Acerca do Jogo

The first hi-res 2D fighter from the creators of the Guilty Gear series! BlazBlue is a traditional 2D fighter where two characters participate in a duel. The story of the game involves dissent and destruction among a powerful council, known unofficially as "the Library," which controls a great power that once saved humanity, but which now wields its power in protective, some say repressive, ways.

A round is called a "rebel" and one match can consist of one to five "rebels". To win a round, one player must either incapacitate the other by inflicting damage through various attacks to reduce their opponent's health to zero or by having more remaining health than their opponent after the clock runs out. Every character has a weak, medium and strong attack. Also every ones has a "unique" technique, called a Drive attack, which is different for each character.

Key Features
  • 12 unique batants to choose from! - Choose a character that represents your own fighting style like the lightning-fast Taokaka or the wickedly powerful Tager.
  • Drive your way to victory! - Use the unique Drive Attacks specific to each character to decimate your opponent. Depending on the character control the elements like wind and ice or even absorb the life force from your opponents.
  • Experience the beauty of high-resolution hand-drawn sprites on 3D backgrounds all in glorious high-definition.
  • Various modes - Arcade, Versus, Score Attack, Training, Gallery and a pletely fleshed-out Story Mode that tells the tales of each character.
  • Bonus Contents - 2 CD's worth of OST included with a total of 42 music!

This game is amazing. I've always wanted to try out Blazblue, but I didnt have a console (Besides Wii, but that is irelevant.)
PLUS
THERE MAY BE SOME SPOILERS.
Just saying.

+Positives

****** SIX STARS. Story-This is a good introduction to the series,(For me at least.)and a headache at that. With all the cutscenes and different branching paths. What caught me off guard is that, due to the game's story (Which I wont spoil here, sorry. :3) all endings, even the ones where the character you plays die, is cannon. It becomes a major headache, but its a good one. Which had me actually getting myself killed in every fight then I take the opposing fighter down. The final finale, the true ending, blew my mind, AND calmed me down, knowing I have ended the calamity trigger. Oh, and bonus points for the 96% of cutscenes being Visual Novel. :D

**** FOUR STARS. Music- The music totally blends in with the scenarios. The specific tracks for when two certain characters battle, both in story and the other modes, it brings in the feel of the two character's stories and need to fight the other person. Some have given me tears, a bit. This combined really well with the story moments, too. Only downfall is that for some reason, the BGM in the visual novel cutscenes weren't implemented, yet its still in the files. Why? I dont know.

**** FOUR STARS. Extra's and After-Game content- There isnt really any After-Game content besides what you unlock as you play. The "Teach Me, Miss Litchi!" episiodes you unlock from getting 70% in characters stories was great, and helped me further understand the Blazblue universe. The extras, including the gallery, are very fun to play, and is a nice change of pace if you just want to stare at the georgeous art from the story and Arcade.

****** SIX STARS. Combat- The combat is, at its first look, instantly reconiseable. Except for the barrier bar. I learned how to use it on my own after a few battles. You have everything a "Standard" Fighter would have. The Health Bar, Timer, and Special bar for your special attacks. Here, though, its called Astral Heat.

You have Astral Distortions and a single Astral Finisher. The Distortions have certain requirements to pull off- like 50% of your Astral Heat, or 25%. All Astral finishers require 100%, and pulling them off IS THE BEST FEELING EVER. All Astral Finishers have a certain Initial Attack that activates the rest of the finisher. These are usually easy to dodge, due to them absolutly overkilling the enemy. (This also requires for it to be THE FINAL ROUND, where if either of you win, the game is over. not if you had a winning streak. So chances for a Astral to hapen is not often, so you always feel awesome when you pull one off, and the fact that your opponet MUST have 20% of their health left on the final round to actually use the Ars Magus.) Though, they all have their own range. (♥♥♥♥ing ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥, Jin. His astral makes the whole floor his target. ARRRG.) The opponet doesnt die immediately, he/she is forced to sit there and watch as their character gets mauled, shreded to ribbions, anniliated, ect. Without all these specials, the combat is still fast paced, and the tide can change ON THE SPOT. You can use the barrier to take 0% damage as you think of a plan to break your opponet's skull, or, if you get locked in some combo from your opponet, you can break your barrier to do a massive counter, knocking them very far away. YOU HAVE A LOT OF OPTIONS.

When you beat a character's arcade, you get access to their Astral Finisher, and as a bonus, Infinity. Infinity can be accessed by hovering over the character that has it, and press the taunt key. then select the character.
Infinity gives the character a massive advantage, or eliminates their disadvantages. Like, very fast movement speed+ Extra attacks. Good luck getting them all! However, they can only be used on Versus and Training. All the other modes dont allow Infinity for various reasons.

*Negative

ZERO STARS. Multiplayer- ....Its non-existant. Why does the console version have it, but not us?! THE GAME EVEN MENTIONS MULTIPLAYER, BUT WE HAVE NO OPTIONS TO TURN IT ON. I would absolutely love to see if im skilled against the others in the Blazblue fanbase/universe. Im sure many of you were disappointed as well when you found out this. Valve, or whoever got this port on here, will you please give us multiplayer? Please?

Total Judgement-Overall, 90/100. SS rank. (Super Super.)

Im sure it deserves this grade. I would give it a perfect score if multiplayer was admitted. I cant find ANY other faults with this game. If your a fan of Blazblue, or fighters, im sure you would absolutely enjoy this game to no end. 10$ is a absolute steal for this gem.

Complex, but very satisfying!
Is harder to master than other titles in genre, but is a joy to play.
The controls are responsive, the soundtrack is awesome and the art is fantastic.
There's no online multiplayer. Even with this downside, Calamity Trigger is a great start to people, like me, who never had an opportunity to try BlazBlue.
You can't go wrong for this price if you like fighting games!

SHORT VERSION
Do you like great fighting games? If you answered yes, then go get it. It's a good buy.

LONG VERSION
BlazBlue: Calamity Trigger is a 2D fighting game, and the first entry of the BlazBlue franchise followed by Continuum Shift and Chrono Phantasma.

Calamity Trigger features 12 fighters, each with their unique gameplay, strengths and weaknesses.
As a fighting game it's important to mention that the game can be played excellent on keyboard without any trouble. The combos are fairly easy, and you will always find new ways to chain them into better ones.
The controls are responsive and there's no delay at all. Graphics wise the game looks gorgeous: the 2D sprite models are looking good, and integrate well into the 3D background, while animations are smooth and beautiful as well.
Aside from the usual story mode, there Arcade mode for every character, mini-games and tons of unlockable artworks to keep you busy for a long time!

However like most games, Calamity Trigger has its' flaws too: first off the Developers removed the multiplayer, though it was part of the game for the Games For Windows Live release, and second the game tends to have 30 FPS limit sometimes due to a bug. To fix the 30FPS limit you have to restart your PC, aside from this issue, the game runs smooth with 60FPS cap.

Overall Blazblue: Calamity Trigger is an amazing fighting game. I can highly recommend this to anyone, whether you're new to fighting games or a veteran in the genre.
And as a Guilty Gear/Blazblue fan is a no-brainer to buy, since it increases the chance of seeing more recent games from the developers on Steam!

PRO
- Graphics are beautiful. The 2D sprite models seemlessly "integrate" into the 3D background.
- Animations looking smooth and nice.
- Soundtrack is amazing.
- The game features 2 different language voice acting: Japanese and English. Both are solid.
- Controls are responsive. The game plays smooth. Combos are easy to pull off. Can be played with keyboard without any difficulties.

CONS
- Lack of multiplayer.
- Occational 30 FPS cap bug. To fix the FPS limit you have to restart your PC.
- Steam cloud doesn't work, though it's shown on store page.

This was the most enjoyable game I've played in a long time. Even if you ever owned the GFWL version like me, there's no harm in purchasing it once more. You even get the amazing soundtrack. All that for a decent price of €8.99 or your region's equivilant.

The story is well written and it always kept me intrigued. Even without netplay you still can enjoy the amazing story.

Let's hope for more BlazBlue in the future..

People tell me it's the worst BB game, it is published by some shady company, proceed to not give a damn and buy it anyway for the sole purpose of voting with dollar and getting Arc's attention. I want to believe that some day we'll see some actual good PC ports of their games. I want to believe.

Mind you this is an offline-only version. It appears that NETWORK mode was lost during the migration from GFWL to Steamworks. As for the rest this version is identical to GFWL one.

P.S.: There is a bug that was reported to be present since the initial release that locks framerate to 30fps after a certain PC uptime. You'll have to restart your PC to unlock a higher framerate.
