“This is an amazing game! I love the combination of a procedurally generated voxel world with intense action & RPG elements. The grappling hook and anti-gravity pack are a lot of fun and add an interesting dynamic to the game. I love exploring the seemingly infinite world to find new items and situations.”
10/10 – Swawa3D @ IndieDB

“Just want to say again that this is a great game! For those of you who feel like its a minecraft copy just beacuse of the cube textures used you really need to rethink what a game is about! The game play of 3079 is nothing like minecraft it is pretty unique as well as how the weapons all have diffrent stats and colors kind of reminds me of Borderlands. However it is still an original idea for a game and i still play it from time to time. You should at least try the demo and if you like it please buy it and support fruit! :D Still give it a 9/10 ! Best Regards, Adam”
9/10 – SeaNanners

“After playing this game all day, all i can think about is playing it more. It has an insane amount of replayability and the difficulty is random. Which is refreshing. Some enemies are difficult to kill and some are easy. The way the difficulty gets higher is based off the distance from where you start. Which is great.”
10/10 – Blackop2 @ IndieDB

This game can take some getting into but it is a fun game with alot to acualy do. There is a main quest, an unlimited amount of random side quest, you could build a base, do some pickpocketing, and there is lots of diffrent loot to find.

It is EXTREMELY hard. But it can actually be really cool. Recommended! It's really fun, although dying is about as often as inhaling...

Unplayable and noisy. There's no clear sense of purpose to this game unless you count becoming lost inside a building-- which is basically a maze-- trying to find an NPC that won't be helpful at all.
Then you fly into the air and get eaten by the demon thing that's making all the noise.

The game costs about as much as a beer, but you're better off drinking a beer.

3079 is a game i really have mixed feeling about, on one hand you have randomly generated open world areas, iwht a mix of minecraft and borderlands which just doesn't sit right, First off the look of the game is just awful i know it's only like $6 but damn it's pretty hard to get past the graphics. Then the server hosting is just god awful with hugh amounts of lag spikes and just random disconnects and most of the quests simply being just fetch quests is suffice to say to save your money and buy something else.

The year is 3079 - Rebel forces are raising against the peaceful nation. You play as a space police officer (or something) who crash lands on an uncharted planet due to entities called demons. Its kind of unbalanced and really REALLY short... Honestly by the time you learn how the building system works and make your own base to try and stay away from demons and make a flying dock you literally are close to beating the game. It is worth it but the game feels VERY outdated and low on building and missions. Its worth a try at least for its concept and honestly is way better then its sequel. I will say your going to feel a bit of melancholy playing this game due to the empty atmosphere so only play if you want a quick cool experience.

3079 is similar to a combination of Borderlands and Minecraft, as its a very open world, with a very 'blocky' look. I was attracted to this game due to the Steam Reviews, which seemed to indicate a very unique game, with lots of replayability and exploration. I have played this game for about 4-5 hours, not the 7 minutes reported, due to the game not reporting to the Steam Client as it opens up in a Java window....

Unfortunately, my experience has not been very good. Initially, the game would not run, and required 2-3 reinstallations from Steam to ensure it would open as expected. Once in the game, there is not a lot in the ways of a fluid or organic flow to the game. You sort of just walk around, hoping to figure out things as you go before you die. The monsters are not that exciting to look at, and the animations are very poor. I have attempted to play with a friend, and even then, the game was not any clearer.

I would describe this game as a cult-classic type favorite, where you either LOVE the game, or you HATE/DON'T UNDERSTAND the game. Unfortunately for the developer, I easily fall into the "Don't Understand", and "Don't Like" side. Since the game is cheap I find it hard to give a bad review, but this game unfortunately goes into my 'Pile of Shame'.

TLDR; not a great game, not well developed. very cult-like following, but was not able to enjoy.

Wanting to know more about the game, I checked out the Community forums. The top post is "NOT a ripoff of Minecraft."

The whole post is wasted on just the graphics. 3079 is a minecraft clone in that it moves, feels, and acts like Minecraft. Being a Minecraft clone is not a dirty word. In the 90s, if you were a FPS, you were a Doom-clone. If you were a 1vs1 fighter, you were a Street Fighter-clone. Tetris-clones were everywhere. But then there was Dr. Mario, and Tetris Attack, and the block-puzzle genre was born.

Now that we got that out of the way, let's review 3079. It's a big open world with a randomly generated properties. There's a lot of the same. Once you've seen one building, you've seen them all. You're exploring and doing quests that surrmount to basic fetch quests. This is a game where you get out there, and shoot stuff and watch your numbers get bigger. I spent the next few hours scratching my head, wondering, "What am I supposed to do?"

3079 is sparse. With a better tutorial and more interesting 'ah-ha moments', there could be something here. But not right now.

the devs claim that it uses a 'different and original block engine than minecraft' and I have to agree, except this one is counter intuitive and sucks.

I got this game with Indie Royale Alpha Bundle #1 (Along with Wyv & Keep and Towns) and I didn't swap it to Steam until yesterday - but this game is awesome. Anyone can pick it up and play and enjoy it somehow - rpg fans, sandbox fans, or shooter fans. However, some of the controls can take some time to get used to. For example, I am used to "E" being inventory in Minecraft, but also "E" being use in Valve games, and I couldn't bind them both to "E" or we would have a Zelda CD-I issue. So, I have to reach all the way over to "I" for inventory. This issue is minor though. 10/10

Before I get started with this review, I should probably mention that I never grew up with first-person RPGs (or Western RPGs for that matter) like most PC gamers did as I was more of a Japanese RPG person. Still, of the very few I had played, Deus Ex, Arx Fatalis and Oblivion always struck me as some of the best in the sub-genre.

3079 is exactly what it says on the tin, an action RPG. Many people may dismiss it at first as another competitor in the myriad of Minecraft clones that have been released so far, but in reality, the Minecraft aspect (crafting) of this one is nothing but a small slice of a much bigger cake, a cake with too much sugar.

The problem with 3079 you see, is that it's never clear on what you have to do. Sure, the game tells you to do as much side-quests as possible but that's about it, and even for some of them it's never quite clear where you have to perform them as if the game were expecting you to know the whole world map (and a randomly generated one at that) like the palm of your hand. The biggest gripe however comes down to the gameplay mechanics, as it doesn't provide the player with a manual or tutorial to learn and make proper use of them, and this game is literally filled with a ton of mechanics whose use is essential in order to properly progress through the game.

Due to these faults, I find it hard to appreciate 3079 no matter how many times I try to play it. Looking back, even Morrowind, a game I left behind in favor of Oblivion seemed much more accessible in the way it presented the player with its goals and mechanics than this game in particular.

I have a brother that tends to say that indie games are too pretentious for not being able too fulfill the ambitions they sought to achieve. In 3079's case, I find it too pretentious because it fullfilled its ambitions on a scope so large that the player can barely contain it.
