What the developers have to say:

“Greetings, hunters!

The Stomping Land game is currently under development.
  • It has had a year of progress and will continue to undergo production with frequent updates until the end of 2015.
  • The sole purpose of its current release is to have enthusiasts of survival and dinosaur games provide their first-hand insight and feedback while the game is early in development.
  • If you wish to jump into a more finalized gameplay experience, it is recommended to not purchase the game until release, as all features require balancing, bugfixing, and updates for smoother implementation.
  • The price of the game is a one time purchase, and will not increase for release, so you may choose to wait if you prefer a more complete experience from the start.
  • The purpose of the full price for Early Access is to filter in survival and dinosaur enthusiasts who embrace the development process. So if you are unsure, there is no disadvantage in waiting.

Here are the major gameplay features currently implemented:
  • 6 Dinosaurs: Styracosaurus, Carnotaurus, Gallimimus, Parahelicoprion, Ankylosaurus, Stygimoloch
  • Free-roam island with lakes/rivers/caves/forests and a surrounding beach/ocean
  • Persistent Day/Night cycle with random rain+fog
  • PVP weapon combat including roping prisoners
  • Resource collection
  • Crafting system includes campsite items(teepee/firpit etc). Craftable weapons include a bow and arrow, spear, and bolas
  • Swimming + Fish + Spearfishing
  • Tamable/Mountable dinosaurs
  • Random dinosaur stampedes
  • Tribe establishment with isolated chat
  • Offline play (same game, solo)
  • Dedicated servers hosted by players
  • Persistent character data per server

Updates
  • There will be a total of 15 dinosaurs implemented by release, as well as many more craftable items/weapons
  • Dinosaur AI is the only major feature very early in development, intended to be improved per dinosaur all the way until release.
  • The incentive to playing our Early Access game is to be able to voice a first-hand opinion for what your ideal dinosaur survival game would be, while it is still in development. So features are being presented and discussed with the playerbase on the forums.

If you would like to visit our community and see how everyone's discussions have helped shape the progress of the game, you can visit our forums at www.thestompingland.com/forum.

Thanks!

About This Game

The Stomping Land is a multiplayer survival game about living in a world with dinosaurs. Form tribes, setup camp, and hunt down Earth's historic beasts with the goal of becoming the dominant tribe on the island.

You are a hunter and a scavenger. You survive in a world with dinosaurs, and if any one of them catch you, they will end you in an instant. In fact, you can't kill most dinosaurs with ease, and the ones that you can don't provide plentiful amounts of food. It's the large ones that matter. The ones with bone crushing jaws and skull smashing tails that roam the island and fight each other, who provide the food you want. It's up to you to find methods of surviving for as long as possible, so you can tame these creatures to protect you from the relentless threatening engagements.

The Stomping Land game is currently under development, and we recommend to read the developer commentary above to get a solid insight on what to expect with your purchase.

UPDATE! (18set)
i have a update to tell.. and is about this game updates.. they just updated it and the update is just another update like the updates we have been updated untill now..
oh yeah.. UE4 transistion? not happening anymore (at least not anytime soon)... but if u guys wanna buy the game jig said that with enuff "awesome/interesting" updates.. maybe steam update the status update of TSL from wat is now, to an active update status... or u can pirate this updated version.. who cares, update.
For now. have this "awesome/interesting update":

Added Puertasauros (when they say "added" they mean: enabled Puertassauros animations/sounds/etc... cuz it was already there in the game files like 5 years ago and some servers had it already enabled, tweaking the game files)
Some Gallimimus and Stigy BS with a arrow
Now u have to eat much, much more small meat.. (thats not bad actually, makes ppl go for stuff more often but its just a balance.. not an update)
U get exp from killing stuff (again.. this isint bad too for the same reasons above.. but still.. just balancing, nothing new here)
Stampedes (about time hum? i guess no more "false ad" complains on this one.. but again.. they just "enable it", u had admin commands for stampedes on version 1)

EDIT: HAHAHHAHAH did u guys see the "stampede" yet?
plz.. alow me to blow... your... mind...:

*watch at 1m12s
*props to the guy who made the video.

is like a dino dance party.. wat a joke xD
this "stampede" is wat happends in this game when the broken AI find another broken AI.. they start to dance.. (if u have this game.. u KNOW what i am talking about xD)

So jig decides to put alot of dinos together... let the broken AI do the job and BAM! instant "stampede" XD
at this point.. all i can say is this:
http://cdn.memegenerator.net/instances/400x/32672290.jpg /EDIT

so.. are we to expect more 3 months of silence till next awesome/interesting update?

anyway... jig came to the forum and puked some words and "updated" his thing... like nothing happend.. not even an apology...

im sorry sir, good luck with your game, and enjoy your White Knight player population.

If I change it officially I lose my ratings and the review sinks to the bottom, never to be seen again. Consider this a PSA. Please sign the petition to help get our money back (http://chn.ge/WbVb92)

With the game no longer being purchasable from the store, I figure I'd clean up my review a bit to give people a more clear picture of what exactly happened to this game. The game had a playable version sent to all kickstarter backers before the launch on steam. A week later with the steam launch, it updated. Yay! A week later, another update! Things were looking good! Then the following week we got a message claiming "oh hey, we're working on the game but we can't talk about anything we're doing". We got this message every week for about a month. These were mostly posted on the official forums, leaving the Steam forum users to squirm the entire time, and I'm sure you can guess how that went.

But at the end of the first month, the guy responsible for what little PR the game had had his contract expire. He revealed he was told to hype the game up and lie to everyone, assuring us that everything was fine. Of course, this didn't go over so well. Fan boys resorted to insulting anyone who tried to get their money back, both of the forums went to absolute ♥♥♥♥. I got permabanned for my first offense. After enough of the conflict, a brave soul organized a petition to get everyone's money back and started talking with a lawyer. You can sign it here (http://chn.ge/WbVb92), we'd appreciate it.

The lead developer decided to open up after the petition almost got enough signatures to reach its goal, but all he said was "we're switching to UE4, it's fine". He mentioned this to Kotaku, and only Kotaku, before resuming radio silence. And now we're here. No updates, a toxic community, nothing but horribleness around everything involving the game.

I want the game to come back. I want it to get updates. I don't think anyone wants a game to suck. We play games to have fun, who doesn't want more fun? But this isn't fun. It was a pretty solid idea that got thrown out the window due to sheer unprofesionalism to the point where many believe the game to have been a scam from the get-go. Given the oppertunity, I'd take a refund. Even one in Gaben Funbux. If the game somehow rises from the dead, I'm not sure I'd want to play it. This whole thing has been exceptionally draining. I play video games to escape drama and ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥, I don't need this. No one needs this. The only good thing to come out of this is my original review. I didn't even think it was that silly, but a few people liked it enough to send me friend requests and we play other games together. If the game ever makes a comeback and delivers everything it originally promised, remember this review. Remember the unprofessionalism. Remember the petition. Remember that it once got so bad that some guy took 20 minutes out of his life to tell you how horrible the game was because he wanted to save you money.

Here's my original review.

I played the KS Backer version of the game for five hours with a group of 5 other friends. Here's what happened to us in our adventures:

We set up a few tents near a rock. We were the "Brotherhood of Rock". We loved that rock. I also tied a friend of mine up and dragged him into the water to catch fish. He was known as "Brother Bait". Our tents got taken down by non-believers.

We roamed the island trying to regroup after being betrayed by the almighty Rock. We eventually settled in a field more inland. Once there a man with no name above his head came and kidnapped us one by one to pull us into the volcano. He would then say "The volcano god thanks you for the sacrifice". We believed he sacrificed his own name to the volcano in order to become it's messenger.

After being terrorized by the follower of the Volcano for many moons, we happened upon a cave with a subterranian lake that roared at us. Upon further inspection the bottom of the lake was occupied by a couple whale sized fish and a lake god who had taken the form of a T-Rex half embedded in a wall. He ate one of our brothers.

Soon after we stumbled into glowing mushrooms which could bring back the dead. We used these to tame dinosaurs and ride them around the field harassing those who didn't believe in Rock. Our chants of "Ooga booga where the white women at?" echoed across the land, striking fear into the hearts of many.

But then our ♥♥♥♥ got griefed and we stopped playing.

I shall tell you a story. A story of a lone hunter of Gallimimus who had a nice little teepee and totem, and one night was roasting meat over a fire
when suddenly a bola went screaming by overhead!

The hunter sprang to his feet and charged at his attackers, but was subdued, and dragged around for a bit, before his captors, unsure of what else to do, released him and invited him to teamspeak. The hunter frolicked through the land with his new tribe, built a new teepee in the village, and hunted many dinosaurs.

they went on many adventures, including killing a Carnotaur with a hatchet... accidentally..., dragging AFK friends with bolas, and becoming so lost and hungry in a cave that they committed group suicide.

One day the hunters stumbled upon a lone villager named "Sinner". In the process of trying to murder Sinner, two of the hunters accidentally stabbed the original hunter in the face and without healing herbs, he was forced to respawn in the village. Twenty minutes later, the hunters dragged Sinner back to the settlement, where a cage was prepared for him.

There the hunters attempted to feed Sinner by offering him entire dinosaurs beneath his cage, but he was cranky and refused to eat. He told the hunters stories, and communicated with saviors who never arrived. Twice Sinner broke free, and twice he was re-captured, nearly drowning by being bola'd underwater both times.

In the end (about 120 minutes later), having grown fond of their pet named Sinner, the hunters dismantled his cage and released him back into the wild from whence he came.

Two thumbs up, would definitely recommend.
