Ce que les développeurs ont à dire :

Pourquoi l'Accès anticipé ?

“We entered Early Access to allow the community to help guide our development. We wanted feedback early and often on what works and what does not. While we realize Early Access has gotten a bad stigma of late, we don't regret it for a second because we know the game will be much better for it.

Please note, we did NOT enter Early Access to raise money to pay for development.”

Combien de temps environ ce jeu sera-t-il en Accès anticipé ?

“We will stay in Early Access as long as it needs in order for the game to be a successful launch.”

Comment sera la version final de la version en Accès anticipé ?

“The main difference between now and launch will be polish and a few additional features.

The biggest one being Tablet support which is next on our list.

This is a living breathing game and will constantly be receiving updates even after we hit our launch milestone. When we created PoxNora we continued to update the title for over 6 years and we plan to do the same with Conquest of Champions. Here are some features that we want to add either before launch or while we continue to improve post launch:

* In-game Trader / Card Auctions
* Automated Tournaments
* Guilds
* Additional factions
* Expansion packs every 2-3 months
* Support for multiple languages
* Additional maps
* Have a feature idea? Let us know on the forums!”

Quel est l'état actuel de la version en Accès anticipé ?

“The current state of Early Access is a completely playable game. It has all of the main features and all critical bugs are fixes. Not to say we don't have bugs, but nothing that would prevent you from experiencing and enjoying the game.”

Le jeu sera-t-il tarifé différemment pendant et après l'Accès anticipé ?

“The game will be priced the same during Early Access and beyond.”

Comment comptez-vous impliquer la Communauté dans le processus de développement ?

“The community has played a huge role in the direction of our development through their constant feedback on our forums:
http://forums.conquestofchampions.com/index.php

They are even helping us design future cards via Community Card Design Contests:
http://forums.conquestofchampions.com/index.php?threads/community-card-contest.1928/

If you have thoughts on where we should go with the game please speak up! We are listening to chat, forums, reviews, etc.”

À propos de ce jeu

Conquest of Champions is the perfect blend of Collectible Card Games and deep turn-based tactical strategy that only the creators of PoxNora could deliver. Think 'Magic the Gathering' meets 'Warhammer' or Chess.

Build your personal deck strategy and bring your cards to life by summoning fully animated creatures, casting devastating spells, and equipping powerful weapons all within battlegrounds that are reminiscent of tabletop miniature warfare.

Modes

You can choose to complete an entire match in real-time or you can take turns asynchronously and complete matches that extend over several days.

Conquest offers both PvP and single player options. In PvP you can challenge your friends or climb the leaderboards & compete in tournaments by battling ranked opponents. Currently our single player options are just practice battles but our development roadmap includes full campaigns and boss battles.

Free to Play

Conquest is free-to-play in that you are given a free Hero and starter deck when you register and then can unlock the other two factions at level 3 and level 6. You will earn additional cards, components (used in crafting), gold, and experience just by taking ranked turns and completing matches and quests. Everything in the game can be earned. As you play you will be able to expand and customize your deck with the cards you unlock.

For those who do not want to wait, we offer a couple DLC bundles which allow you to acquire Hero decks at a bulk discount. The 'Starter' includes one hero from each faction for the price of two heroes. The 'Mega-Hero' includes every Hero in our release set and first expansion (this assumes you get to level 6 for the starter ones).

Features

* 3 game modes: Single Player Campaign, Asynchronous PVP, or Real Time PVP.

* Customize unique decks with over 200 cards (new expansions every 3-4 months).
* 3 Factions to choose from: Stonehold (Dwarves, Constructs, and Barbarians), Briarwood (Elves, Beasts, Fibians, and Treefolk), and Embercult (Demons, Undead, and Dragonkin)
* Each soldier has unique attributes and up to two special abilities such as ‘Double Attack’ or ‘Chain Lightning’.
* Earn experience, gold, components, and cards by taking turns in ranked matches or completing friendly matches.
* Global ranking system - play ranked games to climb the leaderboard.
* Make cards more powerful by fusing them together.
* Craft exotic rare cards by completing sets of components earned through gameplay.
* Daily Quests and Achievements
* Regular Tournaments scheduled seasonally
* Exchange strategies with your friends via the lobby chat.
* Cross-Platform play! Mac/PC and coming soon for iOS and Android tablets and mobile devices!
* 3 Unique Map Backgrounds (Mountains, Forest, Caverns), each with multiple map layout variations.

Early Access

We are excited to open the doors to the beta to give a sneak peek at what is coming with Conquest. While the game is very much playable we have a great deal of features to add. Some of which include:

- Expansion Content: We will be releasing regular expansions to add additional depth and strategy to the game.
- Auction House / Trader
- Tablet Build: With cross-platform support.
- Guilds
- Automated Tournaments: Round Robin, Draft, etc
- Spectator Mode / Replays: Ability to watch others play. This was highly demanded during our first tournament and we can't wait to get it in.

If you can ignore the lo-res mobile device port aspect, it's actually a pretty decent little CCG/TBS game. Certainly worth a crack, so far I haven't hit a paywall.

If you liked Pox Nora, Etherlords I & II or any collectible card game, go for it! I really enjoy extended/casual matches (kind of PBEM gameplay), really addictive... just one more turn...

Don't listen to the negative reviews! This is a good game, the negative reviews seem very inaccurate. I doubt they even gave the game a real chance. Give it a try for yourself because I found the game quick and easy to get started and satisfying and rewarding to play. Even though you have a fun and complete game to play here, it is still also being worked on and improved, so it will only get better... there is little to lose in giving this game a try for a couple of weeks. It really doesn't take much time and it becomes even more fun when you get the hang of things, which isn't tough at all.

If you look for a card game that allows for deep tactical combat and both rapid and drawn-out battles, you should try Conquest out. The game is free, rewards you with enough to not have a big advantage over people who buy booster-packs and is pretty stable software-wise. Since I initially wrote this review, there has been a major update, which made the game even more rewarding gold-wise (The currency you buy everything with in-game).

The last major problem I saw was the amount of players online at any given time. This gets better pretty fast now and the time spent in the queue waiting for a match is going down constantly. The option to play an extended match, where both opponents have 3 days for their respective turns helps a lot with still being involved, as you can have a lot of them running at the same time against players who you'd never meet online!

7/10 and on a good way to ascend further.

I've been playing CCGs since the first year of Magic and Spellfire(TSR's CCG based on D&D characters) so it takes alot for me to get excited about a CCG since I've seen everything done before. The bad reviews for this game almost made me pass it up and that would truly have been a shame because I would have missed out on such a gem.

This game has everything. Upgradeable cards, asynchronious play, a good mix of ccg and board game elements, and a micro- reward system. Every turn you play you get something. It might be some gold or some clan experience(which lets you craft better clan specific units), crafting material or even a random card.

Yes, there is some pay to win aspects. However, all content can be bought with in game currency so it will just take you a bit longer to get something if you don't want to pay. From what I see it does not cause an imbalance. I have not paid a cent and have played 10 games so far and have won 9 of them. The other downside is that the playerbase is small right now. I went from ranked 580 with 1 win to ranked 205 in two hours of playing, however there are usually between 20-25 players on at any given time.

Overall a great CCG and I highly recommend it.

This is the best free-to-play turn based tactics game out there at the moment.

Much deeper than Aerena and more concise than Dogz of War or any of the others.
For those claiming this game is pay-to-win...that's a load of utter garbage.

In two weeks I've gone from rank noob straight into the top 20 playing nothing more than a slightly modified starter deck without spending any money whatsoever.
It just takes a little bit of time to find out what works and what does not. The tutorial and practice mode aren't great so you do have to put SOME effort into learning how to play the game yourself (people tend to be happy to offer advice too). And off course you have to be somewhat competent at tactics games to begin with.

Also have no idea what kind of matchmaking problems people were talking about but they appear to have been solved. The game only ever paired me with people roughly equal in rank.
As for time...most quick matches take about 20-30 minutes on average which I don't find excessively long for a turn based game.

And a little bit of advice for new players to start out with: Take the enhancements out of your starter deck as soon as possible and replace them with whatever free soldiers or spells you might have gotten (you get FREE CARDS just for playing the game, one free card, leveling component, gold reward or experience every TURN of the game you complete and five more at the end if you win).

It's free so if you like TB stratergy/CCG games stop reading this, give it a go and make up your own mind.

That being said, I think this is a pretty good game if you invest some time into it. It's one of the most balanced CCG games i've played in a while with the free decks being just as good as the bought ones if played right. E.G. Free heros have cheaper but weaker units so can rush effectively early game but the bought ones have more expensive and powerful units which can win out over numbers if played right. But the free/bought argument isn't so much of an issue as in every game i've played i've earned at least 1 card during game play and if you win you get another 5 random cards, so as you play you can build and edit your decks. You also earn gold which can be spent on new heros and decks, it accumulates slowly around 50-100 per match i've found but you can get rewarded with more as you level up/play the game daily.

The drawback I've found so far is that there isn't a trading system implemented yet, which is a shame but they do plan on adding that to the game. But apart from that it looks like it'll turn out to be a pretty good game aslong as they keep content from all expansions available to F2P players and keep it balanced. =)

Wow, Gameplay is very beautiful. Graphics, Hero Animations, are fantastic and the whole concept. The tutorials are nice and quick in the beginning so its pretty user friendly, it will just take time to get used to how to play because its complex. Overall, the gameplay, matches, cards, graphics, Hero/Character Animations and just whole game is definately 10/10 for me!

Un jeu plutot bof meme pour une alpha.
- Les parties sont très très longues
- Graphiquement y a bien mieux

People who boost their decks through real cash have the advantage/upper hand against those who don't. Why is that, you ask? Because the match-making system pairs newcomers (with only their starter decks) against these sharkers. If you think it's "fun" or "challenging" to play against someone who has 40+ arsenal of devastating cards while you've only got a starter deck, then by all means play the game and enjoy in this sadomasochistic merry-go-round. The game has potential, so it's kinda sad to see that pay-2-win and an unfair matchmaking system (there are almost always around ~200 players online, so I don't see why shouldn't a newbie be matched with a newbie) makes it a title to stay clear of... at least until (and if) these issues are adressed properly (alongside the ridiculous paywall for the new heroes.)

Great game, it's extremely polished, especially for an Early Access game. Yes, there are glaring bugs that do get annoying, but don't let that stop you from jumping in and having fun.
I have actually never played a CCG that was LESS pay to win. Let me repeat that, this game is absolutely NOT pay to win and those that have stated it is...I'm honestly not sure what they could be talking about. In the time I've played, already I've crafted all but four of the "Exotic" cards that can be crafted. After 200 matches, I've not gotten every card I've wanted, but I'd say 90% of the current release is sitting in my library.
The interface, is very tablet-centric, and I do not like that, however, due to feedback, it seems the next patch will make the interface less tablet focused and be more appealing to the PC gamer.

If you're a fan of fast-paced, tactical strategy games (like me) you will find this game to be ... very depressing. There is nothing really wrong with the combat or strategy, but more with the intensity, or in this case, lack there of. If you play this game, I hope you don't have any plans for about the next hour, not because you'll be playing many rounds of this because it's so addicting, but more because it's so slow. I have never been so bored playing a game before. It takes the computer about 10 seconds at least to make a move, when it takes me about 2-5 at most. Many other games (like Civilization) will decide what move to make in about 1 second. When it was my opponents turn, I basically went on YouTube and watch some videos, just to arrive like 5 minutes later to see that my opponent is still moving. My next problem, isn't anything to do with the combat or action, but the game in it's entirety. I found this game to be extremely similar in concept and design, to Mojang's game "Scrolls", scaringly similar. But, let's assume this game has no relation to "Scrolls" at all. My only other complaint is that there is no way to adjust the sound or music. Yes, you can "enable" and "disable" it, but no meter or slide to let you increase or decrease audio to your liking. In the end, I'd have to give this game a 4/10, and that's being a little nice. The slow-paced combat just takes so much out of the game, and the resembalence to "Scrolls" is a bit concerning. However, this game is "free to play", and it doesn't take up a lot of space on your computer. So, I'd say, install the game, play it yourself, and if you don't like it, at least you didn't get ripped off by having to pay $20 or worse. If you like the game "Scrolls" you might enjoy this ... however you likely will not.

Conquest of Champions is a game that has a lot of shiny things dangling in front of you, but the only way to reach them is by wading through pools of mud. It just makes you go through a lot of hassle to get something you want. That, or you just do it the dirty way by forking over money and gambling for digital cards. And it's for that reason I have a bit of trouble recommending this to people.

If you guys want to see the basic gist of the game, here's a quick look video showing off its gameplay and most of its good side. It's long for a quick look, but strategy games always never go quick. And for those of you who like to keep things brief, I'll leave the summary below.

http://youtu.be/VzypW8CM2-0

I'll start by saying the gameplay is solid. The way to win the game is simple, just kill the enemy hero and the towers on their side, but what makes it fun is the mechanics behind it. There's tons of interesting units and spells that do a variety of things, and the units themselves all have specific abilities on top of filling the board. The heroes you control have powerful special abilities and can transform into even bigger monsters that dominate your foes. The resource mechanic of gems, action points, and cards flow well together. Are you out of actions? Then use gems to squeeze 3 more beatings out on your opponent. Running out of cards? Sacrifice one gem to luckily draw the spell you need to finish off a unit. And if you're short on gems, there are plenty of cards that give you more, and units can easily build mines to increase the flow once again. Combine it all together and you got yourself a mashup of meat and magic pounding against each other in the center of the battlefield. And the one named the victor is usually the one with the best chemistry and tactics.

But now that I got the reason you should play this game out of the way, I have to tell you about the stuff dragging the game through the dirt.

You start the game by selecting a hero out of 3 separate factions (basically the typical fantasy dwarfs, elves, and undead. Nothing new or unique). What you really don't know is that you're choosing the ONLY hero you can play without forking over money or gold. That's right, you pretty much go on a blind date that ends up as a shotgun wedding, so I hope you're happy with what you pick. Sure you can start a new account for free, but why should you have to go through the hassle just to try out another playstyle? And if you do, you won't be able to pool all your cards together from your other accounts, so it highly discourages you from changing right off the bat.

Another peeve of mine is most of the cards you get as rewards you can't even use. Imagine how I felt after I played multiple 30 minute matches, opened up a deck with the gold I acquired, and I could only use a SINGLE card out of the 5 given to me. One of the cards was even a component you can only make use of by combining 3 other ones to MAYBE craft a card you need. And even then, you need to level up your hero/faction in order to even craft the bloody thing in the first place.

And speaking of crafting, let me tell you a little more on how bad it is. Plain and simple, you cannot craft the all the cards you really want and make the deck that suits your playstyle. Instead, you can only make 4 for the faction you have. And even then they smear dirt in your face because you have to get lucky with crafting drops in order to do it. It's just a sad, sad joke.

Now don't get me wrong. I get the reason they do this. It's a FTP game, and they want to make money by charging you for more cards. That's perfectly fine and acceptable. But why should they limit you so greatly to just playing a single hero? Sure I may like him, but I want to see/test if I'd like another one better. I want diversity! What they should be charging for is just cards that tweak each faction, or at least grant us one of each of the factions' heroes so we at least can grasp the basic mechanics behind each one. That way when I get a card for a certain faction, I can actually use the damn thing without it being completely useless to me. I'm even able to overlook the garbage cards you can't use in anything besides crafting if they at least grant you access to other heroes from the very start.

And since we're still on the topic of their business model, nothing pisses me off more than a token system that almost NEVER comes out even. This isn't Chuck E. Cheese. There should be straight cash bundles for everything I want. Most people don't want leftover hot dogs without buns. But that's the kind of crap you're gonna be dealing with as you'll have to overbuy crystals in order to get what you really want. It's just dirty business practice.

*(updated) It looks like they have some straight cash bundles on steam now, which is a good start. Let's hope they stay there*

But still, I think the enjoyment I had in the game outweighed my annoyances. But just marginally. It being a FTP game made that so. I also would've listed that lacking playerbase as a negative since it's so hard to find a match, but with this being released on steam, it will hopefully fix that. That, and they are promising to implement a card auction/trading system, so hopefully that'll also fix the card issues just as long as they don't milk you. It is only early access, and they are probably going to listen to their community so that some of these issues are fixed. If they have good sense, anyway.

So all-in-all, I think you should give this game a shot and see if it's for you, just as long as what I listed doesn't bother you. It's still fun and a decent time-waster that'll put your brain to work. And my brain certainly needs work.

A cool combination of chess, card battle, and turn based strategy on the fantasy RPG archetype. Been playing this game about 5 days or so. The game is well-balanced as far as I can see, and paying for cards doesn't seem to give people much of an advantage. I look forward to this genre getting bigger in the future. One of the most fun free games I've ever played.
