Presentation

This brilliant little 2D space shooter immediately hooks you with its fantastic heavy metal soundtrack by Machinae Supremacy.

Have a listen!

You can find the entirey soundtrack in .ogg format in the game's install folder (usually 'C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\SteamApps\common\JnG Gold\MUSIC' - may be different if you've chosen a different file path for Steam during Steam's installation or if you've chosen a different install path for this game).

Speaking of metal, the amount of carnage and destruction you are able to unleash in this game is unlike anything I've ever seen. This title is worthy of its pounding, energetic soundtrack.

Visuals may be low-res and 2D, but effects still look great and the amount of things going on at the same time on the screen is very impressive. Needless to say, this game runs on almost any machine made within the last fifteen years.

Gameplay

Jets'n'Guns is a very challenging game (even on easy), but thanks to the upgrade system being remarkably flexible and allowing for many different play styles, you can overcome its sometimes punishingly hard levels - you can just sell any item, weapon or upgrade without being financially punished and experiment with a new configuration. Incredibly tight controls, no matter if you're using keyboard, mouse, gamepad or joystick, also alleviate some of the difficulty. Level and enemy design are more creative and varied than anything you've ever seen (except for somewhat disappointing boss fights) and everything is neatly tied together by a completely insane story (but in a good way - the ending alone is ingenious).

Conclusion

Jets'n'Guns is cheap, 100% bad ♥♥♥, yet intelligent, has plenty of replay value and will forever be one of my favorite games.

Luckily there are difficulty levels for this SHMUP, as I am not as good at this type of game anymore! You can choose your guns to upgrade, and switch ships. I decided to pilot a hotdog ship because they clearly have the best capabilites from the start. (hotdog ship can have missiles!)

The resolution options for this game aren't that great, but the graphics still look good. The sound is really nice, like old arcade games.

There is a tetris minigame like Nintendo's gameboy tetris. [haven't gotten anything from it so far]

I enjoy how I can choose to equip and upgrade a weapon that has automatic targetting to compensate for my diminished player skill at these type of games! I will be upgrading those homing missiles to the max! The style of this game looks decent even though the graphics are not really great on a modern 1080p display. The customization of the ships and weapons is super fun.

man this game is BASED - I wish guys from czechia would take care about Jets n Guns more than some lmao rpg indie games.

Nevertheless, if you're in mood to listen to some great music (MaSu kills it) and murder some ships while dodging storms of bullets, this game is a must have

Very nice soundtrack, probably worth full price just for that. "Koala In The Spider's Web" might be my favorite track, it's either that or "Flight of the Toyota"

The game is a fairly fun sidescrolling shoot-'em-up/SHMUP, with explosions, rubber duckies, blood (I think this can be turned off in a preference menu), and beer. It gets a little dull if/when you get stuck, since you wind up repeating the same section over and over again, but that might just be happening because I haven't been trying to maximize my income. The game's solid, just slightly on the difficult side for what I expected from a side-scrolling arcade-esque game like this.

This is easily one of the best side scrolling shooters I have ever played. There is a ton of levels, a ton of weapons, a good handful of ships and upgrades EVERYWHERE! Kill everything you can to earn money and use it to upgrade your ship and weapons to become more and more powerful.

24.3 hrs on steam + 50+ hrs before steam / 10

On sale or not, this game will give you value, the soundtrack alone is worth the price of the game any day. Actually, the only thing is game needs, is a sequel or reboot.

I remember playing this game years ago as a child, so finding it on steam was a pleasant surprise. Great graphic style and music still hold up to this day, although some things are a tad dated (I'm looking at you, resolution).

The game has a fairly steep learning curve, with 3 starting difficulties (I went with hard and the first few levels were brutal until I got the hang of the game). Shooting down ships earns the player precious credits, so depending on how OCD the player is, this may lead to an easy or difficult late game, although I think the game generally tends towards being slightly easier (especially leading up to the brutal last boss fight); if you're really stuck the game also lets you cheat fairly easily for the price of being branded a cheat and presumably disabling steam achievements.

For most of my hard mode playthrough, difficulty rose at an appropriate level to keep me challenged without being unfairly difficult, although some weapons are noticably better/worse than their counterparts. You could take this as a positive or negative thing depending on your outlook; most weapons have a clear use for at least one difficulty setting/level and beyond that player can intentionally downgrade to flashier (and weaker) gun as a handicap or the cool factor.

It can be difficult to see enemy projectiles at times, but this is only really an issue when the player has lots of flashy weapons shooting at the same time, which I only really found a problem on the second playthrough, at which point you're pretty much invincible anyway.

For me, the game only stopped being enjoyable when it became too easy and I had time to be bored; this really only happened in my second playthrough where I cleared the hard waves instantly and then had nothing to do or dodge until the next wave spawned. For this reason I'd suggest trying the game on at least normal or hard difficulty for maximum enjoyment and replay value.

Overall I'd recommend this game if you're seeking a fun shooter that doesn't take itself too seriously and (mostly) challenges you in a fair way.

Jets'n'Guns is one of those games that not many Shoot-em-ups have to this day. This game is truly unique in its own way. A heat meter to keep players from shooting way too much. Good level design. And the music was composed by Swedish band Machinae Supremacy. They truly did an amazing job on this game. Each time you beat the game the difficulty goes up. Keeping the game from being too easy. Would I recommend this game? Absolutely. Ranging from stealing a ship from the heavily guarded F-eX labs to stealing a beer tank. This game is legendary. 10/10

This game isn't challenging; it's punishing, and it has horrible balance problems. The soundtrack is pretty meh (like the rest of the game, it's trying waaaay too hard to be "hardcore"), and the scenarios rely on horribly tired tropes--it's a game full of over-the-top, blatantly misogynistic machismo.

That being said, it has a lot of customization options that are interesting, and I realize that a lot of [masochists] are LOOKING for "punishing" when they are playing a schmup like this. And you will probably like this game if you drink muscle milk and hate women.

This game is gawddamned awesome!

Inspired by legendary SHMUPs (read: Tyrian), Jets'n'Guns is an explosive action horizontally scrolling destroy'em'up with a splendid soundtrack by Machinae Supremacy.

It's based around Tyrian-like structure of progression, where you complete levels and upgrade your ship between them, with an option to pick up extra upgrades (and secret stuff!) during the levels. There's also an occasional boss you'll have to fight, as well as several unique levels where you zip around in your spacesuit instead of being in your ship. Also like in Tyrian and Raptor, you have a rather ample supply of armor (and repair options), so it's quite a bit more comfortable to play than the Japanese-type 1-hit-and-you-dead shoot'em-ups.

The story is wacky and rather nonsensical, as are the weapon, level and enemy designs (there's a gun that literally shoots Superman clones, you pick up secret duckies along the way, and there's the borg-like alien race which is literally beer) and the game doesn't really take itself very seriously, but it creates a strangely interesting atmosphere which I really liked.

It's hard as nails, too! Don't expect any hand-holding, and expect to die and restart levels- or even the entire game, because you CAN screw up your ship build and it WILL turn out to be impossible to complete later levels if you don't know what you're doing. I recommend playing on a lower difficulty level to begin with and get familiar with the game mechanics (which boil down to "kill as many things as you can because you really need all the money you can get").

I'm really glad this game found its way on Steam- it has my full recommendation!

Jets'n'Guns is a Shoot Em Up, also called a 2D sidescrolling space shooter. I have spent at least 200 hours playing this game by myself/ when I was younger and I instantly bought this game on steam.

There's an insane number of weapons to buy, you can level them up, you can purchase upgrades for your ship, pick a combination of weapons you like depending on your playstyle. There's also a good selection of bombs and missiles.

The music is amazing ( 30+ soundtracks from Machinae Supremacy, an amazing Sid Metal band, ) the replayability is good, they added achievements, trading cards, some tweaks and it works on 1920x1080 resolution. I recommend buying this game in a heartbeat if you liked any kind of space shooters because it's always been my favorite one and you will definately like it.

After playing for an hour or so, I can tell it's just as good as I remember it, but, I also used to play on easy and I just tried hard, way too hard for me, normal offers me a fair challenge and the game is very enjoyable. :)

Ahh, the best damn side-scroller shump I've ever played.

Tons of levels, tons of weapons, awesome soundtrack and just plain fun! Almost every level you beat will unlock another gun, missile or bomb to try out! All the weapons can be upgraded to do more damage, have a larger spread and just look more awesome! There are space missions, missions where bombs are a must to clear out land enemies, missions where you fly in a jetpack with 2 giant guns strapped to it... lol

There are secret ships, levels and weapons to find too!

A lot of the ships have different powerups they can get and weapon slots... for example one ship might have 3 forward weapon slots and a bomb slot whereas another ship might have 2 forward slots, one rear slot and missile AND bomb slot. All ships have different hull integrity, heat sink and agility so that further sets them a part! Gotta choose the right ship for the mission!

Man, its freakin awesome so don't let the older graphics turn you away! Its a glorious high-action explosive game!

I originally played Jets'n'Guns years ago, and had an absolute blast. However I never actually paid for the game.

Finally, years later it is released on Steam and it's just as awesome as when it originally came out.

Jets 'n' Guns is a fantastic space side scrolling shooter, with heaps of equipment to buy and loads of upgrades. The soundtrack is absolutely fantastic and very fitting.

My favorite part about J'n'G is being able to try countless configurations on the ships to see which combination will help me finally finish my current level. When you buy an item you can always sell it back for the buying value, so you are never restricted to what combinations you want to attempt.

This is an intense retro shooter with a crazy amount of replayability, don't miss this one out!

YEEEEESSSSSSSSSS! One of the best shmups of all time is now on Steam? YES. The one where you can customize and upgrade your ship? YES. What, it's only $7.00, and it's on sale for $3.50? YES. It has cards too? YES. Instant buy.

Seriously, if you've never played Jets'n'Guns yet, do yourself a favor and buy it. It's loads of fun, cheap, and challenging to boot. I've actually dumped many hours into this game dispite my recorded playing time on Steam. I plan to spend many more now that it's here.

So much fun, a challenging game with a huge arsenal to choose from at your own will, amusing humour and an amazing soundtrack by Machinae Supremacy (that's included as separate files for free!) for just a few bucks? This is a robbery. For the developers.

It's not just a good sidescrolling shooter. This game does its job, with a blast.
Don't get fooled by the cheesy looking graphics, as the game was released for quite some time before it even reached Steam. They get the job done and JnG looks pleasant enough for an old 2d shooter.

THis is one of my favorite shoters of all time. The bent sense of humor, custom options for your ships, attention to detail, and absurd levels and hardness keep me coming back. I played this *years** ago, and picked it *again* up on Steam and can't stop playing. Jet and Guns is a must-have masterpiece for anyone who loves SCHMUPS

There is so much to dig into in this game. So many sevcrets and weapons to try out. It's lovely.
