EvilQuest is a charming game. A must have for every pixel lover. Finally, a game that does not use the old concept of good vs bad, but lets you be the villian instead.
The game features a very lame, but original, storyline. This storyline combined with the medieval setting, old-school graphics, the random texts you exchange with NPC's, retro music and sounds with completely random switches between situation-oriented music, are what makes the game into the hilarious thing it is. It's even fun to just wander around the game world without following the storyline.
Despite the fact that the storyline seems insignificant and easy, you still have to focus on advancing through the plot. Because the game seems very easy at first you will probably end up just walking through the game as if it were a stroll in the park. However, if you do this, you will almost inevitably soon find out that the park is full of landmines, with which I mean that you will get stuck at some point because you did not pay enough attention earlier on.
This concept of going easy on you to let you soften up, and then beating the crap out of you, if you do, is most definitely a plus.
Of course, like any game, this one is not perfect. A pretty significant letdown was that the towns were much the same and had a lot of copy-pasted elements. Another negative point is that there is very little variation in your conversations with NPC's.
This game, costing only €1,99, gets you great value for your money. Don't be a cheap ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ and wait for it to be on sale, it is already a good enough deal.
