Intense Combat, Sniping, Stealth and Sabotage – all are viable approaches for the player, maximizing player engagement and replayability. • Choose your own fight: gameplay blends fast-paced FPS action with precision sniping thrilling stealth, and deadly sabotage in the first open-ended WW2 game.
  • Deal death from afar: use sniper rifles to decimate enemy ranks and pick off officers, enemy snipers and heavy weapons gunners with deadly precision.
  • Breathtaking visuals, interactive environments and spectacular action across many iconic Resistance operations of WW2.
  • Choose your own weapon: full arsenal of WW2 weaponry across all categories of hand-guns, SMGs, assault rifles, sniper rifles, as well as signature Resistance weapons including the Sten gun, Welrod Silenced Pistol, and Lightning SMG.
  • Own the battlefield: combine reconnaissance, explosives and marksmanship to prepare, misdirect and ambush numerically superior Nazi troops.
  • Engaging, destructible environments and advanced tactical AI means combat is always a rewarding and dynamic experience.
  • Highly replayable 10 hour Single-Player Campaign and 12-player Online Multiplayer, all powered by CRYENGINE technology.

Enemy Front is a WW2 First-Person Shooter developed by CI Games. It isn't deserving of it's bad reviews, at least when it's on sale. When and if this game is on sale, it isn't a bad game at all. It has fantastic visuals, great audio and solid shooting. However, it is flawed, very flawed. The movement can feel absolutely horrible. It can be so hard to actually enjoy the game because of it. It is awful and slow. On some devices it can take multiple attemps to boot it up. The game can also be so easy. But on the veredict, on sale (for usually) $3-$5 this game is gold. It can be fun, undoubtedly stunning graphics that definately keep you immersed, great audio and an interesting campaign, this game is worthy of a 7/10

Sooooo easy litterally no challenge what so ever even on the highest difficulty (for me), It feels like I was playing call of duty on the easiest mode possible (exept this was on 'Expert'.

I didn't even bother with looking at other stuff in tha game this flaw was gamebreaker for me, I don't know maybe you're a cod fan for some ungodly reason, then maybe this can feed your meaningless ego a bit ^^.

Its a great WWII fps, graphics are great and the gameplay feels similiar to CoD WaW but different in a good way. The multiplayer is very fine too so i dunno why more people dont enjoy this game.

To start off its not a bad game. I wouldn't even exactly call it ww2 but if I were to it would have to be the very very start of ww2. The campaign was not bad but things take a nose dive when it comes down to the multiplayer. Very VERY little amount of maps and to be honest the game is dead. The problem is NO ONE PLAYS THE DAMN GAME. Not surprising since it's not an amazing game. What killed the game you ask. Well the fact that someone has to make a server for you to join, and since there is barely anyone playing you may never get around to play. I wish the game went through testing because it's really a shame. All in all if you're really still interested go for the campaign. Can't say I recommend it though.

I remember doing a project back when I was in High school on the Warsaw Uprising. There are many things in the game that were true, from the 1939 invasion to the uprising 85% of the city was destroyed by January 1945, and the uprising lasted 63 days and the game ends on the 62nd day of the uprising. I also met a survivor of the uprising and he told me that it was the most horrific experience he went through and he was just 19 years old when he joined the Polish Resistance. He even told me that he prayed that something like that never has to happen again and that USA does not have to go through what he and the rest of the people of Poland went through back then. If you want a good World War 2 Story based on a true events of the resistance then I encourage you to play this game.

Although not at all innovative in its mechanics or story, Enemy Front is a bit of a black sheep in the ocean of first person shooters. Not only does it take place during World War II, which is a contrast to the contemporary and futuristic settings that are currently trendy, it also focuses on the equally fascinating yet not as famous resistance movements of WW2 – as opposed to the well-known exploits of American, British, and Soviet armies that have many times been explored in older war shooters. Here we take on the role of fictional American war correspondent Robert Hawkins, who infiltrates Nazi-controlled Europe at first in search of exciting news to print, but is then moved by the stories of ordinary people risking their lives to rise up against the Hitlerite regime and joins their struggles in France, Norway, Germany, and Poland.

Most of the game is set during the Warsaw Uprising of 1944, the largest military operation of resistance against the Third Reich, with various missions in between taking place earlier and in other countries as Hawkins recalls: his time with the French Résistance, taking part in the Norwegian heavy water sabotage operations, and impairing a V2 rocket factory alongside an antifascist German agent. It is wonderful to see the gaming industry finally give some recognition to the armed acts of civilians against the Nazis, but Enemy Front falls short of its potential to tell a more powerful story. Its one-man-army protagonist can blast through waves of German troops with ease; even though the plot does on a few occasions slow down to show the more sombre moments of Polish civilians trying to deal with the war – it even touches upon the topic of mass executions – the game for the most part sticks with the bombastic themes of an action blockbuster.

One thing that can’t be denied however is the beauty of Enemy Front’s environments. Yes, the foliage and character faces look dated, there are some low resolution textures here and there too, but the amount of detail put into creating the picturesque communes and châteaux of France, the snowy mountainous surroundings of Vemork, the rural forested areas of Germany, and of course the haunting magnificence of a once glorious Warsaw gradually bombed to utter ruin by the Luftwaffe is stunning. Moreover, many of these areas are quite faithful recreations of real locations in wartime Warsaw (Holy Cross Church, the PAST building, Copernicus’ monument, the Varsovian sewers, etc.). Sadly, there are some historical inaccuracies when it comes to other visual details, such as the anachronistic appearance of a StG 44/MP 43 in 1940, which is 3 years before it actually entered service.

The gameplay at first seems to be fairly unremarkable, clearly modelled after modern military shooters, but Enemy Front eventually shows its cards and you realise that it has more up its sleeve than the boring singleplayer campaigns of much of its competition. Although mostly linear in design, some of the levels here are actually surprisingly open-ended with larger zones and multiple possible approaches, along with secondary objectives and collectibles. There is even a basic stealth system in place with shooting out lights, quiet knife kills, carrying dead bodies to hide them, and so on. The sniping mechanics previously tested in CI Games’ other series “Sniper: Ghost Warrior” are immensely fun to use here. It also helps that the core gunplay works well and is satisfying thanks to blood gusts and nice sound effects. Enemy Front’s score is great as well, yet the soundtrack used in combat gets slightly repetitive even in this 8 hour campaign.

Perhaps Enemy Front’s biggest flaw is its instability. Even though it is significantly better than it used to be at launch, I still had to restart from a checkpoint on 2 occasions because of glitches that stopped me from progressing further. I came across some floating corpses, enemies clipping through objects, and other such minor annoyances too. These problems didn’t occur all of the time, but they were too frequent for the fairly short experience that this game is. This and some oddities in otherwise competent enemy AI give away the fact that Enemy Front clearly didn’t have the benefit of the same budget as a typical AAA production in the West. Nevertheless, when it comes to the overall quality of the product, this is perhaps CI Games’ finest creation yet – finally stepping out of mediocrity as a genuinely decent game, even if somewhat rough around the edges and at times awkward (e.g. the HUD is oversized and intrusive).

In the end, I would recommend this to anyone looking for something thematically fresh in the war FPS genre – especially so if you are into partisan history. Enemy Front feels like a heartfelt tribute from its Varsovian studio to the men and women who took part in the Warsaw Uprising. As a game it is far from anything ground-breaking or revolutionary, its Eastern European production values clearly lag behind that of Activision and EA’s FPS offerings and so its set pieces are also less impressive, but the gameplay is actually more varied and engaging than most of the recent CoD or Medal of Honor titles. On the other hand, its online multiplayer can't truly compete with either of those franchises, probably due to the fact that its development was outsourced to a different company. Regardless, it can be fun for a while, if you manage to find any active servers.

Here are some tweaks to make the game even more pleasant to play: skip all the intro splash screens by going go to <Local Disk>\Program Files\Steam\SteamApps\common\Enemy Front\Game2\_FastLoad\ and deleting "IntroMovies.pak"; increase the FOV by finding "system.cfg" in the installation directory, editing it and changing both "cl_fov=" and "r_DrawNearFov=" to 59 (this is a vertical FOV number, so it should equate to 90 for horizontal FOV). To make enemy corpses and guns stay on the map forever change values for "g_enableWeaponUtilization" and "g_enableDeadBodyUtilization" from 1 to 0. Finally, again in the same file, change "g_show_crosshair=" from 1 to 0 if you want to play without the crosshair. It might seem weird that all of this can't be changed through the in-game options menu, but this is a problem that has unfortunately become the norm for most multiplatform FPS games on the PC.

An enjoyable enough experience.

Whilst not the most polished shooter of the past few years, it is nice to see a ww2 setting done again, and well.

The settings are suitably varied, showcasing little represented parts of the war such as the french/norwegian resistance, and the Warsaw uprising.

The game also has a decent variety of unique weapons alongside the WW2 usuals (never seen the De-Lisle carbine in a game before) and the gunplay is simple yet satisfying, as are the stealth mechanics.

The multiplayer is tacked on ♥♥♥♥♥ though, but then what did you expect?

Overall: if you\'ve had a yearning for a decent singleplayer WW2 shooter campaign, give this a shot

Well … where to start? How about the positives. The graphics are nice to look at and the main campaigns story was competent enough to keep me somewhat interesting, but that’s about it. The game is ridiculously easy (even on Hard) and I found myself only dying because I was making dumb decisions like running directly into machine gun fire. I also died due to the game a lot, it wouldn’t always let me throw back grenades and it wouldn’t always allow me to stop using an HMG (or similar thing), causing me to explode and get shot to death respectively. The AI is rather stupid … you could just sit around a corner and wait for the enemies to come into view (though I chose not to do that) and it’s rather unfortunate that it turns out that way as the environments feel like they’re designed for huge open firefights that just never happen. Then there’s the stealth mechanics that just don’t really work and feel cumbersome, I just rarely used them because it wasn’t fun trying to be stealthy and was laboriously slow and tedious. It’s also rather buggy. Friendly and enemy AI getting stuck and freezing, shots not always registering that they hit you/the enemy, random teleportation of the player (happened twice for seemingly no reason), and plenty of crashes during the loading screens. Lastly, it's fairly short and the ending is rather abrupt, only took me about 6 hours and I don't think I can justify purchasing it at full price. I will say that if you're interesting in the more unique setting of the game (half being the Warsaw Uprising, half being ... other stuff) then maybe get it discounted or in a bundle. I'm going to say not recommended for this one, but take it as being closer to neutral than to negative.

Many aspects of this title are ok. what confirms engagement to create a realistic game but why do we have Panzerfaust in France in 1940??? Warsaw Uprising is fantastic - this part has very good weapons and specific climat of fithing in the destroyed city.

Have you ever thought to yourself "You know what would be really cool? A game where you play as a reistance fighter, stealing supplies and ammunition from the enemy, using sabotage and hit and run tactice to strike back at the Nazi war machine." Well then good news! Enemy Front does not let you do this.
In Enemy Front, you too can go on (now famous, but at the time top secret!) British SOE/Norwegian commando raids as an American journalist for some reason, or sink famous German ships that never actually sank until after the war.

In exchange for the ability you have unfortunately lost the power to leap over even small fences, thus making it impossible to go anywhere the devs don't want you to go, but at least you can freeroam inside the nice little linear road they've set out for you. Plus, there's those convenient little infinite ammo boxes every twenty seconds, which is good, because otherwise you'd be at risk of running out occasionally and would have to conserve your ammunition, since you only carry four reloads for any given weapon (regardless of whether this is 20 KAR98 sniper rifle bullets, 20 KAR98 bullets (which are somehow different) or like 400 PPSH rounds) at a time.

Thrill at the nonscripted pleasure of running away from an exploding building down a fixed, linear path, then being knocked down by an explosion and helped back up in a cutscene! Not once, but twice! It's like no FPS you've ever played before, and definitely not one that came out in 2007 and starred a man with an enormous moustache!

Marvel at the time-travelling French resistance member who inexplicably gives you an STG-44 during a flashback to 1940, two years before that weapon's design was finished, and three years before the first one was built!

Chuckle warmly as the game provides you with a demolition objective, which is coincidentally the only destructible object in its "Engaging, destructible environment"! Clap appreciatively as you find the explosives you need literally right next to the objective - again! Wonder aloud why you can't place those charges on any of the other nearby things, even though you've done so before, then realise it's because the devs didn't think far enough ahead to provide an alternate route in their 'open-ended levels' in case you used up all your explosives!

Sigh indulgently as you breach through yet another door and go into slow motion to shoot all the nazis inside, not forgetting the guy who gets knocked onto his rear by the exploding door basically every single time.

Whoop with joy as you destroy the Nazi war machine's vaunted Panzers by shooting their frontal armour once, with a single shot antitank weapon! Gleefully call that weapon a Panzerschreck, even though it is clearly a Panzerfaust!

Get really mad because this game's devs clearly put no effort into their research and have no idea what actually happened in World War 2!

Post sarcastic reviews about it instead of doing something productive with your life!
