An official word plus exciting news...

Announcement made by Zane Saxton

"Comrade’s,

We would like to apologise for the recent time-bomb related bug that prevented you from playing Spintires, it was totally unacceptable and we appreciate the frustration it must have caused you.

A member of our community named ‘Localhost’ along with our Moderators had kindly provided you with a temporary fix that you could use whilst we continued to produce the official fix.

Luckily we have now identified and fixed the bug which was not sabotage like some of the media suspected. The bug was identified by Pavel when running an older test build side-by-side with a newer build - it turns out it was some code that Pavel had invented to try and deal with piracy and DRM issues.

Pavel explains here: “bug was related to self-checks that which I tried to invent myself to prevent the game from being pirated and modded”.

After the recent media speculations, it’s entirely up-to-you if you will believe such a story or not. However, with that said, we accept responsibility for not communicating with our community as much as we should have and perhaps if we had done so, the guesswork by the media wouldn't have been steered so negatively.

It was interesting to read the conspiracy theories about sabotage from the media though, especially when an unnamed media outlet clearly announced they haven’t even contacted Oovee at all about the subject. It does highlight the fact you should only consider official statements directly from the Oovee forum or website as true.

We would like to take the opportunity to thank our moderators and members who supported us during these difficult times, your actions do not go unnoticed.

Now it’s time to move onto something more positive…

Behind the dense forests, swampy lakes (or big black twisters) we have been working hard to secure a deal with a partner, and it is with great pleasure we can now announce that Spintires will be coming to both Xbox One and PS4 expected to arrive early 2017.

If you are not a fan of consoles, do not fear - it is also good news for our PC fans since it now means we will be expanding the development team for that platform as well! It may have taken us some time to secure and announce such a deal but work has already commenced and in the next few months you will hear more details about the ports and additional updates for the PC platform too.

Many thanks for your continued support, love and inspiration.

Zane Saxton, and everyone from Oovee."

DEV080316 - Next Update: preview teaser

Hello everyone,

After the last couple of weeks with our bug problems and subsequent fix, we mentioned that we stopped work on the update that we have been working on since Christmas. So, after a weekend of recovery, we are now back working on the update. In the next week we expect to receive the update for testing and at that time we will let you know what new features are included, some of which you are going to love, and some bug fixes. But we will tell you now that this update will include full native support for the new "Steam Controller".

Below are some images from the forthcoming update. Don't ask any questions, because we won't answer them as we will give you details of the changelog when we receive it for testing.

I really enjoy the fun you can have with friends and the teamwork you need to complete objectives. I also enjoy the amount of mods the community for this game has made, really adds a lot to the game.

The concept of a 4x4 game in this format is truly a fun affair too injoy ,But sadly due too a lack of dev's retaining inspiration too keep the game fun for the player the player's of the game have made a huge effort too keep the fun going . But sadly this is also adjusting the format of the said game, bye players making more maps of hill climbs and rock crawling tracks and such with no thought too the game . while other 's try too do the best at making the said best map, which seem way too large too injoy in just two hours, all have way too many delivery points and things get dull . Especialy for the single player . So in short great game for 4x4 driving and logging loads of logs and it is realy alot of fun with friends and the player's of the game who make all the new stuff i say ty very much and too the dev's pull your finger out you can do better than this . when will we see a game on steam not be a quick turn over for a talented team ?.

Pros
-scratches an itch no other game has succeed in doing
-most satisfying mud simulation/terrain deformation of any game ever
-looks great and runs very well on low end systems
-dedication to accurate sound
-downed trees was a great addition to obstacles
-the first time I played each map it was so much fun

Cons
-casual mode should no exist
-headlights are an inconvenience as you see more with them off
--extra lighting is a dead weight vehicle addon
--why can you see better at night when your lights are off?
-fuel is never an issue in the game
--it's practically infinite in casual mode
--as long as you keep your vehicle in low gear fuel lasts longer than anywhere you need to go and there is no incentive not to use this strategy
-vehicle customization at the start of the game is OP and ruins the challenge of finding good trucks
-I have been truly stuck only three times
-water is not an issue, hold forward and you will survive going under
-there is NO reason not to go for cloaking points
--there is never a time where on has to consider getting the cloaking point, there is no risk
--having to navigate without cloaking and find one's way blindly would be interesting gameplay
-the only map that had given me any trouble was Flood because of invisible pits below the water
-the crane truck is useless because there is never a mess that it has to sort out
-devs let their pride cloud their judgment and allow the ♥♥♥♥♥iest camera I have ever tried to use to continue to exist
-no replay value
-the game's general attitude towards difficulty and extending gameplay is backwards

Other
-I understand maps take a ton of effort and time, but they are too small for what the fuel one is given and the lack of obstacles to justify the size
-the game has so much wasted potential
-either remove the clear cloaking areas or make them incredibly risky to unlock

This is the best off road experience you can get in a game. Awesome graphics and physics. When you unlock an achievment it is really quite an accomplishment. Game is extremely hard but rewarding when reaching goals. Oh yeah, did I mention the Mods, many new trucks, jeeps, 6wd, even monster trucks to choose from. Simply beautiful. Highly recommend.

Well it's mid July (2016) right now, and the game has been stagnating for a long ♥♥♥ time. It was a mistake to launch this game without wheel support, and a cab view, one of which they fixed, wheel support, but still no cab view.
The devs seem to be active, at least they are sending messages out, but still no real worthwhile game development. What exactly are they doing? The privce is still too high particularly since the game fails in so many areas, despite being great in others. It can't be ignored that the game as it stands, is not bad. The good parts are great! The mod community continues to pump out good content, but it's numourous bugs, stupid camera controls, lack of development and dwindling online multiplayer activity mean that right now... It's not really worth recommending. I still like it, i want it to succeed, but the devs don't seem to be working on it whatsoever. They are sending messages sure.. but nothing actually happens. Save your money, spend it on something else and come back IF they ever actually do some development on this. Or! if you can pick it up in a sale at say 80% off, then absolutely. Get it.

I can recommend Spintires to all simulation game and off-road fans who have the patience to play a game that is basically about delivering lumber from A to B and exploring the maps. The thing that makes this game special is the deformable mud and soil. Some say it is the best off-road simulator. I believe it is the only one out there (that is not about racing). You can still probably find the old demo for the game somewhere on the internet and see if you like it. The full game has more features than the demo.
To many this is an unfinished game and it probably won't be finished but it is playable and enjoyable; however, it is not for everybody.
There is also a multiplayer but you can't save you progress in multiplayer.
Spintires has great mod support for trucks but lacks proper mod support for maps but there are ways to get modded maps into the game.
The achievment system drove me on to finish every map in the game and I would say you need about 4-6 hours per map to get most of the achievments. Just be ready that you will fail at your several first attempts.
Also wait for a sale or search for great offers on Humblebundle store or Indie Gala store.

I can't believe I had not reviewed this game since it was my favorite game for a long time

Beautiful, entertaining (especially with mods), straight forward, and can run at max settings on just about any pc. This physics-based offroad game is the only one of it's kind and I'm so glad they did so well with it. There were some hold ups earlier in production, but they're trucking along just fine now ;)
