Driven by madness, the commander of the invading forces silently plots to tear the moon from the heavens and hurl it down upon the land. The people of the realm soon learn of this foul scheme, and join their hands in prayer in an eleventh-hour attempt to entreat the aid of the gods, only to see their endeavors fail. From within the moon emerges Bahamut, an ancient terror seething with rage fueled by countless generations of imprisonment. Sensing the tug of Fate, a powerful magus channels the last of his strength to send Eorzea’s heroes into a temporal rift. Incredibly polished and well endowed MMO. Almost every setting is tweakable and supports controllers as well, you get a game that offers you everything you payed for and witholds none of it. My only gripe would be the subscription but in this day and age I much prefer this than a mutilated F2P game with a cash shop or gated content. It also uphold the name of Final Fantasy up in good faith, probably a lot better than the newer single-player FF games. The combat is a good mix of old and new, you've got a wealth of content to discover and quests that reward you well dungeons from level 15 and up and lots of end-game content. Pretty soon there's going to be an expansion and new classes so there's much more to look forward to as the game ages. The developer has done a great job at supporting the game thus far and I've seen no signs of them slowing down. A worthy purchase!

Very social, casual and hardcore elements, with fantastic weapon, armor, monster, and character models round the block. Interesting stories and quest lines, hilarious cut scenes, and a very nice community (my server is Tonberry, the 'unofficial' english speaking Japanese server). Diverse and beautiful landscapes, very detailed character customization, tons of content, lovely animations and particle effects.
End game content is fun, whether it be raids, dungeons, or just hanging out with your friends at your free company house (with very in depth Sims like house customization, as well as owning your own room inside the house). Large variety of classes, be it craft, gather, or battle class. Fun and in depth skill system involving crossing skills from other classes to maximise your efficiency.
Very polished in all aspects, and very atmospheric.
All that and small expansion sized updates every three months all for free!
What more could you want?

There is plenty of fun to be had and nice people to meet. 392 hours as of writing this review and I've still never met a single gold seller.
At the very least, it's worth playing the trial, two weeks for free, and you can form your own opinion. :)
See you in Eorzea.

Finally, a casual-friendly MMORPG. I may or may not be paying $15 a month to craft underwear and stare at Lalafells.

I dont remember playing such a polished mmo since WoW vanilla! everything seems well thought out. There is plenty to do in this game thanks to the unique leveling, crafting and gathering system adding to that is fantastic endgame raids and dungeons which is updated often enough even for the most hardcore players! There are also extra content like housing and glamour which adds to the long list of things to do.

There are only a very few number of faults with this game. The worst being the newly added hunt system which has made life alot easier for new players. The problem with this is that the gear we've been working for weeks to get can now be aquired in a matter of hours!

Other small anoying problems including not being able to talk/take quests when on a mount and due to the unique way your companion(chocobo) works you wont be able to join a dungeon while fightning alongside it.

All in all the best mmo i've ever played!

I've been playing this game since its closed beta phase 2, which is about one and a half year ago now. I can recommend this to anyone who's ready to pay the monthly subscription fee.
In terms of entertainment<->money spent ratio, this game wins over many, many others in my library.

To get more into detail:
- very casual design, although it offers challenging endgame content as well
- many alternatives in terms of what to do, you're not bound to farm dungeons if you'd rather craft or gather items or do something else entirely
- wonderful music underlining the game and its scenes
- nice graphics, even on weaker machines
- crossplatform play (PS3/PS4/PC)
- regular new content
- many story-driven dialogs and cutscenes, entertaining for those who are interested
- easy-to-understand classes and gameplay but challenging to master
- pay-to-play but therefore not pay-to-win
- incredibly nice gamepad controls, beats keyboard and mouse even - trust me
- devoted developers, yes they actually listen to the community
- regular Q&A livestreams + new content showcasing called "Letters from the produce Live"

Please note that I own the steam version since its 1 year anniversary (that means I've been playing it for over a year before that already, so feel free to add many hundreds of hours of gameplay to my current value)

logged 571 hours over a couple of months at the time of writing this. Which doesn't seem like a lot but the way I play games (play for a few hours, stop, play, stop) it's a lot of time to dedicate to one game.
I haven't played an FF game I enjoyed since X. That is, until XIV came out. I've played a lot of MMOs including WoW and none of them held my interest for long. In FFXIV there are a lot of things to do and the community is the most enjoyable one I've encountered.

One of the things I enjoy the most is that you don't have to stick to one class. On my main I started off as a Lancer and instead of remaking and loosing all that time you can simply go pick up a new class (which gets upgraded to a job once you complete the level 30 quest). If you get sick of your character appearance you can use a potion that you get as part of the vetran rewards to change everything about them (or you can buy one). If you're just sick of their hair/makeup changing that is as simple as coughing up 2k gil for a makeover. (which is nothing at all later on, especially if you craft)
Speaking of crafting, that's a feature that held my interst for hours. It's rewarding, although often expensive. In addition to making weapons/armor/clothing for your character you can also make furniture if you have a house, which you can buy personally or by joining a guild called a Free Company that has one. The only gripe I have is super long DPS queue times but that's less the games fault so much as the fact that I play DPS mainly.

It will trash your life and suck up your time. 10/10.

An MMO which can be called "next-get"

Enjoyable gameplay, beautiful graphic and my favourite - controller support.
Combat system isn't compicated and whole gameplay don't requre much focus,
so you can lean back and grab yourself a beverage.

So let me start by saying I played this game on the ps3, and on the pc before it's launch on steam.

- I'll start this review by saying the original concept was horrible... the game lacked so much and needed a complete overhaul. Well SquareEnix listened to the fans and brought in some familiar faces to help make this new Realm.

So you create your character, the game has subscription, but it's definitely gorgeous and fun to play. The readded the summoner class which was my absolute favorite in Final Fantasy 11. You have a vast world to explore, to adventure in and the game is more suited for solo play along with parties. You can go do instances together, have a blast playing with friends or just even hanging around and chatting. Now there is some cons with this game.

I don't like the instances as much in this game as i did in Final Fantasy 11. I also liked the auction house more in 11. I noticed there isn't any dlc for this game or if there is i didn't come across any. So im wondering if they are just updating the game like GuildWars2.

So i will probably update this game more, but one of the biggest things i must mention is take advantage of the events they have. You get cool items and it's a very memorable experience.

One of the best MMOs I've ever played. Great story, combat Is engaging + there's a ton of varity in terms of enemies, zones and music. Later dungeons can get quite challenging + there's tons of small things todo to keep you occupied(Sightseeing log, hunting log, grand company logs, weekly challenges). There's too many things to name. Try out the free trial and check It out yourself.

God damn amazing, it's like one long beautiful dream you don't want to wake up from. Not since FFVII has there been one more deserving of the name Final Fantasy. And if your PC can crank it up to max settings it's hand's down the best looking MMORPG out there 10/10

I can really recommend this game as MMO, its constantly getting heavy lifting updates with tons of game changing feutures. I usually try new mmo`s then get the ... Meh feeling of it after some time, then i play on alts... with this game i have tracked 900 hours on raptr and 91 here on my paladin tank, still i know tons of stuff to do for getting him more pimped.

Dungeons - feels live and rich of details

Housing - from creating walls to decorate, or make gardens or chokobo "mount" farm on it :).

Primals - Big boss battles Normal mode - Hard Mode and Extreme Mode , AWSOME matches.

Story - Rich story ! ohhh god its so damn good and minfilia is a candy i could eat :D.

Raid - the laugh we had on the raids here is extreme , its well balanced and not much room for failure.. but the good rewards, and if team goes down still there may be a slim SLIM hope 0.00001 that it can be done.

PVP - Its arena style if you guys tried it in World Of Warcraft this is simular. tons of weapons and chests to upgrade.

Guild PVP - Not yet tried :(

Housing: - WAY to expensive

Primals - Extreme mode are maybe to extreme? :D

FFXIV is a pretty fun game, however it's pretty much the polar opposite of FFXI.

While the setting is good, it doesn't feel nearly as big and alive as Vana'Diel was. Square Enix reused a bunch of monsters from XI in FFXIV as well.

Leveling in the game is mostly doing quests and dungeons, as opposed to doing exp parties like the majority of the time I played FFXI. Many people like it, I still don't know if I miss exp parties but the leveling progression in this game is a lot less annoying.

The sense of working hard and progressing towards a goal also doesn't seem to be very strong in FFXIV either. The game's endgame has a strong focus on raids and I heard the devs try to focus on people getting better and better gear every update.

Also, the game has a sub fee which is one of the best parts of the game still. No pay2win or annoying children flooding the game like every other f2p game out there.

The game is still very fun with friends and has a good number of references to XI which made it worth the $12.50. If you want to play for free like I do, read up on how to get free amazon gift cards and turn those in for the 60 day time card they sell on amazon dot com.

Just don't play with goons or people from the general on ♥♥♥♥♥.
