difficulties at first if you just want to progress through the game). With you gold you can upgrade your characters' weapons, armor, as well as individual stats, such as health, number of actions points, etc. It can also be used to purchase consumables such as health packs, temporary stat boosts, etc.

Complaints

One of my minor complaints with the game thus far, is the inability to alter the control scheme in-game. The game currently offers a launcher in which you can adjust video quality, resolution, and your controls, but nothing the actual game has been launched.

Another problem I have is that you can get gold by posting on twitter and facebook. The game doesn't go out of its way to shove twitter and facebook integration down your throat, it just mentions it casually, but I tend to dislike games that provide advantages by using social media. (Though I can't blame the developers wanting to get the word out about their game!)

After progressing through the game, the quality of dialogue has deteriorated immensely. Some games I play for the story, others for the gameplay, some for both. This game falls more in the middle of those three categories, so it's not an end-all. The game tries to have a story, and it's not too difficult to make sense of, it's just not put together very well in that regard, though it can very easily be fixed in later patches.

Having beaten the game on "Hell" difficulty (the hardest difficulty), there needs to be an additional difficulty unlocked once you've beaten all missions on "Hell", it's just too easy once your squad is upgraded. Every single mission is effortless, with the exception of one, Losing Control. That mission is absurdly difficult, even with a fully upgraded squad. If every mission were around that level of difficulty on the next difficulty setting, the game would be incredibly challenging.

Lastly, there are bugs here and there, which is to expected in beta. I haven't encountered any bugs in actual gameplay, only in the menus, which is great, as it hasn't impeded my gameplay. The bug: skills and stats can be upgraded. Action points can be upgraded 8 times, +5 each time. I believe I was only able to upgrade it 7 times on one character, yet it yielded +10 on one upgrade, so technically the end result was the same, just getting there was just quicker. I have encountered another bug which does effect character stats: if you have a soldier with an upgraded weapon and/or armor, and they drop into a bleedout, upon revival they lose the stats from the items for the remainer of the mission (though this makes perfect sense and is fair were it intended).

tl;dr All in all, it's a fun game, with lots of replayability. If you're even the slightest bit interested in the genre, you can't go wrong with picking this up, especially for the price. Hell, I've already spent 20 hours on the game, a 1:5 dollars spent:hours played ratio. I definitely got my moneys worth, even if I am mostly done playing the game until the next update.

While the game is cheap and can kind of fun at times, it inevitably gets dragged down by its major flaw: it gets boring pretty fast.

See, this is a port of an iPad game that featured microtransactions. And, although they're no longer present in the PC port, you can still see their influence in the design of the game, because you either grind your way through the same missions over and over again just so you can afford the upgrades to beat the harder levels or... well, with no microtransactions at all there's not even an alternative, you either grind those upgrades or you're not going anywhere.

So, if you want a good turn-based strategy game, try something else. Preferably something that was actually built as being an actual PC game.

Some very nice things in this game but ONE major flaw.

The content is very small, i did finish half the campaign in like 2hours. But the game can be very long actually because if you want to finish it you need some good gear.

To reach this, you need a lot of money and when i say a lot, i think a huge amount of monney. Only one way to get it, redo and redo again the same missions. Count like 10 times each (just a guess, from how much upgrades cost in shop and how much you gain from one mission)

I cant see a cheapest way to make a game "long".

Anyway i gave up after 4 hours of grinding on the same exact mission again and again. It wasnt fun.

But if you think 5 euros is fair for a couple hours of original gameplay, you can try it.

A very obvious tablet/mobile game, that really does not transition well to PC. Huge UI elements and text had me checking my resolution multiple times, and poor design choices mean that instead of a port which takes into account the multiple differences between PC and mobile it disregards this entirely - having to click on everything instead of being able to hover the mouse to just check movement range becomes tiresome quickly. As a mobile game I would recommend it as it is actually somewhat enjoyable and has a comical and colourful art style and aesthetic, but as a PC game and poorly made port it's obvious that this is a missed opportunity that unfortunately is just too painful and forced to be enjoyable.

Badly ported game. Having to double-click on UI elements, GUI and text in general is way too large for a desktop game.
Developer could atleast have made SOME effort in releasing the tablet version for PC, but no. The wave of crappy mobile ports on Steam needs to end.
The misspells, poor dialogue etc. I can overlook.

The gameplay itself is fine, enjoyable, but the obvious porting makes it a pain to play.

Adapt UI for a desktop PC, zoom the game out a bit, remove (or shrink) "Share" buttons. Then you might have a good game.

The interface feels clumsy and badly adapted from a touch screen interface to mouse and keyboard.

There is no save / load, which might be OK for a mobile game but is a no-go for a PC game. You have exactly one "save slot", which is used automatically to continue where you left. But that's it.

Gameplay is frustrating. Every mistake (which is quite often a mis-click because of the bad interface) is punished harshly. The missing save / load feature makes this even worse.

Not recommendet.

This game frustrates me to no end, because it starts off great. Act One is easy, but makes great use of the mechanics and has some decent drive to it. Sadly, the translator and play testers for the game appears to have quit the second they saw Act Two and Act Three, because everything after the intro is a trainwreck. The levels are boring, the interface has no idea how to click the right spot on the map (and misclicks are harshly punished), Act Two's difficulty is just adding hitpoints to the bad guys, Act Three instead just gives them suicide bombs, a million movement points, and the ability to instantly know where you are, while the writing goes from vaguely forgettable banter to nonsensical gibberish. (I'm convinced that the "witty" banter is bugged and it's only supposed to be playing one or two lines at a time and instead plays all of them. It's the only way to explain this, unless everyone contracted Parkinson's disease in between Act One and Act Two.)

Oh, and it's a port of a mobile game so you'll want to use Cheat Engine to bypass all of the grinding. It knocks off most of the playtime this title has (it's amazingly short), but there's no reason to replay the same missions over and over again just to get around the obstacles they intended you to pay to bypass.

All told, if you can get it super cheap then you'll probably get some good fun out of Act One. If you enjoy trying to decipher Russian to English Google translations then the stories Act Two and Three might amuse you as well, but the gameplay is awful.

Nice as it is to see an addition to the sparse squad-based TBS genre, this is not a good game, at least on PC.

It's a barebones mobile port, with a gameplay model clearly built around microtransactions. With those removed, all that is left is a heck of a lot of grinding with clunky mouse-based controls.

It is also littered with broken Engrish throughout.

The core gameplay is fairly decent, but it is overshadowed by numerous irritations.

Mobile games have no place on anything other than a mobile device. The presentation is nice but the controls are horrible, probably because they were taken from a mobile game setup instead of adapting it properly for a non-mobile experience, the music is horrible and very repetitive and the tutorial isn't very good. This game would probably be ok if you have absolutely nothing else to play but otherwise, why waste your time playing this wen you could play the far superior X-Com Enemuy Unknown.

It is a bad port from tablets, with a poor adapted system to PC. Graphics? Nice. Game? too simple and bored

I paid 3€ and it was too much.

Decent turn based strategy game, however it is somewhat degraded by the remnants of what no doubt was a micro-transaction system in the mobile version. As a result you need to replay some of the first missions several times and grind for coins just so you could upgrade your characters to even have a chance in some of the later levels on normal difficulty.

Apart from the coins grind, the menus and options are very basic, with little to no graphics options.

A missed opportunity by the developers to make this into an iconic PC strategy game, if only they overhauled it more and removed the stench of a mobile port from it.

Despite it's flaws, for the price of 5,99€ it's not a bad buy, and if its in a bundle or on offer it is worth getting. It could have easily been a 15€ game if the developers put more work into it, maybe added some voiceovers, and redesigned the unlock and level up mechanics and options for the PC.
