I want to love this game. I love the theme and ideas of the game but the UI and controls are HORRIBLE. Not much of a review since I couldn't get a hold of the controls. And theres something wrong when playing. I don't know how to explain it but I just have some really weird feeling while playing. Maybe its the menu interface or the jagged pixels; I do not know.

This game is somewhere in between meh and allright.

PROS
>>> The crew management and skill building is nice. By endgame your crew really feels like your, customizable band of thugs

>>> There is a lot of wit and humor put into this game. Something pretty entertaining considering overall lack of interesting visuals.

>>> The combat is... unique. blowing up and looting ships is fun and overall pretty satisfying.

THE SHIPLOAD OF CONS *puns*

>>> after defeating the first of the four pirates, there is really no need to kill the rest, because they do not get any more difficult and are prettty much the same.

>>> eventually it gets boring and repetitive.

>>> Shipbuilding is supposed to be a major part of the game. i never once did it because i just found better ships. a better way to implament Shipbuilding would be, insstead of stealing ships, just take some of the building components and add them to your own vessel.

>>> Falling down a similar path as Shipbuilding, taming pets is pretty unescesary because anything a common crab or turtle can do a crewman can do better. pluss, it takes a crewmans weapon slot for an animal cage, and the good, powerful animals are way to hard to tame.

>>>All of the towns are the same, except for the items it sells. same with the islands, which are wasted except for buried treasure.

>>> There are no custom npc's with actual stories. The names, outfits, starting skills and stats, and story are randomized for ALL of the npcs. this would be okay if not all npcs were like this. (you can only find pirates that are godd at fighting at pirate cities for example.) The npcs are extremely repetitive.

thats all i feel like listing. a TEN BILLION TIMES BETTER pirate simulator is SID MEYERS PIRATES please go play that instead of this

So I have owned this game for a several yrs, I keep coming back hoping they have fixed the bugs but No, they instead ported a broken game to xbox lol before fixing it. I have never been able to complete a game or play longer then 5 hrs or so. I get a discent size ship and a crew of 4 to 6+ and the game starts to lag to the point its unplayable. many people i have talked to say this is the case for them to. some people get a crew bigger 15+ then it starts to lag. either way many people have been unable to actully beat the game. and most peple with many hrs in game are restarting the game once there first starts lagging.

I will change my Review to positive once they fix the game, and make it playable to actully beat the game.

Don't get me wrong, Pixel Piracy is a good game. In spite of that, however, is that there are some bugs or exploits that are so easy to use and abuse that it's completely game-breaking. For example is Intelligence and Agility. With 50 Agility, my captain was nearly untouchable, even at the Legendary Pirates. Ship building was overall fairly good, but became extremely laggy for me after a few hours of gameplay, no matter what settings I used and verifying the cache between sessions. Combat could use some improvements; my captain would scramble between a dozen different enemies before attacking any of them at all.

As it is, this game needs fixing and a fair amount of improvements. It's playable and enjoyable, but only just enough. Buy it on sale for less than a dollar and you'd be getting great value with a lot of potential when patched.

RRR! Being a Pirate hasn't been this fun since Assassin's Creed 4. Though lacking in the graphics, the fact that you can mold your crew and ship makes this game have loads of replay value... which is good because the Bosses in this game are pretty easy. The permadeath on crewmembers can either make this game really sad or more fun by sending your bad members on suicide missions. Loads of fun!

It is a fun little pirate micro management simulator. It isn't without its bugs (as you have seen from all the other reviews) however the current version did fix a LOT of the game breaking bugs. I would definitly grab it if you like pirates.

This game is ♥♥♥♥ now, orders mean nothing and your units just do whatever they want. They amount of times i've lost because the games own features didn't work is beyond annoying. Especially when you want to keep playing but find yourself giving up after just an hour or so at a time of frustration.

Let me preface this with I do not in any way shape or form, recommend this game to anyone at all.

This game is riddled with bugs most severe of which is a memory leak from just playing for 4 hours in one session.

I am a Game Design student and I decided to play this game which has been in my library for my Game Testing course.

Here's the list of all 31 bugs that I found
I snipped a few just to add a couple I really like that were cut off
I seem to have hit the character limit on a review

Abandoned by the devs, game breaking bugs, fps issues, gameplay bugs, and many more.

Console port botched and left for dead after lies by dev team for cash grab.

Do not purchase, you will regret. (unless it's an uber sale deal for massive discount)

Pixel Piracy was quite the unexpected experience when I started playing it, and in a good way. I expected some crappy little game with barely anything to it other than steam trading cards, but boy was I wrong.

Pixel Piracy is actually quite fun and entertaining to start and learn. You are essentially a captain of a pirate ship that you control and want to kill the 4 notorious pirates in the end. There are a plethora of things to do, abilities to learn, and items to obtain in this game. The game is a lot more in depth than I thought and they even including certain little things such as pooping and cleaning up the poop. Speaking about poop, some people even have the trait that makes them poop more Kappa. Further things included are ones such as map reading, scurvy, swimming, treasure maps, and more. Honestly, this game has just so much in it. I have even been murdered by my own crew before in this game very soon. Furthermore, the music and graphics for this game fit well enough and the gameplay is fun.

Although I liked a lot about this game, I did get annoyed a bit by the voices in the game as they are always speaking with these really annoying little voices.

It's a great game. Let me start out by saying that. My only gripe is I feel like it was forgotten. At least give us a one final patch or an occasional seasonal patch or something. I get a glitch where crew memebers will wait right on the edge of an island and not move, then when I try to manually move them onto the ship they jump into the water. Very upsetting. The ship builder is hard to use because you have to delete and create 1 block at a time, gets more lag the larger your ship is.

My gosh this game is plagued with bugs. Thus far, I haven't even been able to play a single game for an hour without game-breaking, yes, game-breaking bugs. Sometimes my crew gets permanently stuck when getting off the ship. I can reload and go somewhere else instead, but that's just a waste. Just now, I started making improvements of my ship and lo and behold I get some bug telling me that a point was unreachable. I thought "Okay, I'll just delete that point". Ended up deleting the entire ship and once I put on a single cube, it's unreachable. Ridiculous. And my ship was completely flat before, too! How's that unreachable? -_-. While I wish I could give this game a good review, these bugs make it impossible. Truth is, I like the game... when I can play it.

Its a great game, BUT there are a ton of bugs with it and the most notable one being that once your ship gets big enough and you have a ton of crew hands, the whole game gets really laggy and slow. The performance of it all just drops by about 80%. Hopefully this gets fixed in the near future. If it does, will change my thumbs down to a thumbs up.
