What the developers have to say:

“Spark Rising Early Access is your chance to play Spark Rising while in a wee infant state so that you can help us raise this baby into a grand game one day. Which pretty much means that much of the game in its current form is in flux, and is very raw. The final form could change dramatically based on your feedback, your care, your love, and your rants. This is a work in progress and therefore contains all sorts of wonky bugs, which could be fun to screw around with, or turn you into a madman. Or woman. Whichever you prefer.

So what exactly can you expect from an early access game? Pretty much this:
  • Bugs that make you go hmmm.....
  • Features yet to be added
  • Full features that may get axed because they sucked
  • Save files that will eventually be wiped
  • Missing or unclear objectives
  • Changing control schemes as we optimize
  • Graphics and performance that has yet to be optimized

If you are the sort of trend setting gamer that loves the behind the scenes look at what we are creating, warts and all, and loves the idea of shaping this game from a baby to an adult, then this early access is for you. But if the thought of this sort of thing makes you want to smack a baby, we suggest that parenting ain't quite for you. Better you wait to play a more stable game, and wait until we officially launch the game.

Currently the game is expected to stay in early access form for at least the next 8 months. Based on how things progress, we either continue to build the game in early access form or officially launch. Either way our plan is to continue to add features to the game for some time to come.

For early backers of our game before we launched on Steam, if you prefer a Mac version you will get it. For the launch on Steam, we will only sell the PC version at this stage. The Mac version will come a few months afterwards.”

Early Access Review
This game is a bundle of fun and can't wait for co-op. I hate to compare it to minecraft (voxel game) but that is the game everyone knows. It's more or less a battle minecraft with guns and the feeling you are in a mech. It's really fast-pased and looks like it has great promise. Now as I'm sure you know it's an early access so you'll see bugs here and there but they are on track for a great game. Dev gave me(and others) an early copy to help get these bugs out but i've had fun playing it while beta testing it as well.

My Rating 6/10 but this will change as more get added (Again it is in early access and they never to a full rating right away due to lack of features and content.

These review was made at 8/5/2014

At these time i can see the game has a long way to go.. it is fun and i trust the Dev to take it all the way to the end seeing how it was on the Pre-alpha before.. and how its now and how much it moves

If any one will ask me what these is like il say its like Harkawn and Ace Of Spades combine

The game play right now dose have many bugs... but its fair for a game in its stage.. the updates come on a fair time, and give good change to the game
The Dev also seem to be listing to the community and Gamers of the game on what will happen next that is really awesome as you can really feel the work that come with the Dev and the gamers community of these game

If you you looking for a game to play right now il not recommend it just yet...

If you you looking for a game to play some time soon that and to support i do recommend these game

Feel free to ask any thing in the comments

Spark Rising has made a huge amount of progress since I first got involved in the kickstarter around october. Offering a pair of well refined game modes. One requiring you to take back control of a military base and defend it against an invading Titan with it's hordes of voxel minions. Along with a more parkour target shooting map to challenge your mastery of the games core movement/jumping/aiming mechanics.

Obviously as an early access or alpha game there are several areas that need to be fleshed out yet. Given Wicked Loot's fast iterative development process to date, you can expect to see features added quickly in very refined form. Along with a very direct line to the players. Through active test community, developer livestreams, etc.

You can get a pretty good idea of the gameplay through the development videos in the community hub. Alternatively you can check out the early access preview I put together on youtube:

Sometimes just being able to build everything my imagination can create isnt enough, Sometimes I need to destroy. Sometimes I need to find something beautiful someone else has made, and just blow it to smithereens. Sometimes I need to build an army from scratch and lead them in an unquestionable rout of the enemies forces. Sometimes I need all the awesomness that Spark Rising promises. This game is off to a great start so far so here is to hoping it continues to evolve and deliver on the promises it has made.

So far the game is enjoyable but, the lack of content is a major issue judging from the trailers the game as around 6% of its release content which is simply not enough at the current time I have to say yes because of how entertaining combat is but not much you will have to be ready to make your own entertainment

This is a review of the first build of the games release on early access and is subject to change:

This game captures something that so few recent games have done, and that's an atmosphere. Even though the enemies look silly, and even though this game is in its early days you really feel their size and numbers, and it really makes them satisfying to kill. This backed up with the destructible terrain that gets obliterated as you shoot hordes of enemies, sharp graphics and animations with a vibrant colour pallete, and the addition of a decent soundtrack make this one of the best new releases I have played in a while. Online co-op will be a blast. Buy this now.

First of all, remember that this review is of the game in it's prealpha state, and as such, it obviously has a more restrained outlook on things like bugs and glitches. The game has just been released to early access, and that's so that the devs can get feedback on what feels right and what they can change. Don't expect it to be a fully fleshed out game. It's still in development. There are multiple bugs and little things that could be changed with the engine (the audio is quite odd in the boss fight, there seems to be really bad collision code...), but overall, the engine is fairly well fleshed out. In my thirteen minutes of play (unfortunately enough to see pretty much the whole game), I didn't crash or have any major lag issues.

Now for the actual game design part. See, the game is all about driving your mech warriors in voxel landscapes and shooting stuff in various game modes. There will be a crafting mode in the future, where you can build levels using a voxel engine, however when i opened it I couldn't find how to build anything, so I'm assuming that the crafting mode isn't fully fleshed out yet. The voxel engine does two things mainly. It makes it so that you can destroy the terrain (always great fun, as there are nice particle effects when destroying things and also for the sheer sake of destroying), and the voxel engine also allows the player to craft. ATM, it's mainly destroying.

The main game mode is somewhat obtuse in what to do atm. You have to destroy certain objectives, in order to convert them to your side. I didn't know what these looked like until I realized that they were these small rods that you had to shoot. Once you have converted a few, the boss comes in from the sky. He's massive and certainly quite impressive, but the way he walks on the ground makes it obvious that this is an early alpha game. He somewhat floats to the highest block, and it doesn't really look realistic. Overall, the game mode is just a way for the developers to test out the engine and to demonstrate what the game might feel like when it is done.

Atm, the game doesn't feel like much. It's basically a version of Hawken where the mech handling doesn't feel as nice (If you shoot out a 1 block wide wall you can walk in there. It feels like you're a small person with a mech shooting hand). However, I can see the potential in this game. I especially liked the feeling of verticality in the main level, as I could blow my way through the various obstacles while dodging shots and firing at the boss down below. However, staying on the ground was quite glitchy as I would bounce around the various cubes (Not exactly Minecraft movement so far).

So overall, would I recommend you buy this game? No, absolutely not in the state that it's in, unless you want to help design it. It's not at the level of the Minecraft alpha, where you already have a game. It's basically a tech engine with good potential. However, if you want to help design the game and give feedback on it, I suggest you get it.

Alright I regret buying this game. I have seen any real updates or additions. If you've had the game as long as I have. You would feel as if the devs have completely forgotten about this game. I've seen one patch so far and it didn't add much at all. Perhaps people are having fun with it as it is. But compaired to the idea the video convays. The game doens't come close.Even for early access alpha standards. And with no updates in the longest time. If this game is going to redeem its value. The devs really need to get to work on this game. As of this post.I highly recommend not buying this game ANY TIME SOON. With the rate this game is going. It won't be entertainable for years. And by Entertainable I mean a game you can sink many many hours into. This game you can get bored within 30 minutes.

I have to stress this. Yes I know the game is early access. But that doesn't exccuse that fact that I have seen nearly enough contect. Please do your selfs a favor. If you're going to buy it. put it off for at least 3 years. There is no way (with the rate or progression) the game will be at all ready for a LONG time.

Shooter mechanics are fluid (for its genre, more than most in this genre). Creation mode is fair, and grows easier with practice (could use more GUI).

The game has a great start! Fun. The Creative mode (which can be switched to battle-mode) helps keep this EARLY release replayable for a bit.

The developer is promising the moon on this one... from what I have seen so far... it has that stellar POTENTIAL!

"AT THIS EARLY STAGE", I am divided on whether I recommend it at over $10 (not because it isn't fun, but because there are a lot of finished $10 games). DEFINITELY get it on a great sale deal!

As of writing this, it is 10/06/14.
I love this game as an idea, it works perfectly mechanically.. but buying this now. It's a bit barebonesy. If you buy this. Please expect to make your own content to play with due to the fact that there is little to no gameplay here aside from two ''levels'' and one mech (it seems that the other two are WIP). The soundtrack consists of only 4 tracks, I know this as I got the soundtrack as a bonus. The weapons in game are a bit weird, and by weapons in the plural form. I mean just one weapon that has two forms of attacks, one normal attack and one heavy attack. The UI is nice but the Ammo Counter sticks out like a sore thumb.

The lack of difficulty choice angers me as it really means that I just have to sprint to a beacon, destroy it to make friendly, do the rest without fighting and then fight the weak titans. Beating a level does not feel accomplishing.

If you want this game; wait until the future where it's a bit better. Or buy now and be sure to make your own fun.

This game has a lot going for it, I've watched it since it was first kickstarted and it seemed great, but when I finally purchased it, it felt like it was too little content even for early access. It really has great potential but I'm going to keep it on the shelf until the serious imporvements it needs finally happens. But I trust Wicked Loot can save this title from failure. Buy later....

So I bought this game many months ago and it was great fun playing titan attack a few times, but then I got bored. So I waited a few months for sme updates, no updates yet. I check back every now and then and still no updates, just the same 2 buttons as when teh game was released. Up to this day game still has no updates from when it came out. Game could be great if it would actually update, but until it does update I want a refund or I want them to update the frggin game.
