About This Software

Make your own manga with ComiPo!
The next gen manga software!

ComiPo! is a revolutionary new software application that allows anyone to make high quality comics and manga. Users can easily create their own unique stories and situations simply by choosing and posing one of the 3D characters included with ComiPo! The program also offers over 100 unique body poses and facial expressions to choose from, along with many background images, items, sound effects, word balloons... Everything needed to make a visually impressive and professional looking comic come to life.

Posing 3D Characters
Drag and drop a character from the "3D character" menu! Select a pose and face from the templates. There are over 100 poses and faces to choose from! They are categorized by the character's emotions, so it's simple to choose the right expression for any situation!

Changing Camera Angles
The character model is 3D data, so you can pose the character from any angle just by dragging the red circle.

Background Images
You can import data, such as a picture you took with a camera, and then use it as a background image.

You can choose from many different kinds of word balloons and thought balloons.

Comic Marks & Sound Effects
Additionally, you can use icons called Comic Marks. You can show the character's feelings by adding Comic Marks and Sound Effects. There are many Sound Effects in the assets menu. Various Japanese Sound Effects are available too!

Effect Lines
Drag & drop an Effect Line from the assets menu. You can make a dynamic panel instantly! Effect Lines can be used as balloons to make it look like a monologue is taking place.

Character Customization
You can create your own original character easily by selecting items such as hairstyle, clothing, eye color and accessories. Customize your own unique characters and add them to your manga!

While I'm not the type that judges software after only a few minutes using it, ComiPo is simple enough that you can try every features it has to offer in that limited time for a quick review. A lot of people already gives accurate opinions about Comipo, so I'll keep mine short

This software is good for quick comic-making, be it for Facebook, community forum or your blog/website that just needs a bit more "picture talk" - it's perfect to transform daily joke or something you came up on-the-fly to a few manga panels so everyone can enjoy it without having to read through a wall of text. Literally EVERYTHING in Comipo is drag 'n drop and most of the time you are just moving things around, rotate them to fit together, throw in a few speech bubbles and maybe some expression/comic effect - simple as that.

Now for the bad thing - lack of customization is obvious. Even though you are given 3D models with a bunch of preset pose, you are unable to modify them further and just gotta use whatever the devs gave you. I know this is to simplify editing process, but it would be nicer to have an Advanced option so you can custom-pose 3D models (Maybe also within some limitation set by devs to make thing more logical). On the same subject, texture editing is also very limited - even a simple color change to character clothing is not possible at all, so if you really like a clothing set but its color is not your taste, you have no choice but to post-edit it after exporting image from Comipo. Finally, I don't understand why there's no skin color option - you can't make black/yellow skinned characters within Comipo, which is quite stupid. Just a minor complain though, but you can only add 32 pages per CPD file, so good luck managing your comic if you have tons of pages.

While Comipo is mod-friendly to a degree and there are some very nice-made stuff out there, it's still not enough for you to make anything better than 4-koma manga - likewise, new updates just seem to add more useless stuff rather than what we truly need (though, maybe it's too hard for the devs to come up with the moment so we can only wait). The DLCs didn't help much either, as they don't offer much more than a few preset outfit and objects/backgrounds to come with. What I think is the worst is that character pose are not getting updated fast enough (not even DLCs), forcing you to just play around with the old one for a LONG time (And how many do we have, like 200+ which half are only usable on certain angel?). At least the devs are still being active on Steam forum, but whether or not our idea/suggestion can make it to Comipo is up to them. Me personally, I'd agree that a basic puppet tool would be MUCH nicer than those preset pose, and the ability to change skin/clothing colors is pretty much a must if Compio wanna get more customers.

Overall I'd give this software 8/10 - it suits well for me in assisting comic work, and I feel like I can play around with it for story-telling when I'm not up to making an entire Photoshop CS page. Although it might not worth the full price in some way, but feel free to pick it up on a sale.

#UPDATE: After a few patches bringing Comipo closer to its JP version, the tool is getting a lot more features, but still lack a few critical one to make it more functional. Only one new DLC added since I wrote this review and that's a shame because not only the devs won't give us customize freedom, they also don't care much on offering us paid/free content. This is what I seriously hate about JP/KR software/games, but well, that's how the world works.

#KNOWN ISSUE: I've been running into this strange issue recently - don't know if it's because I installed too many custom contents that my x86 system can't handle or just because my VGA card is getting old (It's a GT 620 with only 1 GB memory). When exporting image, there is a chance that the process will fail and you will receive an error messenger - during that time, your VGA driver STOPS working and sometimes it can recover (so you can see the messenger) sometimes it cannot, forcing a hard reset. Lately I tried to close everything in the background and just use Comipo, and hasn't seen this error, so maybe it's just me. If you guys plan to use Comipo on not-so-powerful rig, especially x86 like me, be warned that Comipo may demand significant resource to run flawlessly (and with custom contents too).

Great buy, especially when it's on sale!

I've never used anything like this before, but it's been lots of fun so far. Easy to get into and it looks like there're a lot of community additions as well.

If you like watching anime/reading manga, this is a nice way to get a hands on feel for the stuff we enjoy so much.
