O tej grze

While seeking life on a distant planet, an astronaut discovers an abandoned Russian town. He suspects his mission is a hoax until a mysterious young woman saves him from a strange and deadly phenomenon... Lifeless Planet is a third-person action-adventure that features an old-school sci-fi story and spectacular environments in the spirit of classic action-adventures.

After a hard landing on the planet, the astronaut discovers the planet that was reported to be rich with life is instead a barren wasteland. When he goes searching for his crew, he makes a more startling discovery: evidence that humans have already been to this planet years ago! When he comes upon a deserted Soviet-era Russian town, he struggles to make sense of his mission. Did his light-speed travel to the planet send him back in time? Or is this all some strange Cold War hoax?

Along the way, the astronaut meets a Russian woman, Aelita, who is somehow able to survive the hostile atmosphere of the planet. Through an unusual natural phenomenon, her skin causes the soil to glow green under her feet. The player must use these glowing tracks as a guide across the planet past treacherous and deadly threats. Is she leading him to safety... or an untimely death?

Lifeless Planet was inspired by Cold War era science fiction stories, posing questions about humankind's desire for space travel. What if you journeyed across the galaxy to another planet, only to find humans had already been there? What kind of person would sign up for a one-way mission, leaving behind planet Earth and everyone they've ever known and love... to go in search of an Earth-like planet?

Equipped with a limited-use jet-pack and a mobile robotic arm, the player must use wits and skill to solve puzzles, unravel the mystery, and survive the Lifeless Planet!

Lifeless Planet is a nice, little puzzle-exploration game.

An astronaut crew crash-lands on a distant planet, you awake alone and try to find your crew and quickly start realizing, that this planet isn't what you thought it would be.
Promised to contain life or at least good living conditions, you find yourself in a desert-like wasteland and soon discover, that you weren't the first to be on this planet.

The game is mostly about exploring the different locations, some platform jumping, solving some rather easy puzzles and collect log-entries, which will unveil the story to you.

The mysterious atmosphere of the planet is pretty well done and the story itself is presented in a way, which kept me interested and wanting to know what was going on.

Be aware that the game itself is rather slow and pretty linear, although the areas are sometimes quite big (but mostly empty).
The last third of the game feels a bit stretched and although you had some highlights, it could have been a bit shorter at the end, which would also be another point to watch out for: the game itself is rather short.

If you like slower paced exploration games, mysterious sci-fi/fantasy stories then this might be a nice little game for you.
Personally i would wait for a sale to buy.

One of the tags on the store page for Lifeless Planet is "Walking Simulator". Now I don't enjoy walking simulators and I'm unsure if this is one or not. It does involve quite a bit of walking, but also a generous amount of jumping, jet-packing and puzzle-solving. I'd say it is as much a 3D platformer as a walking simulator.

I found the jet-packing segments to be the most fun. Our hero doesn't always have access to the full abilities of his jet-pack due to a lack of fuel. The fuel is storyboarded to run out at certain sections of the game, it's not some resource that you can carefully manage to make other parts of the game easier. It's designed so you can jump higher and further on the platform-type parts of the game and afterwards it becomes depleted.

The puzzle difficulty isn't too perplexing. The couple of puzzles that had me stuck meant that I just needed to explore the area a bit further until I found an item or a switch that created part of the solution.

Due to the game not having a great difficulty level it's a fairly relaxing affair, I found myself playing the game last thing at night to unwind a little. There's a great atmosphere in the game backed up with some really nice ambient sound effects that demand the volume be dialled up a notch or two.

The graphics are pretty nice looking with the exception that a lot of the textures for the surroundings are fairly low-res. This becomes apparent when the camera is close up to them, from afar the world looks quite impressive. The hero is really nicely detailed, especially the reflection from the visor on his space helmet.

It took me about seven hours to complete the game at a leisurely pace. I found myself picking it up and playing it for about an hour at a time. The game holds a couple of achievements that increase the replayabity somewhat. One is to complete the game under four hours and the other is to complete the game without dying. I'll probably attempt these soon. I'm not sure how I will fair!

Lifeless Planet is a puzzle-platformer that is intent on setting you on a journey through a vast, unexplored planet that was once a lush paradise. Your objective, as a lone surviving astronaut that spent 15 years journeying to the now desolate heavenly body, is to discover what caused the mass extinction of life. You will discover this information not only through story progression, but also through collecting and reading documents along the way.

The game itself uses the Unity engine, so it should be unsurprising when I say that Lifeless Planet suffers from random frame drops in random areas. Aside from this minor technical issue, the only other complaint about the performance of the game is the loose controls when using the jet pack while jumping. You can overshoot or undershoot your target very easily, and trying to turn around when you overshoot your mark is nearly impossible. Sometimes the jumps are committed to the direction that you initially jump in, and other times they are not; it's a very touch-and-go mechanic that causes some platforming sections to be frustrating.

The story line itself is decent, although it's not entirely what I personally expected when I researched the store page and trailers. Given that the name of the game is indeed Lifeless Planet, it's a surprise when you find out that you are not exactly alone. I find that this detracts from the mystery and eeriness of the game itself. Being alone on a foreign planet that is completely devoid of life is a frightening thought, but without the additional party that you encounter on the adventure, the ending would not be possible.

When it comes to the musical score, Lifeless Planet does well. There are a large variety of tracks and subtle ambiances that play during well timed moments, either spiking the fear and anxiety of the player, or soothing them on their long odyssey. However, I did find that the music does abruptly end at some points, and I am unsure if this is due to an in-game trigger when hitting certain areas or just a typical Unity malfunction.

Lifeless Planet can be easily beaten in under four hours, even during the first play through. The puzzles are easy, it's rare that you will not know where to go next, and there is little replayability aside from achievement collecting. That being said, I find the asking price of $21.99 CAD to be very steep for this title that most people will only play through once. On sale, or in a bundle, I can recommend Lifeless Planet. It's a decent little game with an alright story line, just don't go in expecting too much. The hype that surrounded this game when it was first released was over the top.

Rating: 3.5/5.0 - Average, can take it or leave it.

Do recommend with all ny heart, but to those, who enjoy listening to long monologues and explore an empty world only full of memories and diaries. Even though the story is not quite smooth and there is too much empty space to overcome while exploring, game is still beautiful as well as it's story.
