Red Solstice Tournament Results and...!!!

All teams showed an incredible skill, approach and tactics, and the scoring was very close but the time was on TEAM ROCK side!

1st place: TEAM ROCK with 12305 points
2nd place: TEAM STH with 12265 points
3rd place: TEAM TFT with 12135 points
4th place: TEAM Rx with 8420 points..

Short recap:
Team ROCK, almost wiped at start with it's bold move to start the game by capturing the Point Capture, but managed to pull it out and secure the fastest evac by guarding and escorting squishy followers through entire game!

Team S*** Tier Heroes, controlled the flow of the game perfectly, every situation was well thought and and their tactic was executed flawlessly, but due to reviving followers at the dropship they lost those few precious seconds!

Team Failtrain, not executed perfectly, but definitely with most style, using terminator nukes just for showoff because they could, their downfall was being too late for the wave 15 last mission, and they lost too much time!

Team Rx, they were not hardcore veterans, but their game had the soul, it showed how a team can work very well togheter in unpredictable situations, and how things can rise and fall and change on the field. Specially noted for the Vindicator discharge in the middle of the team, and surviving that!

And because everyone showed such great moves and tactics, we're awarding FLUFFY SHOTGUN to EVERY participant of the tournament, including the people that were sitting on the bench as the backup!

And everyone who participated in the tournament will get access to closed alpha of the new thing that will be available next month!

Big thanks and appreciation to the community goes from Ironward!

The Red Solstice tournament update

We are very excited to announce a TRS Weekend on Twitch, your community having grabbed the bull by the horn, ready to compete for the 2016 title. This year's crown will be awarded on Sunday evening by the Ironward development studio, on top of game prizes and in-game rewards.

First of all very important notice:
After careful analysis of practice rounds, we have decided to make a change to the scoring system. Staying in overrun will no longer grant extra points. Instead, every 35 seconds after wave 15, a 50 point penalty will be added.

A few more points and reminders:

- Team leaders must arrive on TeamSpeak on Sunday at 1PM US Eastern, or 5PM GMT.

- If you can sit on the bench throughout Sunday, while your team isn't competing, please let us know. We already have a few volunteers, ready to jump in a game should registered players not show. Thanks to everyone who raised their hand last Sunday on TeamSpeak.

- If you are willing to be on webcam during the stream, please let us know. We hope to get a minimum of 2 team members on the Skype Video Call, at the time their team plays. No microphone is necessary, and all you're expected to do is play the game.

- All events between Saturday and Sunday will be televised on Twitch.tv/opnoobsonline. Please bookmark the webpage at your earliest convenience.

We look forward to seeing you on Twitch, and more importantly, on TeamSpeak!

Good luck, happy practice time, and until Saturday!

The red clouds part, the dropship lands at an unknown location; and 8 marines set down on the Tharsis colony. I've been one of those marines a few hundred times, and none of those drops went as planned.

Your team will spend the next hour gathering items and supplies, weathering a constant flow of monsters as they roam the colony. This process begins slow, building to a crescendo as the game progresses. During the last third of the round, the danger's so intense: it requires the entire team working together to survive. This formula produces a unique and often panicked rush back to the dropship as the team tries to evacuate.

There are two kinds of marines: the ones that make it back to the dropship, and the ones left behind. If you're looking for a game with deep mechanics, replayability, and a challenge, look no further.

I used to play custom maps in WC3 similar to this game, now there is a stand alone of it's very own and well worth the investment if you are into teamwork and tactics. I highly recommend this top down view shooter game to those who like to really get into their specific roles and survive hordes of enemys while trying to complete the mission at hand.

This game also has a pretty decent community Teamspeak which is great for getting into games and having seasoned people around who are typically more than willing to help newbs become not so newb anymore haha I myself am always trying to learn new stuff and roles/builds for each suit/class that is available. Typical games last around 30 min - 1 hr depending on the settings/dfficulty.

This game is hard! Like really hard. I love it. Good varied classes and lots of reward for sticking to a class and leveling it up. To get the most out of this game you need to play with people, whether joining a public game or playing with friends. There are various game modes and maps that change the difficulty from tough to downright suicidal. There is a reasonable amount of customisation for each class and quite a few to choose from with different pros and cons to them. There is a lot to this game, it's really challenging and when things go well you really feel like you've accomplished something.

Not for the faint of heart.

Where to start? There is so many secrets in The Red Solstice.
The Singleplayer focuses on telling a story before the paradise was lost and the Multiplayer offers a great enviroment of blazing guns to giant/creepy monsters everywhere.

if you ever dreamed to walk on Tharsis colony of mars... this is the game for you.

The enemy is deadly, The marines are friendly, The devs are epic.
There is so many options to do, co-op in its fitness.

Have you played Dead Space already ? Like what "The Marker" did?
so now... meet the "The Strol".
Grab your gear, let's meet at twenty, the Dropship is waiting, dont forget check the Cafeteria this gonna be rough :)

This is a squad based tactical game that is for a new player difficult to master. Get ready to die a lot while playing because it's extremely easy to die. The nice thing is that when you finally beat this game you will feel a real sense of accomplishment.

Currently there aren't really that many players playing. However if you have some patience and do get to jump into a game, you will play with some really great people. Many of my friends list people are from this game.

This game doesn't require a high APM at all. As I said earlier this is a team tactical game where each class contributes to the overall survival of your group. Although if you do have a high APM the game will be easier to pick up.

I have personally been playing this game for over 2 years with (currently) about 700 hours played. This has been my go to game for entertainment whenever I don't know what to play.

Each and every game is different from the last since you there are multiple game modes to play on with different maps. Difficulties also change up the gameplay as well.

Many different classes to play that all do completely different things and plays different roles.

Here's my latest gameplay video:

Been playing since the early days and its really come a long way. This is as close as you can get to a newer version of those amazing Warcraft 3 custom maps like NOTD:AM of which I played and loved so much. Very akin to Alien Swarm as well.

Devs are still patching and working on this title as well.

Its also confirmed that wrecker is willing to die if they make a TRS2

"<12:08:58> "WRECKER": would die for TRS 2
<12:09:12> "WRECKER": doesnt matter if its 5, 10 15 years"

Myself and two friends, all lifelong gamers, simply could not beat anything in this game. Perhaps we are scrubs, but it is quite difficult to withstand the enemy onslaught in this game. The game itself looks good, and doesn't feel bad, but I suspect that many other gamers may pick this up and also quickly find themselves in over their heads.

I bought this game originally because from the store page, it looked like a Sci-fi themed, Action-RPG with Space Marines! However, I've come to find the game is much more than (and far from) that.

The Red Solstice at it's core is an involved 8-Player cooperative, top-down shooter. It feels similar to Alien Swarm in some respects, but the actual difficulty is higher, the missions are more involved and classes/skills you can chose to play as are much more elaborate. A full multiplayer mission session is generally about an hour long. Multiplayer aside, there is also a Single Player module to the game that offers a more involved story line which is directly related to the multiplayer experience--The single player missions can also be a great way to learn about the game's mechanics without making massive, lethal explosive faux pas' in multiplayer... ;D

The game can be very difficult, but this is what drew me in. My friends and I all bought this together, each time pushing further and further into the storyline missions after each retry. We all got very familiar with the "Game Over" screen, but eventually figuring out how to play the different types of marine classes and working together as a team was a very rewarding experience.

I have no qualms with the game in it's current state--there are on occasion bugs that will appear with new updates, but the devs are active and in good communication with the playerbase. The community is rather small, but there are often games forming together at an unofficial teamspeak most players use. Using the Steam discussion groups is a great way to find players to play with or learn from as well.

Excellent game!

By far, this is one of the best squad/co-op, top-down shooters I've ever played. The Red Solstice offers intense, cooperative teamplay with up to 8 players at once. The game provides several large maps with randomized mission pools and initial spawn locations that all take place in a (now) very hostile Mars colony; there's a huge amount of replayability. Players are offered an array of different marine classes to complete missions with--ranging from heavy weapons and armor, medics, squad support and demolition specializations--each class type has a very distinct play style and role. Higher difficulties in-game absolutely stress teamwork and good communication (more so than I've seen in almost any other game), along with requiring a healthy range of different marine classes.

The intensity, atmosphere and sound design of the game create an unforgiving environment that only a marine of the future would deserve. A simple mistake can take a great game session from "winning" to KIA in the blink of an eye--this is something I don't see often in other games--and The Red Solstice does it beautifully. The game's mechanics, threats and nuances have a moderate learning curve--death can be quick and sometimes mysterious--fighting through the heavy challenges is a huge chunk of fun in itself, but the accomplishment of fighting through a mission sequence to victory with your team or friends is a very rewarding feeling.

If you're familiar with the older Warcraft3 / Starcraft custom maps (Night of the Dead / Undead Assault) or you enjoy games like Alien Swarm, Fallout Tactics or any of the other isometric/tactical classics--I would highly, highly, highly recommend checking out The Red Solstice!

The game is fun to play, either when you begin and have no idea what to do and just try to keep surviving mutated creatures of Mars wave after wave or once you get the basics and try to aim for bigger challenges, you live good and crazy moments on TRS !

The Red Solstice is a gamer killer game. :)

Hard, tense, with atmospheric soundtrack, this one is equally good in single player and multiplayer. But there's nothing better than running around with friends, trying to survive on harsh Mars terrain with so many enemies zerging on you. This reminds me on Dead Nation game that I loved playing in co-op but TRS is much bigger and better.

Highly recommended. I bought it back in Early Access so the price was lower but there was no singleplayer at the time. Now it's a complete game with fantastic and responsive dev team and I hope it will get all the attention it deserves. Not to mention really good price! :)

It is a pretty Fun game, and i know that after so many hour playing it. Game is hard to learn, become easy as you progress. Lot of replayability. There is peak time to have game up in multiplayer but if you add friends playing that game or ask in the forum they usually don't refuse to play it back with you.
I would recommend that game of all the "Night of the dead", "alien swarl" or same "kind of game" lover to play this game.

So where do i start?
I discovered The Red S0lstice about 2,5 years ago,
asked if i could help out testing and BAm i was in.
Man this game was so hard but it feelt so rewarding once you do manage to win :D
The Game did come a long path countles of changes hundreds of patches some of them good ,
some of them bad but non the less the game evolved into something better.

The game itself is not easy at the beginning everything is new, you get lost quiet often and well
you die from time to time" Snatcher anyone?".
But once you figure out how stuff works (there are plenty of guides from the community) the game gets easyer.
You will have plenty of gamemodes and difficults to chose from also there are around 6 maps by now thats plenty of stuff to mess around with.
Just keep going you wont regret it.

I had an awesome time with the community and also the devs of this game and that seems kinda rare today in other games sadly.

If you are looking for an hardcore game that req. hard teamwork and ambition in order to win and have no problem with failing a few times than this game is totaly the right one to pick.
The singleplayer is in aswell you will have up to 10 missions that take you through the story and explain certain game mechanics overall for a 20$ price tag this game is awesome.

Stay Frosty :)

Similar to many other games where you make a squad, level members up and go an kill things. Didn't captivate me though.

Out of courtesy to developer, rating up

Based on some of the popular Warcraft 3 Mods like "Undead assault", it's good.
