About This Game

Call of Duty® 2 redefines the cinematic intensity and chaos of battle as seen through the eyes of ordinary soldiers fighting together in epic WWII conflicts. The sequel to 2003's Call of Duty, winner of over 80 Game of the Year awards, Call of Duty 2 offers more immense, more intense, more realistic battles than ever before, thanks to the stunning visuals of the new COD™2 engine.
  • The #1 WWII shooter development team returns with an amazing new experience: Developed by Infinity Ward, creators of the award-winning Call of Duty. All-new, unprecedented enhancements from stunningly realistic graphics to seamless gameplay, thanks to the revolutionary COD2 engine, groundbreaking AI, and choice-based gameplay innovations. Beautifully rendered snow, rain, fog, and smoke, combined with dynamic lighting and shadows, make this the most intense WWII shooter yet.
  • New conflicts and enemies to face: Call of Duty 2 brings you bigger battles, with more tanks, troops, and explosions on-screen, and bigger scope, with a wide range of locales and environments across the European Theater. Fight "The Desert Fox" across the scorching sands of North Africa as wave upon wave of tanks clash in the desert. Use rocket-propelled grappling hooks alongside your Army Ranger squad to storm and scale the cliffs of Pointe du Hoc against a relentless German counterassault, and slog through urban chaos as a tank hunter in war-torn Russia.
  • Rely on your squad as never before: The dozens of Allied soldiers surrounding you are fully aware of the changing situations around them, and will let you know using an all-new, context-sensitive battle chatter system. They will draw enemy fire, lay down cover for you, use foxholes and moving tanks for cover, and warn you of incoming enemy troops and hostile fire.
  • Choice-based gameplay: Play through missions in the order you see fit. Will you decide to play first as a sniper or as a tank commander? It's your call. Open-ended battlefields allow you to individualize your tactics and choose the order in which you complete your objectives.
  • Multiplayer Mayhem: Go online for intense Axis vs. Allies team-based multiplayer action, building on the hugely popular Call of Duty multiplayer modes.

While old, cod2 still holds its top place in my library.
Online community is alive, multiplayer servers are (sometimes) full and (always) fun to play, and, at least in Europe, we have online tournaments and lans still going on.
Singleplayer campaign is great but not extremely long, so If you want to buy this game only for the story, i suggest you waiting for a discount. If you consider giving up your social life (equals to starting playing multiplayer), then it is worth its price here. Graphics are not breathtaking, but consider them great as for almost 10 years old game.
Since 2008 I have spent over 500 hours playing and I am not planning on stopping anytime soon.

Although a bit dated, still one of the most nastalgic memories for me as a youngling. I would completely recommend this game to anyone interested in any FPS games.

Pros:
There is no contrived plot. You’re just playing through epic battles from WWII.

It’s still rated T. It’s not super dark, or gritty. You don’t have a bunch of ugly dudes getting angry and swearing a bunch, and trying to make you cringe by performing particularly inhumane acts.

You get to play as the British and Russians, as well as Americans, and get to fight in different environments. Snowy bombed out Russian cities, vast African deserts, and French villages and countryside.

Each mission stands on its own, so if you want to come back to this game for a quick battle or two, you can easily jump into whichever mission you want to. There are no long, unskippable cutscenes that make replay a chore.

Cons:
The characters are not memorable at all (expect Price, with his mustache, and MacGregor, with his Scottish accent), and those that do stick around are one-dimensional. There is no character development.

But you’re not really here for a plot or story. You’re here to take part in epic WWII battles, and CoD2 does that spectacularly.

Hey BRO, you like CoD!? YEAH!? You love the multiplayer action?! Well this is all about that singleplayer action and the story you unfold. The action here is amazing and kind of holds up over the years. You'll over take Nazi forces and take back allied lands through a variety of scenarios, with a variety of weapons and a variety of landscapes to admire.

Gameplay may last 6-10 hours, but some of the moments in that time will stick with you for a life time!

Back in 2007, where the 64-player servers were filled and lots of zombie, strafejumping, glitching and deathmatch servers.
Great times..

I've owned this game since it came out originally and it is still my favorite CoD game. The campaign is excellent and the multiplayer is all about skill and not about killstreaks and gun attachments. Anyone who hasn't played any of the CoD games before CoD4 really missed out on some of my favorite WW2 shooter titles ever. Overall, 9/10

Litterally the greatest game ever invented. GabeN tries to create games this good, but fails to do so and keeps scraping his ideas. Thats why HL3 isn't going to come out, he can't make it as good as CoD2

Couldn't decide what campaign was better
The russian campaign was incredible, the fighting in the streets, your comrads
fighting alongside you, it was amazing.
The british campaign had amazing story, fighting alongside captain price and private
macgregor, getting stuck in ♥♥♥♥♥♥ situations with both of them like "armored car escape"
Rushing the nazis in a tank alongside other crusader tanks
The american campaign had exhilerating cinema and dialogue, like when you run off
the carrier and it explodes behind you, leaving you on the ground watching men burning and
getting shot, and the part where Braeburn and Mcloskey leave the spare can of ammo on the road
"geez louise Mcloskey, how did you get to be company gunner? Shooting chickens in a barnyard?"
"you'd forget your own ♥♥♥ if it wasn't glued on!"

The AI over all was really good. you'd actually have to sit and fight with your fellow soldiers to kill the nazis,
no rush or you die. the amount of guns in the game was amazing, a wide variety of russian, american and british
guns, and historical accuracy. something the rest of the WWII Call Of Duties lacked.
The graphics were amazing for its time, they didn't over do it and gave it exactly the right kind of
ambient textures.

an incredibly enojyable game, from crawling through pipes to shooting down aircraft to scaling a cliff, call of duty 2 is the best WWII Call Of Duty of all time. Nothing beats it.

10/10 this game is worth every single penny.
