A really cool hack and slash game with a nice Anime style and a Suda51 plot (so surreal as ♥♥♥♥ XD). It was a really difficult game the beginning , that first damn boss battle hay! But after you can actually start upgrading your character it becomes a really fun game to play. Would recommend to ... well everyone , because you know, its Suda51! Everyone must play his trippy games ! GG 4/5!

Piece of advice , play the game on hard for the challenge AND prioritise getting the heal ability, and also don't be afraid to use the revives, with the money you get after every episode you can easily buy 10 revives if you used THAT much.

suda51 saw revengeance and thought he could do better. in a way, he succeeded, with the dodging ability being a little more rewarding than parrying in MGR, sub weapons are easier to use, and the QTEs are fewer but more fun to pull off. the boss:grunt ratio is a little high, annoying at first, but once you realize there are optional challenge missions, it feels ok.

it's a low-effort console port, though, so don't expect to play through the game with no crashes or fixes to the files. You can edit an ini to go 60fps, but that will result in more instability. as with all character action games, the camera sucks and a controller is almost necessary. the camera isn't as bad as DMC1, but it's still pretty bad.

i recommend it if you're a fan of character action or suda51. get it on discount (i got it in a humble bundle)

The game is really fun, if you know about Suda51 games then you know what youre in for. The feel for the game takes a while to soak in, but once you start unlocking more abilities the combos get really nice. The controls arent AMAZING but they feel responsive and are up to snuff to the point where it doesnt feel like youre being held back by them. The style of the game is really stylish. Works with Ultrawide Monitors as well. Beat the game just now and im going to wait a bit to come back but It's definitely very similar to the style of No more heroes.

A Beat-them-up game that has a very wackey yet interesting story that'll make you laugh here and there while attempting to keep you engaged. The combat gets a bit repetitive, although it's forgiven with the variety of enemies that appear in the game, who can be rather challenging unless you've aced dodging and blocking. Overall I recommend it and hope you'll have fun playing this creative game. ^^

Easily one of the craziest games I've ever played.

Stylistically superb, with excellent visuals and a fantastic (and varied) soundtrack to boot.

Quentin Tarantino taken to the Nth level.

Fun.

If you like SUDA51 games, it's another one! Weird story, fun artstyle, and grindable stuff to grind. Apparantly took me 10 hours to play through the story once. If you like fun Japanese stories, this one's for you!

If this game came out 2003 on the PS2 I might've held it in a higher regard. But between the nonsensical whimsy, buttonmash-y gameplay, and sluggish pacing that pulls you out of the action with every step, I can't recommend this game on any level. And something must've been lost in the translation from japanese because the dialogue can be so incoherently broken you begin to wonder if the beginning and end of certain sentences are written by the same person.
At least the art-style can some times be pretty interesting.

With a slightly bigger budget and a few more months in the planning stage, this game couldv'e been an even more over-the-top and ridiculous Devil May Cry. As it is, I don't know what you would have to do to enjoy it.

This game is like Takashi Miike, Tarantino, and Frank Miller had a baby.
And that baby had a dream.
And that dream took some peyote and rode through the desert on a unicorn for a few days. Surviving on nothing but cactus juice, sake, and smooth jazz.
And just as it started to come down some rat basterd jacked it up with methamphetamines, clamped jumper cables and a car battery to it's nipples and forced it to develop a video game.
Then the baby woke up slightly dazed and spoke it's first words...
"Killer is dead" is all it said.

Playing as an assassin named Mondo Zappa (a pretty metal name) you take on missions for a bald black man with half a robot face in which you......i really don't know, there's vampires, monsters, a 200ft giant with laser eyes, spiders with human faces on their backs, a demon train, a talking unicorn, aliens, spaceships, someone steals the planet Earth (??), you travel back and forth to a moon you can breath on without a spacesuit and use x-ray glasses to oggle women's boobs and lingerie then they have sex with you in exchange for a stick of gum.

I liked it.

SUDA51, the incredibly twisted and creative mind behind many other style-dripping action games (like No More Heroes, Shadows of the Damned and, my personal favorite, Lollipop Chainsaw) brings us yet another over-the-top gem; Killer is Dead.

The Pros:
· Just like previous games from SUDA51, we get a uniquely cliché character with a noteworthy weapon at his side. Juliet was the dumb blonde cheerleader who had her Chainsaw, Garcia Hotspur the rough tattooed badass had Johnson, and Mondo Zappa is the smooth talking ladiesman who just gets the job done and has his cybernetically modified left arm; Musselback.
· A simple yet satisfying combat system that gets deeper and more complex as you unlock upgrades and the story progresses.
· Over-the-top ridiculous story with a wide array of interresting characters you'll already knowa thing or two about due to the stereotypical standards.
· Special upgrades are aquired through playing gigolo minigames; you buy gifts at the store with money you earned by playing that can then be given to women who, in exchange for a little "tête-a-tête", will give you an upgrade of some sort. Before you can give her a gift, however, you have to build up enough confidence... by peeking at her t**s or legs. If she catches you staring, she'll slap you right the f**k out and leave you with blue balls. Put on your sunglasses to find out what kind of gifts she'd like, give her those gifts to fill the meter even faster, and get rewarded. It sounds silly and sexistic, and that's exactly what it is. Because SUDA51.
· Everything you love about SUDA51 and it's still not getting old!

The Cons:
· The story sort of throws you right in and doesn't explain itself too much. If you really want to know what's going on exactly (if you can handle that), you'll have to do some research outside of the game.
· The style of the game is sometimes a bit overwhelming. Scenes can get chaotically stylish and colors don't always come over the way they're supposed to.

The Visuals:
· Killer is Dead doesn't give you triple-A quality realism, but it clearly doesn't want to. Style just pours out of every single frame of Killer is Dead, giving it the unique SUDA51 feeling you'll want. SUDA51 once more annihilates the limits of style.

Final Verdict:
· If you're even remotely interrested in Killer is Dead (most likely because of its stylish visuals), don't doubt and pick it up. Killer is Dead gives you ridiculously stylish fun that few other games can live up to. 8,5/10.

Port seems good. Renders at 1080p, but is locked to 30fps by default. This can be changed in an ini file. Image guide for that here:

Game itself is great. This is a fun action game made by crazy japanese people who don't give any ♥♥♥♥♥ about feminism. Do not expect a coherant storyline. Expect to be regularly switching between being frightened, confused, and aroused.
