It's a fun enough game. Was a bit short. I would wait for it to go on sale before purchasing though.

This is a bit of a wonky game, but in a fun way. The game is set like diablo's dungeon crawl system, but your focus is to make it to the end of the stage (wherever that may be) with all of the relics on the stage. There is no minimap, so it gets a bit confusing at times. At the end of each world, there is a boss which relates to the show, and the area that you just completed which usually isn't that hard to fight.

If you watch the show as much as I do, you'll appreciate the powerups, as they all relate to funny/cool things from the episodes.

This game is a shorter version of the free version on Cartoon Network's website. This has 4 main worlds while the website version has 7.

Epic Quest is extremely reminiscent of ToeJam & Earl. Not a bad thing at all.
Performance is good, controls are tight and has support for 1440p+/120hz/60fps+.

Voiceover work has been done by the original cast. Plenty of new lines have been voiced which tie into the 'video game' world very well which is important. Most of your favourite characters from the series make appearances, both the friends and foes. Set across the different worlds each containing at least 5 levels, you will come across a bunch of familiar collectables while following your main 'quest' to obtain the relics.

Upbeat chiptune 8/16bit styled soundtrack. Not only fits the theme but is rather catchy too.

Great game for the price and fans of the series.
Easily recommended from what i've played. :)

I enjoyed playing through Adventure Time: Finn and Jake's Epic Quest. I would recommend it to any Adventure Time fan.
Picked it up during a steam sale for 5 dollars.

+Good chiptune music as well as music from the show.
+Level up system and ability to upgrade to different weapons with Billy. (Finn gets different swords & Jake's hand shapeshifts into various weapons)
+Switching between Finn (quick attacks and can roll to dodge) and Jake (stronger but slower attacks and can form a shield)
+Original voice actors from the cartoon!
+Boss battles against various villains from the show.
+It's fun to try out different pages/powerups from the Enchiridion book which include backup from Neptr (Never ending pie throwing robot), transformation into Fionna and Cake, traveling on Lady Rainicorn, beating up enemies with the Jakesuit, and summoning Marceline to play her bass which make enemies dance, and leaves them vulnerable to attacks. Some pages can be be bad such as the Knife storm which hits both you and enemies. Princess Bubblegum can reveal the effect of an unknown Enchiridion page. (21 different pages to collect)
+Losing your file/progress is no longer an issue due to patch and updates from the developers.
+The developers continue to patch and fix bugs and glitches. Thanks!

-Gets repetitive. There are sidequests from Key-per, but they always involve killing x amount of a certain enemy, finding and opening x amount of chests, or finding a hidden snail within the level.
-Charcters get stuck once in awhile, but can be fixed by switching characters.
-Low level cap (max lvl is 15)
-Game doesn't seem too challenging on normal. (Hard mode is available)
-Not long enough. I believe the average time to beat the game is 5-10 hours. Maybe less if you choose not to explore every level once you find the exit.
-No new game modes or unlockables after finishing the game.
-Needs more worlds, enchiridion pages/powerups and character cameos from the show like LSP. (hopefully they add expansions or dlc)

With that being said I still recommend this game because it's a solid fun adventure game. The gameplay is smooth, battles with recognizable enemies such as Gunter and Brain Beast is enjoyable, and it's fun exploring and interacting with the characters from the land of Ooo. Look out for that Door Lord!

Best Adventure Time game I've played yet. I really dig the art style and how the world is laid out. Combat is fun, switching characters is too. I love all the little nods crammed in here towards the show as well. Also, it's the cheapest AT game at $8. If you're a fan, you can't go wrong.

Extremely good, for the price. Reminds me a bit of Toejam and Earl, with some Diablo/Skylanders/Torchlight thrown in. The retro-style music is incredible, and having the original VAs was an outstanding idea as it definitely feels like Adventure Time. Make sure when you're attacking to slowly press the key in time with the attacks, rather than mashing; it gives you a brief moment to realign your attack if the enemy's hitbox is out of your range.

This game is amazingly poor in quality:
• Music is repetitive
• Fights are stale and are enemies boring
• 90% of the game is kiting enemies, to eventually wander around the map long enough to find the exit and move on to the next level. Where you do the same thing over again.
• The audio sometimes overlaps itself
• Few lines of dialog in the game, they repeat quite often,
o Some characters don’t even have lines and instead are replaced with random sounds, similar to the character in Don’t Starve.
The power are fun and unique but they don’t make up for the overall unpolished nature of this game.
I got Jake stuck several time while playing, there is a feature where he can teleport out of walls to the player but if you don’t have certain spells I could see people actually getting stuck in the walls and not be able to proceed forward in the game.
I wish that for once we could get an adventure time game that isn’t a cash in on the TV show.

This game is a trainwreck in every aspect.
1. Every area is exactly te same, with no variety other than ice instaead f grass or lava instead of ice.
2. Enemies are boring, only about 10 different enemies throughout the game.
3. Like most beat-em-up games spamming the attack button as fast as you can is an easier way to win then actually trying.
4. Acheivments are lame and uninspired.
5. Graphics look like a slghty higher res N64 game.

This game is very much like a throwback to toejam and earl, but different. Alot of the same rules apply. I have MANY fond memories of that game, so my hats off to the peeps who made this. My son and I have been faithfully watching Adventure Time from the beginning of the series. My son thinks it's just a cool show while I, being and old man in my mid 30's, gets the D and D references and many other adult themes. My opinion of the game is slighty biased. Hell, I even liked "explore the dungeon" because the green fairies boosted imagination! And they said this is a kids show......

The game is fun to play, it has RPG elements (EXP, money, loot) which is one of the reasons I bought it.
I can recommend this for you, if you like Adventure Time and somewhat childish adventure games. It's easy to play, with controller and/or keyboard. You decide! :)

The game's a nice little mix of Toe Jam & Earl and Action RPGs like Diablo, with some very (very!) light RPG elements. You go through maze-like levels, collect stuff and use some ridiculous power ups. The graphics are not amazing, but capture the charm of Adventure Time well. So does the voice acting (all of the original voice actors are here!).

It does get repetitive after a while, but the game is short and sweet, and it's hella cheap. Easy recommentdation for Adventure Time fans!

The Good,
This game kickes butt and is lots of fun to play. The game requires you to be a fan of the show to get the jokes and references but they are the best thing about the game. You can casually play this funny game whilst taking in the great views at a steady 45 frames. In the game, you find scrolls that stay anonymouse and does not say there meaning until you use them. This makes combat fun because when you're in a tough fight the unknown ability could be lifesaver, or screw you up. The combo's in the game and the idea of Fin rolling and Jake blocking and doing more damage makes their be 2 different playstyle's you can easily swaqp to at your will. It's a shame that you they have the same combo abilitys though :(

The Bad,
The game is extremely difficult unless you play on easy mode as the camera gets in the way and is very difficuly to attack enemies in combat. These effects do take some time getting used to but are a miniority in the long run. After mastering the camera the game does start to get a LOT easier as strafing and rolling become more natural. But the biggest flaw by far is the controls. The PC controls are garbage as they don't use the mouse buttons only the keyboard, this mean that gamepad makes the game a lot easier to control. The layout felt akward and most of the time got in the way of me playing.

All in all, I give the game a 7/10 and would erge anyone to buy it if they can get a deal, if not I would leave it.

This is a long review so if you just want a brief summary of why I recommend this game skip to Results and read from there.

NGD Studios does a great job bringing Adventure Time to the video game world with this epic hack ‘n slash adventure. Adventure Time: Finn and Jake’s Epic Quest is a fantastic game that mixes the great elements from RPGs with the awesome level schemes of ToeJam & Earl.

Adventure Time: Finn and Jake’s Epic Quest takes you out of the Land of Ooo and throws you into a new world that splits Ooo into floating islands. You play as Finn and Jake as they find themselves in a video game, which they use to explain all the weird elements. BMO has gone missing and it’s up to you to bring him back, but where is he? As you progress through the game you receive clues that help you find your lost comrade. In order to solve the mystery you must find artifacts scattered throughout the worlds, and eventually you will find the key.

The campaign is split across four worlds, which you can either run through quickly or if you take your time exploring every corner. Each world has six levels and a boss, which you must use different tactics to defeat. The first world is the Witch’s Garden (if you remember the show this is where Jake loses his powers for an episode because he stole a donut), Ice Kingdom, Fire Kingdom, and Land of the Dead. The levels have various minions which are all from the show, and you will fight bosses that are all characters who Finn and Jake got into scruffs with.

The game takes elements from hack ‘n slash titles and mixes it with that of ToeJam & Earl. In fact this game is almost exactly like Toe Jam and Earl except you can attack enemies. You find pages of the Enchiridion which you can use producing some sort of result either positive or negative. You can pay Princess Bubblegum to identify the pages, which if you ever find again it will remain identified (unless you use a page randomizer). Your character has a maximum level of 15, and every three levels you gain a new weapon. The weapons make your character stronger and grant them with special abilities. Jake is the powerhouse and Finn is for speed. As you progress throughout the game you will find keys which you can use to unlock chests, and you must search for artifacts. Similar to ToeJam & Earl you will be informed which levels artifacts are on so you don’t need to search every level. You can fall of the edges of the world which allows you to return to previous levels meaning you can go backwards in the campaign. Although unlike ToeJam & Earl you can only fall one level at a time, and the campaign seems to save the previous levels enemies so if you go back the levels are empty. The Enchiridion offers about thirty pages: two have negative results, three help you get across gorges, two of them give money, one of them gives health items, and the rest provide you with some sort of buff. Overall there are not too many pages, but you will enjoy them if you use them.

> I found myself searching every nook and cranny of each level, but once you hit level 15 there is no point in hanging around.
>Levels with artifacts tell you that they have artifacts, so you don’t need to search every level.
>Don’t use any pages until you’ve had princess bubblegum examine them (because if you select the page randomizer you can lose really good pages).
>I beat the game on hard and I played the entire game only using the occasional food page. If I were playing this game again I would use as many pages as possible because the game is incredibly easy either way.
>The keys pass through the levels, so if you have some keys on one level you can bring them to the next one.
>If you need to get off in a hurry just jump off the edge of the world, it saves the game for you and puts you at the end of the previous level.

Adventure Time: Finn and Jake’s Epic Quest is a brilliant game that brings together elements of traditional Hack ‘n Slash and combines it with the greatness of ToeJam & Earl. I would not be amazed if the developers made this as a tribute to ToeJam & Earl. The game has four different bosses, loads of different enemies, crazy amounts of Enchiridion pages that give you special abilities, 24 levels (28 if you include boss fights), and quests that keep you going. If you like adventure games, RPGs, and Hack ‘n Slash this is the game for you.

+Long campaign with 28 total levels, including boss fights.
+Loads of Enchiridion pages which allow you to essentially cast special spells.
+Fifteen levels, which allow you to become stronger.
+A funny story that brings Adventure Time to life.
+Great voice acting and awesome music.
+Four crazy boss fights that require you to use various tactics and strategies.
+Two different characters which you can switch through using different abilities.
+Decent graphics

-The game can get rather repetitive; you definitely will want to take a break from it every now and then.
-When you fall off a level it puts you right at the end of the previous level.
-The audio volume settings are in the same page as the graphics settings (if you change the audio volume it also reapplies the graphic settings).
-There could be more Enchiridion pages, the book seems kind of bland at times and most of the pages seem to accomplish the same thing.
-There isn’t that much voice acting involved, there is very little conversation between any of the characters.
-Even on hard this game is ridiculously easy.

Bright Souls

- This is just a first impression after one session -

I bought this not expecting much, but there are some neat systems in place. Actually, it plays like a little Dark Souls for kids, Finn has two attacks, a fast and huge one, there is a e.g. a combo system and you pick up spells on the way that either have random (money falls from the sky, or you start leaving a trace of saliva) or specific effects.
I haven't used Jake as much, he seems to have a shield function, but he can also punch things.

If you've played Adventure Time on the DS or 3DS, this doesn't seem too far from it, the same mixture of levels that are a tiny bit empty and random and at the same time you feel a lot of dev love and respect for the Adventure Time cosmos.

By the way, I actually managed to die in the second level. So even though this is aimed at kids (Finn and Jake do a bit of action RPG 101 in the beginning, explaining what EXP are and stuff) you don't have to set yourself to dumb mode to enjoy this. Also, the difficulty is selectable.

The way the game pokes fun at action RPG conventions reminds me of Evoland, but here it's a little more graceful: "Look Finn, there is money coming out of this guy's head!"

First impressions
- This is not a cashgrab.
- Enemies are interesting
- Levels themselves are not terribly exciting.
- Controls mostly well with a gamepad, though a certain stiffness in the sword play can't be denied. Of course it's not Dark Souls, but it's closer to that than to Diablo, because direct controls and two basic attack types.

Second thoughts after playing more
- The music really grates, the show is full of nice little tunes, the game only has a few.
- The levels really don't make any sense, they are no places, just random corridors on floating islands
- I don't understand why collecting money is a central mechanic if the more expensive things you can buy are spells that fizzle away in seconds
- This game has a lot of unused potential which could and should be unlocked in future updates:

Wishlist for later versions
- Local Coop. It's a must. It can't be hard to implement.
- Less random levels. The pieces are there.
- More music.
- A few environmental puzzles wouldn't hurt.
- If puzzles aren't the way: more combos / variety in battle.
