Reviews

“There’s a plenty of complexity within this game, so boredom should be out of the question.”
4/5 – software.informer

“I found Hero of the Kingdom to ultimately be something all its own – a cross between a hidden object game, an RPG, and a point-and-click adventure – and it wasn’t at all hard to lose hours lost in its curious little world of wonders.”
Gaming-way

“All in all, Hero of the Kingdom is a charming adventure game that is well-suited for those who want to relax and take part in an epic story without having to worry about scores or time limits.”
4.5/5 – Softpedia

When I saw the advertisement and comments for this game I thought it was something along the lines of a 4x JRPG kind of like Suikoden used to be. It is not, not even close.

This game is a hidden object finder game with resource management and no penalties other than some loose RNG results which aren't all that bad. I put some time into it, and I didn't bother to read any of the story or text, just clickity clack and all that.

It's fun. doesn't really have much replay value for me.

If you are looking for a classic RPG game, you will not like this one. It is mix of an old texture adventure game, economy simulator and resource management. It gets repetitive from time to time, but it also is very relaxing with no need to rush anything.
At the end of the day - I enjoyed it and it is the only thing that matters.

Calling it an RPG is overly generous, I think, false advertising even. There are no customization options, and the story can't be affected by anything you do. It's a resource management game like Kingdom Tales, or 12 Labours of Hercules. It's a great one, though. It's mindlessly simple. A click-happy game. I loved it. Not too short. Not boring (if you like these kinds of games, that is). I bought/played the original, and sequel, and they're equally great. Well worth the full purchase price.

Conclusion: This game isn't worth the 6 bucks they currently demand for it. I'd say it's well worth about 3 since you will enjoy it for 3 hours, if it's your cup of tea that is.

Since the conclusion is what y'all look for I simply put it on the top. If you wanna keep reading then proceed to further thoughts.

If you want a challenge, look elsewhere. This game is more of an interactive storytelling and it's a good one.
The story isn't anything new, just a from boy to man kindoff thing going on. It's also just a point and clicker game, if you want to pick up mushrooms, click em and you got em.
So you will not do anything strategybased, the game really walks you through the whole thing without room for failure.

All this might sound like it's just plain crap, that's far from the truth.
I'm gonna make a comparison to sandbox/survivalgames like minecraft here. One of the main reasons I don't care for such games is the timeconsuming thing about getting simple things done. This game does the opposite, though every quest in the game is a fetchquest of sorts. But I for one don't mind a fetchquest if it takes like 1 minute to complete and you're rewarded straight away with progression in the story.

The game will not last much longer than 3 hours so keep that in mind when you throw money at the screen.
Protip: Sleep in camps, you will thank me later! :)

I am not much a fan of point & click games, but this was really good. The story was decent, the gameplay fun. The playing tim is not very long (you can complete the game in less than a day), but if you can buy the game in discount it is worth it.

Very addictive game, even if all you have to do is click. The story and events are very entertaining so I wish it was even longer.

I finished the game in one sitting (3.8 hours) and got all the trophy available.

A point and Click find and build game with a Really good RPG story flow...

Above line is a bit complicated but this game is not complicated at all. You are a young lad that unwilling follow the flow of event of saving your father from bandit and eventually become the hero that saved your kingdom.

Very easy to control. Very easy to understand. Very short game play. (2-4 hours). You need a sharp eye to find all the items and complete all the task you can complete. Most of the achivements are really easy.. but i cannot find the last mushroom and last treasure crate.. even afte spending 1 hours after completion of the game. I cannot find them.. so I have gave up on those 2 achievements. Those achievement however can be gotten though offline game play but they will all be time coded at same time when you go on steam online.

Graphics are basic but beatifully done for indie development. 1-2 repeating played music with sound effect for each different task.. basic.. but effective and they are not bad to your ear.

8.0/10 would be my final rating and I recommend your guys to play it.

Hero of the Kingdom is something new for me... It is, technically a very simple adventure game with hidden object ideas, dressed up as RPG, with very cheesy fantasy RPG story.

You "walk" through different screens, finding hidden things and doing quests for which you usually just need to click on something, you earn money to buy stuff needed to complete other quests. There is neither luck nor skill involved, you just click through things in some order, uncovering a story in a nicely drawn world.

If you have a few hours of your time to kill, and you really don't want to use your brain at all; It is a nice little adventure game that looks nice and in the end, makes you feel nice... At least for finishing all the achievements... :)

6/10 Recommended, but not for everyone...

Relaxing Point & Click Adventure. I'm generally not into this kind of games, but i really liked it. The story is nice, the quests are diversified, and it is fun to hunt down all the achievements. After finishing the game, you really fell like the hero of the kingdom!

This is a fun little game if you just want to waste some time, or if you like hidden object and resource management games. It's got nice graphics for a small game, a decent storyline, and is playable for about 4-6 hours. It doesn't really have replayability though. If you go for all of the achievemnts, then trying to get the last eggs, crates, and mushrooms can be a bit annoying. I was able to get this on sale for $0.59, so it was very much worth my money, but I $6 is a bit much for it. Maybe more like $2 or $3. I think that it is a cute, relaxing game that I reccommmend, along with its sequel.

Currently on big sale, this game surprised me big time. It hits way above its weight, and is great for those looking for those who like their games a little relaxed. The controls, menu system are simple and the game is easy to pick up and get into. Best of all, the game excels at its core mechanic, the point-and-click interface hidden goodies interface. In 8 hours, I could complete all achievements- and I'm far from an accomplished gamer.

Highly recommended at a discounted price, 9/10.

Well, this was a pile of fun! I'd classify this somewhere between a city simulator, a point and click adventure, and an RPG. In order to progress in the game, you have to manage your resources and figure out what is and is not valuable to you at any point in time.

The graphics were super simple. At the same time, they drew me in.

My only complaint is that the ending didn't match the epic nature of the game. It's just... "Hurray! You win!"

Still, I had a great time. The story, while generic, did draw me in. And I loved advancing the story!
