I used to be a big fan of Spiderman games. My favorite is Web of Shadows, so I kind of were expecting something like that but with better graphics... And was greatly dissapointed.

The web swinging mechanics don't give you feel like you have to do something with all these acrobatics, because controls were simplified to "press x to look awesome" and "press y to go to the point you want". This doesn't gives me any challenge and boring overall.

Crime fighting were always repetitive in Spiderman games, but because of simplified combat mechanics battles in this game somehow feel even more repetitive.

Spidey himself was changed, he now acts and jokes more like the one from Amazing Spiderman movies, which isn't something I like. A fan of the movie would like this though.

So... I think this game may be good for people who loved latest spiderman films, but if you like any challenge in your game - I would not recommend it.

The Amazing Spider-Man 2 is an action packed adventure which will keep your heart pumping. It provides crimes around the city for you to the do to take a break from the main missions. One of the new features in this game is the Notoriety level. Whenever you do not do crimes and instead just skip over them, your Notoriety level increases and once it reaches a certain level, the "police" will be shooting you whenever they see you. As it increases more and more, they will be more aggressive. This can get dangerous as you are trying to roam the city. Doing Story Missions will not lower your Notoriety. The only way to lower it is to do crimes constantly or your Notoriety level will increase. This is an annoying feature introduced by this game and has caused me to give it a lower score. It will make you unable to roam the city for more than 10 minutes without doing a crime as you will get shot on the way as your Notoriety increases. They use all sorts of things to stop you to disrupt your free roaming experience, not just shooting you. The Story Missions are fun and exciting and the story overall is pretty good. However, the missions are quite little and once you finish them, you can only roam the city, do crimes, unlock stuff and redo the missions. This makes the game boring after you finish the Story Missions as the crimes do get repetitive after doing them for a while. It took me around 6 hours to finish the Story Missions without stopping other than to do crimes and collect things occasionally. This should give you an idea of how short they are. Loading screens in this game are okay but crimes do not feel like they are part of the city. Whenever you go to a crime, you see the crime marker and once you go there, you don't see any criminals and instead a loading screen appears and you get spawned somewhere with a few criminals. After the crime, a news report screen will appear and you will return back to the city. This makes it feel like a missions and not part of the city unlike the other Spider-Man games where when you go to the crime, you can see the criminals and fight them on the spot without any loading screen and once you are done, you can instantly go back to roaming the city. Lastly, there are some minor performance issues that might affect you but they are not too big of a problem. Overall, this game is pretty short but its missions are fun and exciting. The graphics are okay and the crimes do get repetitive and do not feel like they are part of the city. Notoriety levels are the worst and they are annoying whenever you just feel like roaming the city and there are some minor performance issues. I would recommend this game to those who do not mind the bad points I have stated. I, personally, am fine with it but it definitely could be improved.

Recommended. For Spiderman's fans, basically.
To be honest, I liked it more The Amazing Spider-Man 1.
I think the way the controls worked in the first version where more easy to handle than in version 2.
The rest of gamplaying is more or less the same.
Story line is different and, graphics where enhanced but, I feel the game less optimized, respect to version 1.

the only reason why i recomend this game is because, as a huge spiderman fan, its fun but the ammount of glitches and bugs is insane!!!!!, the mouse is laggy at the point you cannot even navegate. But recommend this game to every spiderman fan out there because is fun, kinda like a batman game. But i do say you need like an AWESOME AND POWERFUL pc to run this game

The Amazing Spider-Man 2 is and ok game.I think that the first game is better but there are things that they improved. When you web sling you attach to building. You can where a variety of spiderman suits while playing the story.Combat was very fun and the stealth. Now lets list the bad things.Story is short and boring. After the story there really isnt anything else to do but collect comic book pages whick can be fun and boring at the same time. There is a really cool thing when you collect a certain amount of comics though. You can read issues of real comics for 1st appeances of the villians in the game.I give this game a 5/10 DONT buy this game save yourself some time and buy the first game!IChanged my mind get the game on xbox or playstaion because both the games on steam arent cheap!

Amazingly short is what The Amazing Spider-Man 2 is. The main story can be finished in roughly 3-4 hours, but if you do all of the monotonous sidequests I guess you can add 5-10 hours to that number. Add to that that it's an extremely poorly optimized port, with constant framerate drops and the fact that it follows an entirely different story than the movie and bam; we have a winner for yet another movie cash-in game, even if it isn't identical. They just had to release this close to the movie.

If only they worked on this for 6 months longer this could've been semi-great. The first Amazing Spider-Man wasn't without its problems, but at least it was somewhat polished, and definitely longer.

Now, the graphics, on the other hand, are pretty good, even if it could've used more detail on street level (swinging through these streets is really cool, though). The game in general has a colorful look.
And it's a real shame that they didn't use the movie actors for the voices. Things felt a bit forced I thought, and the one-liners were repeated way too often (why the heck is it called an one-liner if it's repeated every couple of minutes ?). A missed opportunity.

Play this if you're a big Spider-Man fan, or if you've played all of the other titles before. Or just wait for a sale if you really, really want to play it.

Absolutely one of the WORST ports I have ever seen. I say "seen" because the game ran so poorly on my brand new gaming PC (with a Nvidia GTX 770) that I never got to actually play it. Do not waste your time nor your money on this phoned-in cash-grab.

With The Amazing Spider-Man 2 movie out, another Spider-Man game comes along with it. The first The Amazing Spider-Man game was served as an epilogue to the main film. The Amazing Spider-Man 2 video game takes a different approach as it has a unique storyline of its own that has little sprinkles from the actual movie.
Amazing Spider-Man 2 the game starts with you as Peter Parker on the night his uncle, Ben Parker is shot and killed. The game then flashes forward somewhere in time between the first and second films, with Peter still looking for the thief who killed his uncle. The game then proceeds to meander through encounters with main-stay villains in the Spider-Man universe such as The Kingpin, Kraven, the Green Goblin and Carnage.
The game is an open world style game. The main missions are too short and the side missions are not very plentiful. Nearly all side missions are also in the first game, also most achievements are the same.
Like in the first game you can choose different Spider-Man outfits. Some costumes can be unlocked in the game, while others are featured as DLC.
One of the biggest changes compared to the first game is the web slinging. The first game had poor web slinging physics as Spider-Man would attach his webs onto the sky. Not to mention Spider-Man floated too much and it did not feel fast paced. In this game however, webs attach themselves to building this time and feels much faster. It’s a major improvement over past games, but still does not match the perfect web slinging physics from the 2004 Spider-Man 2 game.
The fighting mechanics in The Amazing Spider-Man 2 appear to have been simplified compared to the previous game. The previous game had a unique system that was similar to the fighting style from the Batman Arkham games. The combat just feels cheap and not as innovative as it was in the previous game which is a shame.
The graphics look outdated, they were even better in the first game.
The voice actors do only a passable job.
The Amazing Spider-Man 2 seems to be a lazy attempt to replicate the Batman: Arkham games with Spider-Man in the lead role. If you played the first Amazing Spider-Man game you can skip the second game, it is nearly the same but worse.

Sounds 5/10
Graphics 5/10
Gameplay 5/10
Atmosphere 4/10

After being a fan of the first "The Amazing Spider-Man" game that I finished a few weeks ago, I was really looking forward to getting straight into another Marvel adventure with my favorite web slinging super-hero.

There are a lot of complaints about the graphics on this game being not up to scratch are complete bogus. Max this bad boy out and you get a beautiful spider-man-esk comic graphic style. The lens flare may be a little much at times but that can be forgotten for how well the overall city landscape has been done.

Length wise, the game is lacking a bit. I had finished the main story and the majority of the "side quests" and I have only clocked in six hours. There is the opportunity to carry on playing after you finish the main story to collect the rest of achievements and collectibles, and some people may be into that sort of thing but not me.

The original game kind of had a button mashing feel to it, this however is different in that you have to use all sorts of maneuvers to overcome the enemies. The camera work is certainly an improvement over the last too.

I used the Xbox controller, and it worked brilliantly for the most part, takes a little while in the beginning to get used to the controls but it's worth it.

Action/Adventure and Spider-Man fans should certainly play this!

Im really not sure what to make of this game. it has so much going wrong for it that i kinda like it :S

Ive only put <5 into the game and can already tell ive reached the end of the story which is a bit of a shame really. i hope after the end game i can explore the city some more and do some of the side missions (if you can call them that)

There are so many issues with the web slinging its at times hillarious, though for those of a short temper might not be worth picking up as you WILL throw spiderman into buildings every 60 seconds :P

But is the crappy mechanics that make it so fun :P end of the day i spend ALOT of time just going about the place finding cimes and stopping them, ive honestly spent 3 hours tops on story content. however the simple fact is despite this games flaws i would recommend it. Though not at full price, only get it on sale (i got mine for £10). had i paid full price i wouldnt be recommending it.

More like Amazing Cash-Grab. Huge stepdown from The Amazing Spider-Man 1. Main quest is 3 to 4 hours, sidequests are boring and bland, upgrades and combat are severely downgraded.
Get ASM1 or Shattered Dimensions if you want yourself some Spider-Man action.

PS Webs don't actually stick to the buildings.
