Oyun Açıklaması

Crashed and alone on a world mankind tried to leave behind, Darkout challenges players to survive on Illuna, in harsh, procedurally generated biomes, utilizing the game’s sandbox features to build shelters, craft weapons, and research new technologies.

You are not alone. Light-sensitive creatures prowling the landscapes become most active at night and in a world shrouded by clouds the security of day will never come, instead, twilight periods allow players minor security to explore, rebuild, and gather resources.

Darkout’s deep history manifests itself through logs left behind by others, some recent, while others hearken back to long-extinct natives of Illuna, offering glimpses into what events led up to the pandemonium that now persists.

How will you survive?

Welcome to Darkout – Stage 1

What is stage 1?

Thanks to everyone’s feedback and a year of Beta the game is finally in a place which we can consider the base version of Darkout, Stage 1.

From this point on we will expand on the universe, Biomes, Gameplay, Items, etc.

We currently have 3 more Key stages planned and will reveal all the details of these plans as we develop the game further, not unlike our predecessors in the Sandbox genre.

In-between the stages we will also have some mini updates as needed :)

Stage 2 – 4 will contain
  • More Story
  • Why are you here and what is really going on? All this will be revealed as Each stage contains a new act for the storyline
  • More Biomes
  • Underwater Biome, Sky Base, Feral Jungle, etc
  • An End Game
  • Fix the Ship or Illuna? Only time will tell
  • More enemies
  • The Penguin Drones
  • More bosses with each Stage
  • Survivors
  • Dead, alive, evil, good?
  • Underground Bunkers / Labs
  • Unique treasures, enemies, stories
  • Vehicles
  • Sub, Mech, and?
  • Weapons, Devices, rewards, achievements, etc!

Review updated: Thumbs down.

Reason: dev does not intend to finish the game properly. Sadly that's a greenlight/early access speciality of devs. While the game is fun with the content so far see review below I don't intend to reward bad habits (like selling unfinished games) by recommending the game to anyone.

Dev goes on about act 2 etc. but updates indicate he's given up on this product or working on DLC
or episode 2.
If you don't wanna support this behaviour, don't buy this game.

Old review:
Had a fun time exploring the content of the game just after release. (31 hrs on record) Felt unpolished but the devs still add to the game and also Terraria wasn't quite finished after release. I'll be returning to the game once there's more content and the plot completed.

As you see on the pictures you explore a dark planet (as a stranded astronaut). Creatures spawn aggressively in the dark so you put up lights and build a shelter. You dig down to get rarer metals, craft better armors and weapons. You know the formula.

Looks and atmosphere are the selling point as the game is prettier than some of its competitors and feels claustrophobic in the dark depths filled with horrors. Despite being a Terraria-like the game has its own feel to it unlike say "Edge of Space" which I still find slow-going with a cumbersome control.

Concepts like electric wiring or rails aren't properly explained ingame but are fun once you figured out/read how they work.

Can recommend for a fun experience and will only become better over time.

There is quite a bit to say about Darkout. I'll try to be as non-partisan as possible.

With the explosion of greenlight games and the large number of 'Metroidvania' sandbox style games on Steam, it's hard to make one stand out from the rest. Darkout, like Terraria, or Starbound, takes yet another approach at these sandbox style games, but, of course, is still very much the same.

Indeed, Darkout is much the same old grind. Spending hour upon relentless hour, mining through piles of the same dirt, and rock, only to fill your inventory and discard, rinse and repeat. Just enough to get you the resources to build an elevator to reach the depths of the shaft you just dug. With the same old spotty mouse targeting as others, a horrible grouping system for mining, a terribly inaccurate crafting system, and a slew of other annoying bugs, it is tedious at best during these hours, searching for resources, and can often be a real chore, during these times, to play.

It has more base in sci-fi than others in it's genre, even more so than Starbound, only short of having a spaceship and being able to explore a number of alien worlds. With crafting devices like the Combinator, the Molder, and the Chem-Lab, weapons such as the Laser gun, and fusion based power devices, it's a sci-fi sandbox geek's dream come true. Coupled with a fragmented, yet deeply frightening storyline, and some absolutely dazzling light effects and much better graphics and visuals, overall, Darkout is a step ahead of the rest. With a fairly extensive research/tech/crafting tree and some fun and interesting exploratory and combat scenarios, heavily focused on the use of light, Darkout is, again, in a class of it's own.

A key thing to remember is that being another 'early release' title, or beta, at this point, the small Independent Developers, Allgraf ---- http://www.darkoutgame.com/ are slowly, but surely, diligently churning through bug fixes and adding new content for upcoming stages of the game, including more story, new monsters and biomes and of course, more craft items.

While I might not recommend it, at this time, for anyone who is easily frustrated, I am excited for the future of this great game, and can imagine recommending it to any player who enjoys this genre of game, and possibly even players who don't, upon the game's completion.

In short, after all of that, Darkout is an absolute GEM. Recommended? Definitely.

This game feels incomplete and broken, which is a shame because it shows a lot of promise. If it was an early access title and the devs showed more activity then this would be different. But as this is released as a "complete" game and there doesn't seem to be any improvement in the actual game or any idea when the promised features will actually be rolled out. The controls are broken and awkward and the graphics quality is inconsistent. In its current state I cannot recommend this, I really hope the devs manage to make some dramatic changes that are needed.

Another entry in the increasingly crowded sci-fi Terraria-clone genre. Anyone who has played Terraria will know more or less what to expect in this game. Procedurally-generated world, exploration, resource collection, crafting, etc. A lot of basic Terraria concepts and mechanics still apply. In particular, digging a "hellevator" (a mine shaft straight down to the magma-filled lowest levels of the world, with water at the bottom to break your fall) is just as useful in this game.

The things that are notable with this particular game:
  • Hi-fi graphics that capture much more detail than the pixelart graphics used in most Terraria-clones.
  • Lightness / darkness mechanism. The darker your surroundings are, the more likely that things-that-go-bump-in-the-night are to spawn around you, and the stronger these dark monsters are. Bathing these monsters in light will weaken them noticeably, Alan Wake style.
  • Loads of high-tech futuristic devices and set pieces to build your base with. Power circuits and switches to turn lights and devices on and off.
  • Multitudes of light-producing gizmos in various styles and colors to craft and decorate your base with.

My main criticisms of the game are a poorly-conceived main storyline progression system that requires random item drops, and a lack of minibosses to fight for loot drops. The game also seems to still be a work in progress despite not being in Early Access, so occasional bugs still crop up, the more common of these being inventory items dropping to the ground when you try to drag them onto the hotbar.
