Extremely short (just one very big stage split up into 4 stages), keyboard controls can be very hard to get used to (used a controller later and it played better for me), and going from fullscreen to windowed mode is a pain in the fanny. Some nice concepts but they were executed poorly.

Nice graphics, decent music, but absolutely atrocious overall design.

We start with the game launching in fullscreen. Annoying with multiscreens, but fixable. Just gotta wait for the unskippable title screen animations. Switch the game to windowed, only to find there's no resolution settings. At all. So now the game's trying to display a 1080p window on the centre 1680x1050 screen, chopping off the confirmation button at the bottom of the screen. You know what happens when you can't see the bottom 62 pixels during gameplay? You get no lower HUD.

The game itself is a similar mess of poor design. You can "rotate" your ship to be side on, which doesn't appear to convey any benefit that I could see. Enemy behaviour changes very little if at all in response to anything you do. Level scrolling stops at various points while more ships fly on the screen, but there's no apparent reason why you've stopped "moving". Pacing is terrible and the difficulty curve is all over the place. A lot of the visuals seem to be done because they simply look cool, at the detriment to gameplay. Level design is amateurish. Enemy variety is poor.

Default controls were Z=up, S=down, Q=left, D=right. Yeah, figure that one out. So I set the controls for WASD and eventually found my hidden "Save and exit" button, then discovered that ingame I couldn't move down and left at the same time. No other game does this so it's not hardware key blocking.

This game held so much promise as a good old fashioned side-scrolling shooter with decent graphics, but it's let down by awful game design and execution.

This digital junk crashed, and after it did, my screen was sideways! Don't buy it unless you want to phisically rotate your monitor on the table to fix it!

This is like NES Silver Surf with some extra lives.
And it has few other cons:

1. Why do we have to keep tap the fire button? why can't it fire automaticlly or let us hold down fire botton down. There is no reason to stop fire. There is no turble button.
2. The hexgons at the background makes your eyes really tired. It gets better over the time but I rather have a black background
3. Lack of power ups and weapon selection. (Only one type of weapon)
4. Very very difficult, which is not a problem by itself, but you have this non-responsive keyboard control. If you press your direction button a little harder, you plane fly otherway into the wall and kills you.

Whenever I press play, the screen turns black. If this bug gets fixed I will play it.

Judging by the trailer, this game looks really awesome, however, I couldn't get it to start properly. The only time the game started, there was a huge black rectangle over the screen and it was impossible to enjoy it.

A lot of bugs :(

when i start the game i cant see the play, options and exit bubble...just a black box. same in game, giant black box right in the centre. will definitely play and recommend if this is fixed.

great work by the devs, graphics are awesome...gives retro a nice HD spin.

A cheap boring game, with nice graphics, a horrible menu system with annoying animations you have wait through to actually play the game, and despite the word rush in the title your ship moves slowly and you have to be careful with your shot accuracy. I suppose if you really enjoy these types of games you wouldn't mind spending so little on the game to try it out but don't expect anything revolutionary for the genre.

Large sections of the screen are covered by mysterious black rectangles. Truly the hallmark of a finished product.

Its worth the price its a different kinda SHMUP "shootem-up" but im so sick of people amking these SHMUPs that dont think out side the box. When Einhander for playstation came out and, was blown away, I thought after that we where going to have a hole bunch of great copy cats but nope, I know of only one other game that is trying to cope that after all this time and its on steam too but I cant remember the name ger.

Avoid.

I've been a shmup player for years, and this game is boring and derivative. The "feel" is all wrong, nothing moves with any aggression. The player's shot type is very strange and oddly small, making precision aiming a requirement. The combo system sucks because there are huge stretches of time where no enemies appear on screen; you're limited to chaining the very simple groups the trot out onto the screen mindlessly. Maybe it gets better, I couldn't tell, I can only play the game for a minute at a time before it freezes and I have to kill the runaway process from the Task Manager.

I have no idea what the sound design is like, because all I hear is static. The developer quickly blames this on codec packs and capture software, and the solution is "uninstall them". Apparently just to presence of these things is enough to cause issues. Maybe software conflicts made sense in the Win9x days, but there's absolutely no excuse for it today. The real issue is the audio subsystem he depends on.

Some users report the game boots to a blank screen. I didn't bother to read the thread on that.

The game hasn't been updated since it was published. Considering how the developer is handling feedback on the forums, I wouldn't expect any either. Syder Arcade is often on sale and is much more interesting than this, I'd recommend taking your money over there.

Controls in a SHMUP literally mean the difference between grazing a bullet or dying. Poor maneuverability and terrible control utimately lead to a frustrating experience.

This is a great little game. I admit I was disappointed at first to see no mouse compatibility in-game, it's played entirely with keyboard. Just a preference of mine I always hope to see, but I shouldn't be surprised there isn't one here.
I only encountered one small bug with the in-game pause menu but this may only be an issue for me.

There is a huge lack of options under the settings with just fullscreen on/off, difficulty, key bindings and one other which I don't know what it is. This doesn't bother me at all, but is something others might want to take into account.
There is no customization for your ship whatsoever that I can see. Powerups are temporary and primarily obtained by destroying enemies, otherwise there is no weapon or ship upgrades. You can flip your ship around for slower, more accurate attacks and dodging. The dodging seems forced in some areas however to get you to actually use your ship on it's side, because it's very easy to just leave your ship flat and spam the two, faster guns.
Also I didn't seem to notice a scoreboard, though I did notice something about my score being uploaded. I'm not sure if there's a place online to view leaderboards; it would be nice as that is the game's point.

I'm giving this a thumbs up, why? Because for it's price this game is an amazing grab. The controls are responsive, the game is pleasing to look at; the hit-boxes are forgiving, maybe too forgiving for your enemies, but that can just add to the challenge. So there's only one level? So this is only $2.00 and I think a lot of work went into this for that price despite what it lacks. I'm enjoying this game for what it is, who isn't going to give a game a thumbs up if they're enjoying it?
