  • “Just the way fans would want it” - Destructoid
  • "Fans of the classic 80s game have nothing to worry about." - PrimaGames
  • "This classic quarter-muncher consumed a lot of my own money during summers as a kid, so it's nice to see the fantasy gameplay live on this latest incarnation." - Fortune

I bought this when the Steam Summer 2016 sale was on however I had it in my wishlist for quite some time expecting to pay full price when things got calmer irl.

I bought it so my fiancee and I could play together and because I remember playing the arcade version and falling in love with it.

My fiancee doesn't play games at all other than a few Match-3s on her phone. She was hooked by Gauntlet and bugged me to play. We managed to get 6 hours in on one day and that is from a woman who doesn't really have much interest in games anymore.

If you have a friend to play with locally this game is absolutely amazing. The difficulty pushes the casual player to want to continue and kick some ♥♥♥. The outcome from playing that impressed me the most is the drive from my fiancee to beat a failed stage even though we got our asses handed to us. This is often not the case with casual gamers who will generally quit once thing seem too difficult. She was determined to continue to finish a dungeon.

The graphics are amazing although if you're playing on a TV (Steam Link, as we were), it's incredibly easy to lose sight of your character. Your character is incredibly small when not playing solo in front of a PC screen which does unfortunately cause us to sit uncomfortably close to the TV screen and even then it is naturally hard to see where you character is in the midst of combat. Unfortunately changing the resolution of the game does not remedy this and will only scale down the entire image and not 'expand' like most games will.

If you are looking for a game you can play with someone sitting on your couch, this is most definately one of the best you'll ever find.

They have done the Gauntlet title well with the release of this game.

Great game, almost as good as the original from the 80's when I was a kid and played it the arcades together with friends.
The modern version is also best when playing together with friends on split-screen or over internet, split-screen being the best with 3 of your friends in the couch. Playing alone has it's good moments too.

I've only played the slayer edition. I've played both the old school Gauntlet and Dark Legacy, I am not new to video games. My brother and I were looking to play something fun.

What we have here is:

twin stick shooter without basic skills on the sticks(who thinks it a good idea to require you to use all of the right thumb buttons and then aim with the right joystick)

RPG with extremely lacking role playing( can buy some new hats and pants, woo)

Limted control over your character's skills( real ♥♥♥♥♥♥ to throw a shield and have it seem to actively target food in an enemy rich enviroment)

Whoever made this game seems to have a serious lack of understanding of what constitutes a fun game.

I love this remake. It's the same old classic arcade game with updated graphics. I sat down with my two kids over the course of a weekend and completed every level. They enjoyed it just as much as I did.

Although the playstyle is gauntlet like, no leveling, no 'progression' other than unlocking different types of equipment that provide different playstyle (not always for the better).

Launched game, destroyed food, got caught by death... repeated this about 5 times. If you ever played Gauntlet in the Arcade you will love this remaster. I bought the extra necro pack and I am horrible with the character but creates a great fun, fast paced game that anyone can join (thanks steam).

Highly recommended.

Some people just can't be pleased. If you are expecting a re-skin of Dark Legacy with better graphics you will be disappointed. If you want a fresh new Gauntlet with loads new ideas and content, I highly recommend this game. The devs have worked tirelessly (and STILL ARE) to please everyone, and that alone speaks volumes. Solo is fun, co-op is even better! Very much worth my money.

A fun overhead-view twin-stick game. Each character has a very different playstyle with extra variety built in as you unlock different weapons for them. Multiple difficulty levels too.

The game is also simple. It isn't some in-depth role playing game. Its just a dungeon-crawler, with the primary element being slaughtering crowds of monsters. Before too long, you have seen it all.

This game was gifted to me by a friend.

If you like dungeon runners then this game is for you. I've enjoyed playing it. Make sure you have a friend to play it though becasue the mah-♥♥♥♥er gets pretty damn hard the further you go.

I have no complaints about this game, having a good old time with it. If it gets too hard early on then replay a few stages or with someone in multiplayer and collect more gold to upgrade to proceed. Great feel using my xbox controller and the atmosphere is awesome on some of the stages. Good change up of enemies keeps you changing those combinations of attack and defense.

Awesome game. Super fun to play with friends. Classic dungeon hack n slash style game. Collesum mode is fun and endless is a good addition. It would be nice if the campaign mode had more of a story and was longer. All in all though its a really fun game. Great and east to play with friends and good for controllers.
