Recensioni

“One Finger Death Punch is an enormously generous and exhilarating combat game - one whose capacity for expression and mastery is far broader than its simplistic appearance suggests.”
9/10 – Eurogamer

“One Finger Death Punch is a game that one must definitely play in order to understand and judge it. This is all about the feel, and there’s so much of it as you play it more and more.”
9/10 – Cheat Masters

“The game is an instant classic. There’s not a mark to be said against it. It excels in every possible way, challenging the best of us while still remaining pick-up-and-play enough that literally anyone could start in on it, and subsequently get hopelessly addicted.”

Informazioni sul gioco

Experience cinematic kung-fu battles in the fastest, most intense brawler the indie world has ever seen! With the unique 1:1 response system of One Finger Death Punch, players will feel the immediate feedback of every bone-crunching hit.

Pay tribute to the masters using five classic kung-fu styles mixed with additional weapons. Combine face-to-face combat with throwing weapons to recreate complex fight choreographies or just send bad guys flying through glass windows. Explore a world map with over 250 stages, 13 modes, and 3 difficulty levels. Unlock 21 different skills that can be combined in thousands of ways to assist you in your journey. Put your kung-fu to the ultimate test in the survival mode.

One Finger Death Punch is a game you can “feel”. The direct connection between your mouse and your character on the screen will be a new experience for many players. When you string together a long, complex string of kills, it feels like something “you” did rather than something the game let you do. When you play it you feel like you’re actually playing a Xiao Xiao stick animation video. We took inspiration from every kung-fu film we’ve seen. Every bit of effort was poured into delivering an easy to play game that was as addictive to play as Tetris.

Every Press Matters! DO NOT BUTTON MASH!

One of the biggest challenges we had while making the game is stopping the player from button mashing. When our friends play tested our game they’d instinctively button mash, they couldn’t help themselves. It must have been the many years of playing other brawlers that engraved it in their minds the notion of rapidly pressing buttons to kill your foes. The game’s designed in such a way that if you button mash, you die. Every press matters. Although playing the game should still be simple, you see a bad guy in front of you, you attack him, he dies. If you punch even once when there’s no enemy in front of you, you’re going to miss. If you miss, chances are you’re going to get hit. It’s a simple system but it’s ruthless to button mashers. We spent much time setting up visual and audio queues as well as many warnings trying to steer players away from their natural button mashing tendencies.

One Finger Death Punch is a stationary, fighter, button-mashing game that involves the use of only the left and right mouse buttons (as stated and repeatedly mentioned whenever the game starts up). There are 200+ levels with 30+ different abilities that one can utilize at his or her disposal to stay alive while beating the living crap out of supposed Kung-Fu-skilled stickmen.

The game has a Mastery system consisting of a 9-digit score, where every level you beat, you can earn either a Bronze (7+ misses), Silver (4-6 misses), Gold (1-3 missses), or Platinum (0 misses) medal based on how many times you missed your attacks, and the better the medal, the higher your score that round. In addition, if you get a Perfect (not getting hit once) on that level, your score gets boosted.

There are two types of gamemodes: Survival and Levels (at least, that's what I call it; it's actually called Levels).

Survival is basically like Regular mode, only that it starts off slow and continues to progress. There is also a Blind Survival mode, where you cannot see the hit patterns of your enemies, and so you're left guessing the attack sequence of your enemies by attacking them blindly. There is also a ??? form of Survival, yet I don't have much information about that one.

Regular is basically map progression through the many levels one has to complete. There are three tiers: Student, Master, and Grandmaster, with the latter being unlocked after finishing the final level of each tier (ex.: finish final Student level to unlock Master, and so on).

I find this game very fun for how simple it is. The varied abilities, plus the many different levels and cool, epic lightsaber rounds bring many different ways to play and many different ways for you to beat your enemies in more ways than one. How you wish to play the game and how you want to destroy your enemies is in your hands thanks to a controllable ability system, where you can decide what abilities you wish to use, be it freezing your enemies and smashing them to pieces, or completely obliterating everyone on the map with one smash to the ground.

Overall, the game is great, like many have said before me, very simple game, but lots of fun. WARNING: Can be very addictive.

As such:

Snowy's Scorey:
10: Masterpiece, highly recommended to play
9: Truly brilliant, recommended at its best
8: Excellent, recommended
7: Awesome, recommended, but with certain limitations
6: Decent, may or may not recommend
5: Meh, some things right, some things wrong
4. Err..., not sure if this game is up for grabs
3. Not worth looking out
2. Not worth buying
1. Quarantine yourself from this game

Game is a bit old after two years of release, but heck, still a great game, and I recommend it to all players of any age or interest. It's just so fun!

Very fun game. Easy controls, but very satisfying game to play. You feel like a god when killing these stick figures. Gets more difficult at higher levels (like it should be).
Already played this 10 hours, will easily play this game another 10 without getting bored.

Super fun to play...possibly racist. If you can get beyond the bad "Oriental" style vocals, the game itself is quite fun. Click left or right to attack using a variety of different martial art styles and weapons. There is also a light saber and old school kung-fu movie stages. With a variety of stages and modes there are many hours of bathroom door figure fighting and death to be had.

I impaled a guy on a sword handle, punched a guy so hard that his eye flew out of its socket, broke every bone in another's body with a mace, beaten the ♥♥♥♥ out of series of enemies with a broom and a fish, slamed a dude so deep in the ground that his legs were sticking out, and then procceded to pull him back out of the ground and use his corpse as a weapon to kill more guys.

10/10 would punch a stick figure's heart out again.

Tedious and repetitive, gets boring very quickly.

Not worth paying $5 for; this should be a free flash game.

Survival mode is the best way to kill time if you are alone or if your internet goes down randomly like mine.

I'm gonna be completely honest here.
This is one of the best, most fun, and most satisfying games I have ever played.

As you can imagine, One Finger Death Punch consists of a stickman, controlled by you, that beats up, stabs, impales, explodes, launches, and maims other stickmen left and right.

Without further ado, I'll list off some of the best aspects of the game:

Coolness Factor
This game is cool. There. I said it.
You know those games that look incredibly cool when you see that guy playing it, or one of your friends playing it, and you think "wow, that's really cool!" This is one of those games.
The response time this game requires of you is incredible, and probably 95% of it is played directly off reflexes. You can perfectly pull off a light-speed fist fight with someone and have no idea how you did it afterward.

It's Chaotic
This game is INCREDIBLY chaotic.
There's so much happening on the screen at the same time it can get difficult to see what's going on.
However, it's never too much to make you go "Damn, I can't see a thing on the freakin' screen!"
You will get random effects when you kill people. Eyeballs will fly, ribs will crack, people will go flying only to be impaled by their own weapons as they fall, and other incredible deaths, all in slow-motion.
But you know what? It all fits perfectly with the gameplay. It's not disctracting from your main goal.

Satisfaction
This game is so satisfying.
One Finger Death punch is a game you can play for hours on end because it's just so fun to play.
I cannot even describe to you how satisfying it is to finish a level after defeating 150 enemies. You feel like a god. You just want to play more. It's so perfect.

I'm sure there are a million more pros to this game I could name off, but you'd have to see them for yourself by playing the game. It's only Five Dollars (Canadian), and it's even less when it goes on sale.

This is a definite recommendation for anyone; casual or intense gamer.

Probably the most stylish 2-button video game I've ever played. Truly feels like a rush to play and it's highly addictive and super challenging when it picks up steam but it has its downfalls as well:

- Not 100% responsive. Occassionally, your mouse presses are ignored (specially when the slow-mo kicks in) and lead to getting hit.
- No Restart stage keyboard shortcut you have to use the mouse (which is quite irritating)
- The developers haven't even bothered themselves to add an Exit to windows button to any of the menus
- By playing this game you increase the chance of ****ing up your mouse buttons by at least 400%

If One finger Death punch wasn't so damn fun and perfect for small doses of time I would have had a hard time recommending it but it definitely is. Has a ton of stages to play through and master as well as some perks to buy and medals to earn.

Get it.

[EDIT] So I've been playing this game for a few more hours and I can definitely say that it has technical bugs. Every few rounds, I get a framerate hiccup just enough so that my mouse presses aren't registered for around 1 sec.
Also, the crap restart button you need to press with the mouse every time to restart the level isn't even available in some of the challenge levels. You actually have to back out into the world map and restart the level from there.

So far, I can definitely call these guys one of the laziest developers I've encountered. The game mechanics are fine and fun but everything built around them is more or less a trainwreck.

Still would recommend it on a sale though.
