What the developers have to say:

“Greetings, hunters!

The Stomping Land game is currently under development.
  • It has had a year of progress and will continue to undergo production with frequent updates until the end of 2015.
  • The sole purpose of its current release is to have enthusiasts of survival and dinosaur games provide their first-hand insight and feedback while the game is early in development.
  • If you wish to jump into a more finalized gameplay experience, it is recommended to not purchase the game until release, as all features require balancing, bugfixing, and updates for smoother implementation.
  • The price of the game is a one time purchase, and will not increase for release, so you may choose to wait if you prefer a more complete experience from the start.
  • The purpose of the full price for Early Access is to filter in survival and dinosaur enthusiasts who embrace the development process. So if you are unsure, there is no disadvantage in waiting.

Here are the major gameplay features currently implemented:
  • 6 Dinosaurs: Styracosaurus, Carnotaurus, Gallimimus, Parahelicoprion, Ankylosaurus, Stygimoloch
  • Free-roam island with lakes/rivers/caves/forests and a surrounding beach/ocean
  • Persistent Day/Night cycle with random rain+fog
  • PVP weapon combat including roping prisoners
  • Resource collection
  • Crafting system includes campsite items(teepee/firpit etc). Craftable weapons include a bow and arrow, spear, and bolas
  • Swimming + Fish + Spearfishing
  • Tamable/Mountable dinosaurs
  • Random dinosaur stampedes
  • Tribe establishment with isolated chat
  • Offline play (same game, solo)
  • Dedicated servers hosted by players
  • Persistent character data per server

Updates
  • There will be a total of 15 dinosaurs implemented by release, as well as many more craftable items/weapons
  • Dinosaur AI is the only major feature very early in development, intended to be improved per dinosaur all the way until release.
  • The incentive to playing our Early Access game is to be able to voice a first-hand opinion for what your ideal dinosaur survival game would be, while it is still in development. So features are being presented and discussed with the playerbase on the forums.

If you would like to visit our community and see how everyone's discussions have helped shape the progress of the game, you can visit our forums at www.thestompingland.com/forum.

About This Game

The Stomping Land is a multiplayer survival game about living in a world with dinosaurs. Form tribes, setup camp, and hunt down Earth's historic beasts with the goal of becoming the dominant tribe on the island.

You are a hunter and a scavenger. You survive in a world with dinosaurs, and if any one of them catch you, they will end you in an instant. In fact, you can't kill most dinosaurs with ease, and the ones that you can don't provide plentiful amounts of food. It's the large ones that matter. The ones with bone crushing jaws and skull smashing tails that roam the island and fight each other, who provide the food you want. It's up to you to find methods of surviving for as long as possible, so you can tame these creatures to protect you from the relentless threatening engagements.

The Stomping Land game is currently under development, and we recommend to read the developer commentary above to get a solid insight on what to expect with your purchase.

How about you just keep the money and "accidently" release the source code, then people who care can make this into what it should be.

This could have been a good game, but sadly it's not. Currently it's just a buggy meltdown of naked barbarian being head-butted by buggy dinosaurs (which is still fun a bit).

The devs ran away once, leaving their game which has been then removed from steam... And now it's back after an "update" so small and sad that it couldn't even exist. Maybe people still have hope this game will one day be something, but currently it's not.

Early accesses are always risky, so don't risk your money on this one. It has not made any progresses in one year, and it's not far from being universally recognized as a "scam".

So go try theHunter primal I guess

DO.
NOT.
BUY.

The creator of this game time and time again has scammed his supporters, look up various pcgamer articles and other outlets and you'll see that he will just flat out NOT UPDATE ANYTHING FOR MONTHS. I mean, not like it matters because the game's controls and scheme run like something you'd see out of professional hockey. The multiplayer in this game is a flat out joke, most of the time "combat" consists of you circle around the enemy jabbing him with a stick for literal hours until one of you gets tired. This isn't Rust fun, this is "Please exterminate the dinosaurs" as you await a meteor to slam into this game and destroy it, just like it's destroyed AI.

I rate this game a -4/10

I was half tempted to contact steam support for a refund, but because he pulled it from the steam store he prevented everyone from getting a refund.

If you are looking for a game with diverse crafting system with sneaking impletemented and a beautiful landscape thats held by dangerous dinos that will hold their island with their life. Well this COULD be the game. If of course, they would actually update the damn thing. Honestly, I've lost hope for this game. If you want to seriously look for a game with crafting, and an opposition that can give you a serious thrill (AND THATS ACTUALLY UPDATED ONCE IN A WHILE). Get the Forest, easily a much better purchase then this crap.

The videos they show don't show what the actual game is like. It's horrible. Had to manually edit the config file just for it to run, because they had everything at the maximum settings.

A true piece of trash.

This game has not been updated in monthes and I honestly don't expect an update.
90% of the cotent you see in trailers is all false and not in the game ( customization, certain dinosaurs etc).
The developers literally just want to steal your money.

Don't buy this game.

<PLEASE READ BEFORE YOU BUY!>

This will be my first ever review of a game since I started on steam years ago. Just like everyone else I wanted to believe in this project, With every fiber of my being did I want this project to be a success. But unfortunately it is not. I've waited patiently to see this game update and reach its goal but alas it has been a trap since day one. The game is not even technically out of alpha and is no longer updating. It barely has any features with a small handful of dino's from a large list that was promised to us. Pretty much the creator grabbed all he could, up and ran. Then when steam took action came back just briefly with one or two updates to put it back up on sale again just to eat people's money. My advice is to look elsewhere if you want a Dino Survival game, I am currently looking at a few other alternatives myself. Please heed this warning or you too will fall into this trap. Thank you

Scam Simulator 2014/15. Steam won't refund. Has been removed off of steam once before, developers added in content that was already in files that people modded in months ago, to save their asses. Not enough optimisation.

Go buy yourself's somthing nice, not this trash.

A game of huge promise that unfortately got floped. You play as a caveman hunting and survival in the age of the dinos. the devolpers have gone silent and steam has fulling this game from the store but it seems to have retured. i bought this game near its early release i still like this game sadly the avaible servers have noone on them and it gets lonely venturing on an island. DONT BUY THIS GAME AT THIS PRESENT STATE UNLESS YOU HAVE FRIENDS WILLING TO BUY IT TOO

* CAUTION DO NOT BUY THIS *

Either it is an early access scam, or the team behind the game had fallen apart and the devs have no idea what to do.

Sad to say, the devs seem to have abandonned this. Long story short:

1) Devs went off-radar for 3 months.

2) Then they said that the game will shift to a new engine, but never provided any screenshots of the new engine content or any other evidence of the game being worked on.

3) Again no contact with Devs

4) Stomping land was pulled down from steam by steam itself, as steam assumed that the game is dead.

5) Devs came back, made a patch that unlocked a few things that were already in the game files. No new content whatsoever was added.

6) As a result of point 5, steam decided to bring this back for sale. So far, we have not seen any evidence of the game being worked on anymore or the game being really moved to a new engine. Either its a scam, or the team behind the game had fallen apart and the devs have no idea what to do.

I'm glad I got this as a gift instead of losing my own cash, but either way I wish I had received something else. No offence to the guy taht gave it to me - he meant well.
