“Spark Rising Early Access is your chance to play Spark Rising while in a wee infant state so that you can help us raise this baby into a grand game one day. Which pretty much means that much of the game in its current form is in flux, and is very raw. The final form could change dramatically based on your feedback, your care, your love, and your rants. This is a work in progress and therefore contains all sorts of wonky bugs, which could be fun to screw around with, or turn you into a madman. Or woman. Whichever you prefer.

So what exactly can you expect from an early access game? Pretty much this:
  • Bugs that make you go hmmm.....
  • Features yet to be added
  • Full features that may get axed because they sucked
  • Save files that will eventually be wiped
  • Missing or unclear objectives
  • Changing control schemes as we optimize
  • Graphics and performance that has yet to be optimized

If you are the sort of trend setting gamer that loves the behind the scenes look at what we are creating, warts and all, and loves the idea of shaping this game from a baby to an adult, then this early access is for you. But if the thought of this sort of thing makes you want to smack a baby, we suggest that parenting ain't quite for you. Better you wait to play a more stable game, and wait until we officially launch the game.

Currently the game is expected to stay in early access form for at least the next 8 months. Based on how things progress, we either continue to build the game in early access form or officially launch. Either way our plan is to continue to add features to the game for some time to come.

For early backers of our game before we launched on Steam, if you prefer a Mac version you will get it. For the launch on Steam, we will only sell the PC version at this stage. The Mac version will come a few months afterwards.”

About This Game

Spark Rising is a FPS where you conquer worlds and fight back against a mad god that is tearing the galaxy asunder.

You play as a Spark Bot and you must betray your master god to save what's left before reality is twisted all to hell. The problem is... how do you fight back against a god that can break heaven, earth and hell? Plunder rare crystals and loot to build up enough power to fight back. And perhaps the story might end with you as a hero.

It's indeed a fast paced arcarde action FPS. The trailer shows something about making a fortress you can defend, maybe that's in multiplayer because i never saw that, but come to think of it, i dont remember there being a button in the menu for multiplayer. Maybe I missed it, didn't care since I would never play MP anyway.

It's voxel and random generated worlds. The generation part takes a while (much longer than it should given the size and lack of variety). So you are dumped on to this place with no indication what you are supposed to do, with this ghost like thing in front of you. It never speaks, but it does help shoot bad guys a little bit. Didn't do much besides get in the way of my vision. Then you run a little ways and you are supposed to shoot these "consoles" which are just large glowign blocks. Then a bunch of enemies spawn. Destroy all the consoles then get to the waypoint to escape to the next identically themed level. Enemies are pretty lame with a little variety. The magic guys are annoying. actually most of them are annoying, and not really difficult to take out. You have a machine gun that reloads very frequently, and a couple other alt shots you can pick up (one at a time). Watermelons were sticky bombs but being watermelons was kind of funny. There was a charge shot, a rail gun style shot, and a couple others i think.

Being voxel, you can destroy the terrain some, as well as enemies can when they drop bombs and such. Didn't really affect gameplay all that much though. Very colorful, but not texture to it. Just solid colors, which is good and bad in a way I guess.

Oh, and it's basically rogue-like, in that you die and you start again at level 1. Though I don't know if that matters much since the levels I played seemed more or less identical anyway.

Anyway, overall, not worth my time. It's in early access, but I dont think there would be enough improvement in gameplay style to interest me in the future.

This game is a bundle of fun and can't wait for co-op. I hate to compare it to minecraft (voxel game) but that is the game everyone knows. It's more or less a battle minecraft with guns and the feeling you are in a mech. It's really fast-pased and looks like it has great promise. Now as I'm sure you know it's an early access so you'll see bugs here and there but they are on track for a great game. Dev gave me(and others) an early copy to help get these bugs out but i've had fun playing it while beta testing it as well.

My Rating 6/10 but this will change as more get added (Again it is in early access and they never to a full rating right away due to lack of features and content.

Spark Rising has made a huge amount of progress since I first got involved in the kickstarter around october. Offering a pair of well refined game modes. One requiring you to take back control of a military base and defend it against an invading Titan with it's hordes of voxel minions. Along with a more parkour target shooting map to challenge your mastery of the games core movement/jumping/aiming mechanics.

Obviously as an early access or alpha game there are several areas that need to be fleshed out yet. Given Wicked Loot's fast iterative development process to date, you can expect to see features added quickly in very refined form. Along with a very direct line to the players. Through active test community, developer livestreams, etc.
