About This Game

One fine day, Eryi went to eat the melon that she had been SO looking forward to... but it was nowhere to be found! Then she noticed a note on the table. She picked it up and read: "Your melon looked delicious, so I took it. From Farta X"

Eryi's Action is a 2D ‘trapformer’ by developer Xtal Sword that is visually inspired by Super Mario, but has gameplay akin to games like I Wanna Be the Guy. Don’t be fooled by its adorably charming looks – this game abounds in traps and wants you to die! However, where IWBTG was murderously difficult, Eryi's Action is additively challenging and FUN!
Trap placement is often laugh-out-loud funny and seriously engaging. Some traps simply need to be learned to avoided, but others are puzzles that will require your skill and wits to beat. Either way, Eryi’s action delivers laughs, frustrating and satisfaction & all for just $4.99!

Features:
  • 12 action-packed stages & boss fights!
  • Adorably charming world & characters!
  • Fiendishly cunning traps!
  • It’s okay to fail! Autosave has your back!
  • FUN! You'll die a lot, but you WILL go back for more!
  • 32 achievements!

A hilarious "troll platformer", from the developer of Syobon Action (a freeware game sometimes known as "Cat Mario" on the internet), featuring the same type of gameplay. This game plays out like slapstick comedy in videogame form.

The stages all feature various amusing traps that play with your expectations. There are even bonus traps that you have to go out of your way to find -- they will humiliate you in even more creative, amusing, and memorable ways.

The game's not just silly traps, though. The end of each stage usually features some sort of stage end trap, that you need to defuse or circumvent before being able to finish the stage properly. These become little puzzles -- not too hard to figure out once you realize they're supposed to be puzzles, though.

Boss stages are all rather unique, and may involve more puzzle-solving and also some unexpected genre changes.

You're given an unlimited number of tries to complete the game, though. You start with two lives, and you will probably end up with negative several hundred when you finish the first time.

Unlockables include a playable bonus stage, as well as an extra mode where you have to complete the game with limited lives -- and some changes to the stages, too!

Pros:
+ IWBTG-ish "platforming hell"
+ Cute graphics, nice music
+ Good controls

Cons:
- Some traps are way too ridiculous
- The game itself is not very memorable

Let's start with the most obvious part: this game is hard. And I mean RIDICULOUSLY hard. I'm on level 4 and I already have - (minus) 170 lives. So yeah, losing 20-50 or more lives per level is ok here. This is just like IWBTG or some other "platforming hell" games. Insane difficulty is the main focus of "Eryi's Action" and basically that's all what it is about. Once you figure all the traps on level and find out how to avoid them - consider the job 70% done.
Aside from that there's not much to say. Graphics are cute, music and sound are okay, the controls are good. Overall the game is fine, if you played and liked IWBTG I can even recommend you to give "Eryi's Action" a try. Grab it at sales.
