Don't believe the hype. Just because it's "roguelike" doesn't mean it's good (for perspective, I'll tell you this review is coming from someone who loves FTL and FPS's in general. Check my play history if you don't believe me).
The play is just frustrating. Not because it's too hard, but because it feels clunky and unfair.
For instance, you start out with two TERRIBLE guns that are no fun to fire. Both have slow rate of fire, slow moving projectiles, and low damage. Even the weakest enemies can't be one-shotted or outran; they are quick, they fly, and they relentless come after you while your DPS fails to keep up with them.
After your third death, you unlock a new gun. Don't get your hopes up though, because it is even worse. It's accuracy is so awful that it's useless beyond 10 meters or so.
I didn't bother sticking around to unlock anything after that. It felt like a chore and I won't be playing it again.
Would it kill the dev to put in ONE gun that is actually fun to fire? One enemy that is satisfying to kill?
