Many years ago I got this game in some kind of bundle. The game looks weird which isn't a bad thing but I didn't know what to do. Now after all those years I wanted to try this game one more time to see if this was really that weird. Sadly, the game is no longer playable. When trying to open the game, you will get redirected to another Meridian4 (dev) game called "R.I.P.". Besides I'm pretty sure the game is not even being sold on Steam anymore, but that's no real loss.

P.S. I did not spend this many hours into this game, the game got stuck in the background.

Don't waste your money on it. I only played this game because I got it in a pack, and when you try to open it it sends you to another page to buy another game. After working hard to fix it, its just aterrible game. The resolution is bad, the graphics are bad, and it seems its meant for a computer made in the prehistoric era. DONT GET IT!

This game is either broken or to hard for me to figure out what to do as I never got anywhere in it. I do not recomend this game.

MINUSES:
- When I click on "Play", it sends me to buy "RIP - Trilogy™". But I already payed for this game, why do I need to pay for another game???
- I can't even launch this game!!!

P.S: If you ask me how and why I got 5 minutes playing, then I answer you I click on "Play", then "Library" (I did it approximately 100-150 times). Because, to write a review you need minimum 5 minutes playnig.

I don't get this game in the end. It's too indy to understand but the art in game is good, combined of contrast and minimalist concepts resulting in beautiful graphic. This game requires a trick to play cutscenes which you had to put Alt + Enter in the game and then it will run perfectly.

Don't waste you money on this. I really don't know if they game is incomplete or is mean to be like this... when i installed it it send me to the page of the game "RIP - Trilogy", i did have to clic on the download demo to be able to start the game.

A lot of black screens where you only hear weird sounds, poor graphics, my monitor was constantly attemping to adjust resolution. Could get to the first level trying to click some parts of the scenery, send me to a dark screen... go to the menu, click on clues, the game crashes.

I suppose my PC is not compatible with this game... i suppose it may work on olders machines.. i suposse the dark screen are the pre-render videos... do you want to try your luck?

When run, it would open up the store page for some random game. Had to download a demo for that game just to get this to run. Where a normal game would put cutscenes, I get a black screen with a raspy voice speaking to me in Portuguese. Somewhere in the middle of act 2 (~10 minutes in) the game quit and took me back to the title screen and I had no further motivation to play it.

There are times when Metacritic gets it wrong, and this is most definitely one of those times. A score of 61 would put this game in the "Meh, it's OK" category, though with Vigil: Blood Bitterness, that decimal point needs to go about 1 or 2 places to the left. Even a score of 10 should have triggered a federal investigation of payola over at Metacritic.

The game's one novel feature, the developer's apparent tweaking of the Dark Engine's texture filters until only black and white remains, is a one-trick pony that wears out its welcome within minutes, and becomes simply glaringly, wince-inducingly annoying.

Gameplay is nothing more than an exercise in frustration, as clues are cryptic without being logical, solutions are arbitrary and often linked to timers tuned so short that anything less than following the developer's intended path and timing, without an angstrom's width of deviation, will result in certain death and banishment back to the last checkpoint. Bugs are game-breaking and interspersed with the wonky puzzles in such a way that there is no way to tell if you are simply approaching the puzzle "incorrectly", or if the game has broken itself in such a way to make the puzzle unsolveable.

I had played through a section with a long walkway outside and "airlocks" at each end. If you remained outside on the walkway, you died, suggesting vacuum outside. If you didn't open, run through, then CLOSE both airlocks, you died. If you ran through, opened and closed both airlocks, BUT didn't run far ENOUGH into the next room, you died (That's right: if you did it correctly, and were standing inside the safe room -- but too close to the CLOSED airlock -- you died). If you ran through, opened and closed both airlocks, ran far enough into the next room, BUT didn't do it quickly enough, you died. Fine. Except that a few puzzles later, backtracking through this area, one could now stand anywhere on the outside walkway indefinitely. The airlocks were now open and inoperable, presumably because that section was now "solved" and no longer necessary. So, really, just suddenly no more vacuum of space? But as soon as I stepped through the inoperable airlock into the next room, I was immediately killed by asphyxiation, judging from the death cutscene -- a cutscene by now in furiatingly familiar to me in this area.

Finally, giving up after about 36 tries, I looked up the solution on YouTube, only to find that I had done everything correctly, but the game had jiggered itself up so completely that it was now impossible to "solve" and progress.

I generally make a strong effort to complete every game I begin, but this game had played me like a cheerleader plays a nerd on prom night, and I had had enough. I never went back. I swear, as I clicked "Delete local content" I heard myself let out an evil little giggle.

So don't do it. Just don't. Browse away from this page and never return. If I can save just one of you from the torture that I endured trapped inside this ♥♥♥♥ of a game, then my suffering will have been worth it. Look upon my trembling, twitching form and mutter, "Wow, that could've been me". Now go.

In a nutshell: After spending hours to try to get it to work, only to find you need to download another game to play it, you will then experience extreme lag, error messages, missing saves and broken controls.

Good points:
+ Good art style. If it runs.

Bad points:
- It doesn't run unless you click to intall the demo then click the cross. Even then it doesn't really work.
- Over priced. Should be free. Or be paying us.
- Loads of bugs, lag and broken controls.

Overall:
It may not be as bad as I think but the amount of time I spent trying to get it to work with some other people just wasn't worth it. In the end, I just gave up, meaning I never got to really see if it was a good game. So, if you think you could fix it, go ahead, but be sure to tell us over in the discussion area if it works.

Don't touch this broken, buggy, game even if you get it for free. You'll only regret the wasted time downloading it and the hdd space it's taking up!

The game glitched when it was first installed some time ago, poor controls, cut-scenes not visible giving the impression the game has crashed amongst other things. Since then another damned great glitch has turned it into an expensive shortcut to the RIP - Trio page!!!

Don't know whether to blame Steam (for selling it), Meridian4 (for publishing it) or Freegamer (for developing it). Think I'll go for Freegamer, their homesite is nothing more than a facebook page! Should never have trusted somebody whose address is the digital equivalent of a p.o. box!

After playing this there is a great amount of bitterness running through my veins, so I guess it lived up to it's name in that respect.

I played this game to see if the reviews were exaggerating (I got one of those Puzzle Indie Pack coupons), so the first thing I will say is: They were not exaggerating. Not at all.

I'm not entirely sure what to say, like as with the other reviews the design idea seemed cool. Y'know until you actually put it into practice and realise that walls and doors and open spaces are basically the same colour: black (yay!). The cutscenes for me were broken, so I was probably more confused than most of the already confused people playing this (or less, you never know). The movement is awkward, the camera angles were frustrating...I think what I'm trying to get out is this game was so confusing and so poorly designed that it felt like less of a game and more of a chore.

Steer clear! First off, this game will not run properly on Windows 7, and I'm guessing Windows 8. You have to run it in compatibility mode and it still doesn't work correctly. In addition, the game tries to force you to install the demo for another game before you can run it. You can trick it, but this is still extremely shady. After you finally get it running it's just confusing and barely playable due to many graphical erros and hiccups. Avoid it completely, even if like me you were suckered into buying it in a bundle.
