I first played this game back in... 2006 or 2007, and it is still an absolutely awesome game! In terms of overall quality it is by far one of the best small-team Indie games. And yes, there's replay value! The story isn't really worth talking about much but it's about the loadout, becoming more and more powerful (with more flamboyant particle effects as you progress).
And I'm gonna call it... Yes I'm gonna call it...
I'm calling it!
GONNA DO IT!
This game has one of the top 3 best soundtracks in an Indie game, ever!
+Variety and visuals. This game is full of interesting eye-candy, ranging from particle effects to distinctive and creative ship and world designs! The pre-rendered 3D visuals are awesome, if a bit low resolution now.
+Soundtrack: It's huge, each track is distinctive, and you can find it freely.
+Performance: This game will run on almost ANYTHING. For the record, I played this game mostly an on iBook Clamshell laptop from 2001 using an ATI Rage 128. Perfect for having on a laptop and playing on the go.
-Difficulty curve: Starts out extremely difficult. Will get extremely easy in subsequent playthroughs.
-Resolution: It has aged better in some ways than others, and it is in dire need of an HD remake or sequel. This will show if you play it on a monitor bigger than 17".
-No editors whatsoever.
-Could use some kind of touch screen support for tablets.
Verdict: Get it! Its low price is very worth it.
It is also on sale from time to time and also makes appearances in various bundles as well.
