What is Oozi you ask. Well it is simply what I like to call a generic JAP (Just Another Platformer). In fact while its nice and has a kiddie feel it just does not live up to the hype that is expected of a quality platformer. If your considering buying this game just keep you money to yourself and play SuperTux instead. Not only is a free platformer more exciting than this but it has much more innovation than this one will ever have.

Another platformer game like mario or yoshi, simple story, 4 difficulty levels. kid mode=invincibility, hard mode=insta-death. Would not buy for the retail price of 5 dollars, but I got this game with a 90% off coupon from crafting, the 55 cents were ok spent I guess. A good game for derping around, but you could find a flash game just as good for free on the internet.

The game is childishly cute and the story is kept simple. The sound fits in very well with the game's atmosphere. You jump around, gather stars, stomp funny looking creatures on the head while avoiding falling into lava, water and being crushed (among other things) on your way to the exit.
There are 4 difficulty levels to choose from, ranging from being immortal to 1-shot you're dead. However, loads of checkpoints make dying a minor issue so if you got some experience from this type of games then hardcore's the way to go.
As you progress in story mode you'll unlock extra bonus levels that offer new, unique challenges that'll keep you going once the story's over.
Something I believe to be very important in this type of game are the controls and I'm glad to say that they were excellent. Easy to learn and the little alien do as he's commanded (and yet I somehow managed to drown it in lava more than once).

I wouldn't recommend this to a hardcore gamer who's looking for something difficult to sink his or her teeth into because the game's not that hard. If you're looking for a fun, casual platformer however then it's great!
I would also definitly recommend this to parents who seek a game for their kids but don't like all the blood and gore that's so common in most games today. If your kid is old enough to understand the controls then this is a really good game!

Personally, being of the NES-generation I actually did have a lot of fun with this one and although I'd never give it a 5 I can't see any reason as to not give it a 4 =)

1 - Crap, don't buy
2 - Fun for an evening
3 - It's an alright game but not my taste
4 - Great game
5 - One of the best I've ever played

I'll keep it short: Oozi is a competent platformer, but it doesn't offer anything to differentiate it from all the other platformers that exist. You could play it, and have an okay time, but why bother when there's more interesting platformers out there?

I actually really like this game. It has that oldschool 8/16-bit era feel to the game play but with high def graphics. It doesn't try to be anything other than a good platformer. Kind of reminds me of the Giana Sisters. No gimmicks or other nonsense, just an alien trying to find his things scattered across a world, avoiding/jumping on enemies and collecting stars along the way.

Probably not everyone's cup of tea, perhaps not challenging enough for many, but I've enjoyed my time playing through the first world already, and I expect the other levels to be equally enjoyable.

Absolutely amazing game for so cheap!! Stunning graphics and gameplay for a platformer. I've been playing on hardcore and it's not too challenging, although I've died plenty of times from silly things like accidently sliding into an enemy or falling into water. With all the respawn points, it doesn't take long to pick up where you left off. Love this game!! Highly recommend it especially now since it's on sale for the week.

Solid platformer, safe for younger kids to play. Not a bad game for ten bucks, although I got this with a 90% off coupon. The control was a little awkward with the keyboard, but was very smooth with my Dual Shock controller. I've played a few levels in, and will likely save the rest for my 6yo son, who is a bit hyper and tends to get too crazy when he plays games with a lot of violence. Dad approved, and for what I tried out of it (about six levels) it's a challenging and fun little romp through a well drawn and animated landscape.

I started to play this game yesterday and today I finally played it to the end. I used level "Normal" which was good for gaming if you have any experience about platformers before that.

Shortly said, this game was excellent platformer. Controls was made very well and it was a pleasant experience to play. There were no lots of buttons to learn so you could just start and play and game will teach you in game all what you need to know.

Music was nice, only some loop starts did not sound to match perfectly but not a problem. Also the graphics were awesome. It is very easy to recommend this platformer to others.

If I would have to whine about something then I'd like to say that sometimes levels were too long. It is not a problem if you have lots of time, but I personally prefer levels which takes about 5 minutes to play though. That is surely just a personal preference and your mileage may vary. Shorter levels would give you more possibility to do quick gaming sessions. Anyway this is not a big deal in this game because it was so great anyway.

Another one what I'd like to whine is that it would have been nice to see some short video or something in the end. Anyway, not bad still.

Highly recommened :)

Oozi is a cute platformer that feels like it could have come from the N64/PSX era. The story is pretty much nonexistent, but the fun level is there. The game introduces new mechanics at (an almost too) leisurely rate. The challenge level overall is pretty average, but it can be significantly raised for fans of games such as Mr. Bree+ and Super Meatboy. Enemies stay dead once you've killed them, though, even if you have to repeat a section, so if a particular area is giving you a hard time, you can clear it first before attempting to navigate the environmental hazards. 5 hidden "secret stars" on each level provide a bit of replay value.

The Good: Bright, crisp, colorful graphics, with beautiful detail. Controls are fairly responsive, although Oozi does do a tiny slide upon landing that can be a bit annoying on particularly tight jumps.
The Bad: No options to configure controls (what is this, 1996?). Does not recognize any controller except for Xbox 360. There is no way to see how many secret stars you've collected on the current playfield.
The Indifferent: Music is acceptable, if redundant. Hitbox is sometimes wonky, and the camera occasionally tweaks out.
Recommended? Yes, but I'd wait for a bundle or sale, as $10 seems a bit steep, especially with minimal configuration options and no way to rebind keys.
