Patch 2.3 Now Live!

Patch 2.3
Just a minor update only 1 day after Patch 2.2 went out. Updating the version was necessary to prevent cross build desyncs due to the war salamander pathfinding fix.

Bug Fixes
Amphibious units can now traverse terrains properly once again.
The game will no longer spontaneously pause due to breakpoints existing in some AI scripts.
Desync tracking system will now generate logs when you play scenarios.
You cannot enable the desync tracking system in quickmatch (settings are ignored).

We're still looking into some data fixes that went into Patch 2.0 Hotfix #3 that got lost when Patch 2.1 was introduced. For example, the AI won't cross Yellow River.

We are also aware there is a refresh issue in the lobby browser. This isn't something that was changed, so we believe there is a problem on the Valve side, but we are investigating this. Some people have posted information that if you change the dropdown from ping to something else and back again, it'll recover quicker.

The "Purchase DLC to unlock this!" stuff bugs the hell out of me, and not much was changed from the original game. Needs adjustable FOV, though multiplayer worked fine for the hour or two I played with a friend, no problems there.

To be perfectly honest it feels like a lackluster cashgrab instead of a proper remake, plus it's more expensive now than it was when I bought it as a kid around 2005. Ridiculous.

Going back to Age of Mytholgy after a few years it has now rekindled my excitement for the game

If you enjoyed AoM back in the day, definitely grab this. Multiplayer is pretty much dead at this point, so buy it to play the singleplayer or with friends.

I used to play this game a whole lot as a kid, coming back now on steam, and playing it with some cousins and friends is really really fun. Would highly reccomend if you have people to play with

This is how you RTS

Age of Mythology (even though being an old game still) rocks pretty much all needed aspects of RTS games.
A nice story(not to mention all the useful things you get to learn through the game.
Nice Gameplay with a lot of different tactics/maps/variety.
Really succesful multiplayer. And more.
So I would definitely suggest this game.

One of my favourite games from my childhood. A friend got me into it , loved the original.As you expect i got excited when this came out on steam, too bad this remaster is full of bugs and has ♥♥♥♥♥♥ performance. In single player games it kinda stutters alot even if i have 300 fps. And online its even worse its VERY laggy impossible to play because of blatant servers. If u want to play this game get the original version and go on Voobly or Game Ranger. This Extended Edition is a joke don't waste your money on it.The majority of positive apvotes are probably from people who only play campaing.

Game is really fun and quite addicting.

This was th first RTS game I ever played, and while it has shortcomings, it is still fun to play, and I spent plenty of hours woking my way through the campaign. Not too great for multiplayer, nor is it particularly great graphics-wise, but it has plenty of character, a decent soundtrack, and enough interesting mythology to make it worthwile to play.

Age of Mythology: Extended Edition is a good example of a poorly made cash grab.
The Extended tag probably means the new bugs Skybox Labs managed to produce, that didn't exist in the original.

The AI pathfinding is messed up. Units will often phase through the walls and villagers often get stuck in larger buildings (Temple, Wonder, Titan Gate) they have finished building.

The changes to the graphics are highly questionable. The new textures are washed out, so it's highly recommended to revert them to something that looks closer to the original (EG: Epic textures mod). Otherwise you will have a hard time finding your units, as they blend into the environment too well.

Last but not least the netcode. Oh, boy! If you thought Age of Empires 2 HD's netcode was bad, then you have no idea what this game has in store for you. The online matches are insane lagfests, often freezing up for seconds, rendering the game unplayable.

Bottom line is that this version of the game is a mess. Skip it, you're not missing out much!

Impossible to play online against other players due to the lag in response from the servers. Playing from Singapore here. Would greatly appreciate it if the servers can be upgraded or expanded to other regions

If you're wanting to play LAN games, don't buy this version, get the original from somewhere else. This version is very buggy for LAN games, and has terrible, terrible lag, random desyncs (player drops), and is very buggy when trying to save the game and resume at a later time. You'll not get to finish 1/3 of the games you start due to these bugs. We also encountered game corruption, where multiple players will experience severe graphics glitches making the game unplayable. Saving & resuming did not resolve this, it kept spreading & getting worse. The original game (and titans expansion) was rock solid, so if you can get your hands on that instead of this game, you will avoid much disappointment and headaches.
I got it during the summer sale so it's worth the money I paid, and still a good game, but that is in spite of the horrible problems they've added to it with this "Extended" edition. Oh, and they've paywalled the "giant" sized maps, so you'll have to get the dragon DLC to play that map size.

I'm an older player of the licence "Age of" and ... what a shame ! We are in 2016 and this game who's from 2002 (i'm not sure) is laggy asf ! Developers are unabled to give a proper and stable game wich is, by the way, VERY EXPENSIVE. I'm so disapointed.

I have been enjoying the game but it crashes in the middle of gameplay and will frequently fail to load saved games. If it weren't for that I would recommend this game to everyone.

I really like that game and you like age of empires series or other strategy games you should try this game too.
Building civilization,buildings,army and plus gods dammnn.
Also this game has multiplayer and you don't need to pay so much for dlcs (They are not actually usefull)
Go play mp w/ ur friend and have fun couple of hours.

Nobody has to like every game just give a try,i am kinda sure you are gonna like it.

This game was a nostalgia overload. I had first played it when I was 6/7 years old, an I remember being absolutely terrible at it but having so much fun with the visuals and the rich mythological aspect to the game. Now the extended edition became the remake we were all looking for, unlike Star Wars Battlefront to name an example. They updated the graphics, through in a free expansion, and reinvigorated the online community. This is one of my all time favourite games, and I would heavily reccomend that you purchase it.
