Acerca de este contenido

The ever-expanding conflicts within and between the TEC, Vasari, and Advent have pushed the battlegrounds into uncharted space. The sectors now being drawn into the war feature the most dangerous and powerful natural phenomena in the galaxy.

Exploit what resources remain in these dangerous sectors while you can. The uncharted depths of space hold threats beyond any natural phenomenon, and not all of them wait to be explored.

Key Features

  • New stars: Skirt the boundary of a deadly black hole, avoid the deadly radiation of a spinning pulsar, and survive the crushing gravity of an impossibly dense neutron star.
  • 6 new deep space anomalies: Mine the riches in the wreckage of a devastating fleet battle or recharge at an inexplicable fountain of antimatter tearing apart the fabric of space-time. Each anomaly’s all-new gameplay effect adds variety and strategic opportunities to every map.
  • 11 dramatic random events: The fate of not just your empire but the galaxy at large will change in a heartbeat with Stellar Phenomena’s random events enabled. Stars launch volatile gases that shut down orbital operations, mobile storms wreak havoc across the solar system, and conquered factions sense your weakness and seek to reclaim their worlds.

More content for an already great game sounds like a good idea. Not essential, but if you liked SoaSE:R, then it couldn't hurt to buy this and support the company and show interest in the genre.

This dlc is strange for me to explain. While it does put out game changing content that adds a random variable and interesting ideas, some of it is rather counter-intuitive to the elements of the original game, not to mention the stuff added feels like something that should have already been in the game to start with.

The dlc adds some rather interesting ideas to the game. For one, it follows the concept of the forbidden worlds dlc by adding variation to the galaxy, particularly in the star types. Black Holes, pulsars, and neutrons all add a danger to their systems depending on which one you have for a star and make that area harder to protect, forcing any star strategies one might have pretty much useless depending on what you get. Black Holes slowly damage ships, Pulsars disable abilities (I think), and Neutrons slow ships to a crawl. Regular star types still exist, but they are now much harder to have spawn in unless you are playing a custom map.

The anomalies are probably one of the few things this dlc has going for it. The 6 anomalies add a new level of strategy to games as most are rather benefical and can be found on practically any premade map.

Random events are the last thing this dlc brings to the table, luckily however, compared to the other additions, these can be manually turned off in the map setup. There are 11 events and can range from magnetic storms wreaking havoc on a planet to a global market crash in your empires economy; sometimes stars will shoot gases as well along with enemy empires supposedly "sensing" weakness in your planets. For the most part, they are all annoying and pretty much work against you as the game progresses. It is interesting, however, to use these in multiplayer games as you can use a few of them to your advantage against another player.

The question I know everyone is going to ask, is it worth the $5? Well..... Kinda. Like the forbidden worlds dlc, it adds interesting ideas to the mix to give some spice to your galaxy on one side of a coin. But on the other side, the dlc is rather poorly executed on how it delivers the content, more of it is just plain out annoying than it is fun and really does feel like it should have already been in the game to start with, particualry the random events and stars. I still recommend it as it is kinda interesting and the anomalies are rather helpful. I highly suggest to wait for a sale before buying it, you'd be much better off.

Overall, I give this dlc a 6/10, worth getting, just not worth $5.

With Sin's slightly lacking amount of diversity, a little DLC pack like this can really make the game seem a little more flavorful, though I only reccomend buying it during a sale.

It is worth buying if you want it. Try to catch it on 50% or the really rare 75% sale for the best value.
It adds a bit of content that breathes a little life into your games with storms and other items to ruin your and your enemy's days.

Something that will make it worth 100% worth it is if you use the Online features of Sins,
They have it setup so that the host shares his DLC with all player joined, an especially fantastic feature and I'm glad Stardock included this! Same applies to Forbidden worlds.

I would have troubles recommending this at full price but, in reality it adds some basic functionality that can move a locked up game. Useful for singleplayer especially.

7/10 a Useful DLC that breathes more life into your solar system but may not be worth it at full price.

Honestly a good little DLC for its prize. Worth it, adds a bit of flavor and the random events can cripple you. Probably won't really bother you in a game against AI but in games against players they can turn it around sometimes.

The added star types are mostly annoying to get stuck with and random events mostly means constant CME's to shut your orbital structures down.

It adds some new flavor to the game but it needs to have more dlc or even hints of sins 2.
