Dev Update 25.09.2014

Good afternoon Off-roaders,

A few days ago I mentioned in a topic on the Oovee forum that I would be releasing information and details of the next update after internal discussions.

So to begin with, I would like to thank you all for your patience and understanding - a company of our size cannot work as quickly as a lot of the larger companies. But let us not dwell on what hasn't happened, let us focus on what is to come. Below you will find the list of what we can see in the up and coming update.

This will be the first large update - the list reflects the workload that can be handled at a time and also allows for a shorter development time.

- Rocks bounce
- Trucks fly through air when connecting winch
- Supports can get stuck under ground
- Manually loaded logs bug
- MP Map not synced after disconnect and rejoin
- When in MP lobby, buttons become greyed out when too many players join and leave
- Unknown floating bug in MP
- Remaining texture issues
- Remaining terrain issues
- Not all MP sessions show in lobby

Add - HUD removal option for taking screenshots
Tweak - Increase water depth allowance when vehicle has Snorkel (UAZ)
Add - Single map saves
Tweak - Controller inputs need to be Anolog instead of Digital (throttle/brake)
Add - Freeroam camera
Add - Mod support
Tweak - Increase draw distance for high graphics settings

Add - Option to re-join last server
Tweak - Chat box: Allow scrollability and toggle.
Add - Show 'In Progress...' Games
Add - Last truck used

Estimated Launch date: 22/10/2014
*The date shown is an estimation based on a primary analysis of the contents of the update. The date above is subject to change - upon work reaching development targets, if necessary, the date will be changed to reflect progress and circumstances at that time.

We would like to apologise for the delay, however, we are now back on track and able to bring you updates and more to the game in the future.

Happy trucking!

Since I have had the chance to test the release build for a day, I'll go ahead and list some positive and negative things about the game, in it's current state.

- Terrain deformation
- Tire pressure simulation
- Realistic water behaviour
- Driving physics in general
- Maps are pretty big, and full of challenging terrain
- You can mow down trees ^_^
- Multiplayer
- Vehicles of all sizes, ranging from the small UAZ (Jeep) to the monstrous 8x8 Maz.
- Winching is fun and very useful. You can attach it to both other vehicles and trees.
- Attaching a crane to your truck, to pick up lumber, move rocks out of the way and sometimes to help push the truck up.
- The game is very well optimized.
- Trucks take damage, and consume fuel. You can install a utility addon for mobile repairs, or a fuel cistern for re-fueling in the field.

- The camera could be much better. With the tallest addons it can be a real challenge to see ahead.
- Maps could be more varied. It's mostly the same mix of grass, trees, mud and water.
- The only official objective is to haul lumber. More variety would be welcome.
- Only one map will save your progress at a time - if you select another map, your progress wil be lost on your current one. This will be fixed in the future though.
- No wheel support at launch, though it does support the 360 controller (or others if you use Xinput or a similar program). Wheel support is a planned feature.
- No analogue braking. This will also likely be fixed. Throttle and steering are analogue though.
- Lack of proper manual shifting. This'll probably come along with steering wheel support.
- Draw distance should be customizable.

With all that said... As a VIP backer on the kickstarter campaign, and having had access to the beta since May 9, I can safely recommend this game to anyone with an interest in off-roading. If you've tried the tech demo, you know what to expect. Just think bigger; more trucks, more functionality and much bigger maps. All in all, even in beta, this is perhaps the most fun I have had in a realistic off-road game so far. Try the tech demo first; if you like it - there's a safe bet that you will enjoy the full game.

The devs seem committed to continuing to improve the game after launch, both with free updates and dlc packs later on.

Being a VIP Backer of this game when it was started on kickstarter I got to watch this game develop from the ground up and can happily say that the progress in which it has come from the tech demo is awesome. Awesome vehicles, a solid assortment of vehicles with awesome add-ons to change up on the trucks to suit any situation whether it be needed for hauling, repairing, fueling or just plain Sunday cruising. Awesome terrain with water crossings, narrow timber bridges, hill climbs, dirt roads, muddy roads, tarmac roads or why not make your own road. It can be a logistical nightmare whilst doing long hauls on your own whilst having to consider damaging your vehicle, low fuel and just plain getting lost but with multiplayer being implemented it is sure to be the perfect package.
If you are like me and love driving, driving games or even off-roading in real life then this is the game for you. You will not find a better off roader. Highly recommended! EDIT: Check out my screenshots on my profile!

As one of the closed beta testers and been following along with this game since the early stages, I can higly recomend this game to anyone who is a fan of trucks, simulators, or just amazing games. There are great things going for this game, a great development team working on it and a wonderful growing dedicated community to back it. There are many wonderfull modders out there as creating quality content to enjoy.

The trucks are absolutly beautiful and well detailed, the maps are very great as well, a great challenge and a load of fun!

This game is fun, and if you enjoy offroading there are certainly some hairy moments that will keep you on the edge. The reason for me not recommending is because this is not a finished product. I would agree this is an alpha or pre-release, and were it marketed this way I would be fine with it, but I thought I was buying a finished product. If you want to try a finished product, wait for about a year.

1. There are no saves in multiplayer, if the host loses an internet connection, everyone, including the host, are kicked to the main menu and 100% of the progress is lost. You cannot continue the game the next day.
2. You only get a very crappy 3rd person view. Its nice when you are trying to get out of a bind, but worthless if you are trying to drive through a trail or a straight line.
3. There are 6 maps, but all of them are the same thing, with slightly different surroundings. You take logs from point A to point B while trying not to get stuck in 5 foot deep mud pits every 20 yards. Nothing else to this game.
4. Exploring is not even fun, since there is too much mud. "It is not drive for a bit, and oh, there's some mud." Its "yeah, finally got out of the mud, oh wait there's more." I spend 95% of my time in 1st gear, Differential locked, and all wheel drive engaged. Otherwise you get stuck every 20 feet.
5. The developers have promised more content, such as fixing the bugs, views, and adding more content, but again, this is supposed be a finished product.
6. There are mods out there, but you cannot use any and play multiplayer.

Folks, if you do not like my review, that's ok, but I really do not care. It is my opinion. Any fanboy comments that do little more than insult me or my review are simply deleted, please do not waste your time. There is nothing I have written that is untrue about this game.
