Set in a true open-world sandbox, Entropy is an ambitious entry into the era of community-driven projects, where players will help decide the game’s development direction, helping to build the definitive sci-fi MMO experience.

The Early Access release of Entropy sees us launch with a strong foundation of features, including incredible multiplayer space combat, where each instance can hold more than a hundred simultaneous players all battling for supremacy, and a player-driven trading system, where both trading stations and players will determine the state of the economy. Add to this, mining, salvaging and exploration (of over a hundred explorable systems), as well as a developing dynamic mission system, and you have a game with scale, ambition, and the desire to build a community who wish to develop the best experience possible.

We’ll be releasing updates approximately every week, with a major update being delivered roughly every month. As an Alpha build, there will be some bugs, and features that are being fleshed out further or are yet to be included, so bear that in mind. However, we want our community to be vocal, creative and passionate, so please get involved in the discussion on the Entropy Steam Community pages and help us create the definitive MMO experience.”

ゲームについて

Entropy is an open-universe science fiction MMO with a strong focus on freeform gameplay and large-scale space combat. Explore a hostile galaxy filled with over a hundred solar systems, each completely explorable, where you can hunt, trade, mine and salvage in order to survive. In Entropy, you can play the way you want, and take part in shaping a universe where you, the players, are in control.

Key features

  • Massively multiplayer Space Combat
Entropy finally delivers a true dogfighting experience in an MMO environment. Experience the thrill of skill-based combat set against a massively multiplayer arena, where up to a hundred simultaneous players per instance can fight for supremacy.

  • Dynamic Trade
Economics is the engine that drives the universe of Entropy, and a good knowledge of supply and demand can make you a fortune. Whether you play the market and trade between different stations, transporting goods across star systems crawling with pirates, mine rich asteroids or loot ancient relics, there are many routes to riches.

  • Customisation
A deep character development system allows you to customize yours skills and ship modules to be the best possible pilot in the role that you want to play. Offensive, defensive and passive abilities allow you to customise your approach to combat and survival. Add to this a deep avatar creator with infinite variations, and you have a game intent on making each player unique and specialised.

  • Exploration
Entropy already has 120 explorable star systems that can be interacted with on three different gameplay levels. The Galaxy map allows you to plot routes across the galaxy, through safe or hostile territory. The System map is where you travel between locations, hunt down players with valuable loot, and discover Sectors containing rich mining fields and ancient derelicts. These Sectors are the 3D levels in which the action will take place. Many sectors are permanent features of a system, but there are also dynamic Sectors that will only appear through persistent exploration.

Entropy is a true MMO - not just an arena shooter or a single-player game with added online functionality. You can interact with thousands of other players - some friendly, many hostile. Your actions will shape and influence the persistent universe.

Ultimately not worth the purchase price at this time.

While the game is still in Early Access, the core experience is lacking on entertainment value. All immersion is lost when you must travel through a 2D map and enter small variation-lacking instances to complete content akin to a lobby based game. Once you arrive at your destination, the missions, interface and controls leave you wondering why you made the trip in the first place. Due to a variety of issues, most notably the UI scaling issues, I was unable to play the game efficiently.

Pros:
Game Looks Good

Frequent Updates

Cons:
Missions are uninspiring and duplicated dozens of times

Controls feel VERY disjointed and laggy -- combat is not smooth at all

User Interface that is unintuitive and ugly (YMMV)

Higher resolutions (4k, surround/eyefinity setups) will be affected by user interface bugs that remove the functionality of target reticles making aiming nigh impossible

Frequent updates come with issues -- little bug testing often leads to performance issues

Cutscenes every time you dock, depart, travel...SPACEBAR SPACEBAR SPACEBAR SPACEBAR...

Grey area when it comes to "No character reset in early access, get ahead before launch " due to Alt-F4 trade exploits (Search for more information) -- If currency/items are wiped, it may not be worth paying to get an early "advantage" when more complete games are available for a lower cost

I recommend sticking to some of the non-MMO space simulators while you wait for this game to mature. Unfortunately, even with all of these cons fixed, the game still does not seem to offer anything over other titles.

Sadly I do not recommend this game, several reasons is it is not a true Space sim, more a combined 2D / 3D hybrid pseudo simulator. Which the screenshots do not reflect of what you are really seeing.

The game starts off great for an alpha, but then after looking at a 2D map for a majority of you time traveling around the universe you soon realize you are cheated a space sim, and are just given some 2004 recreated game with shiny 'orange' graphics. In short, its pirates of the 7 seas hosted in space with some small 3d shoot outs included. And when I mean small, I do mean small, combat is limited to short range dog fighting where I found myself sometimes bumping into the other ship. Not really dog fighting but more 'get as close and blast first' to win.

The devs did make progress with missions and cleaning things up, but what killed it was the devs have decided AGAINST making a 3d map/space instance of the game but having a 2d travel map (with ice skating) mixed with 3d instanced zones. This is a buzz kill as you lose a lot of tactics in 2d as there is no X Y Z and just a chess board field to skid on.

Since this news has been released I decided it’s not my cup of tea and have found other games more entertaining and worth value over this. I would strongly recommend looking at other games that are on the horizon over this game if you are looking for a real 3d space sim as I find this game will not become the space sim people are looking for.

-Edit- (May 20th), with the new update Entropy is finally working as it is supposed to on Mac OSX. I'll admit it took the team a bit longer than any of us liked to find the issue and fix it. But at least its done and over with and we mac users can finally get around to enjoying the game we payed for.
The 2D map is still around, but there are extensive talks going on about replacing it. So if that is your issue you may be in luck.
The down side is that the fix took so long to come out that the game has lost a number of players and a number of prospective players. So the fan base is lower than on most MMO's.
This is another situation where I wish Steam provided me with a third option other than just recommend or dont recommend. Because this game has potential. I have always said that and continue to say it. It has the right potential to become something really great. But it also has a lot of ground to cover to get there. So its hard to say. Read the other reviews, keep an open mind and remember that they fixed the OSX issues and some other connectivity issues as of yesterday.
-Edit- (April 6th)
I'm just going to keep updating my review here and as I do it I'll date the revisions so you the reader can see how things progressed and evolved.
Ok so as it turns out some of the more helpful people came around and made the game make much more sense. Now I'm not quite as confused as I was. And certainly not as frustrated as I was. (games are not supposed t make you frustrated lol they are supposed to get rid of tension not create it. Then again Im old.)
I guess as these games are sometimes things get heated and people get angry. And well if your a new player and thats the time you come in you can easily get the wrong impression. I will take back what I said before about people not being very helpful. Some are by and large, and they seem to take a genuine care over the game. At the same time there are some that are trying to become the "God of Entropy" before it even starts, but I guess you'll have that with these types of games. There still are plenty of issues and bugs and glitches and all that but I still stick by the fact that it is a great concept and idea.
-Edit- (April 4th)
I have to edit my review after having played for 3 days now I have gotten a better understanding of the game and the very broken balancing issues. Don't believe the crap about people being helpful on here, thats a flat out lie. I've even ran into the people who made those reviews talking about how helpful everyone is, and they weren't very helpful, too busy talking smack to help anybody. Secondly everything and everyone is on the same side except for a small group of people who have decided to be the rebellion. As it is I'm fairly neutral, don't know enough about any one side to say anything but from a production stand point, its not very balanced. I thought this was a new game however it turns out there are indeed people who have been here for months now and are already at godly levels.
So basically, if your wanting to run with the pack, kiss some kids butts, (I said kiss not kick, cause thats what seems to be happening a lot, a lot of trash talk or a lot of brown nosing), have to restart the game anytime you want to go anywhere. And if your wanting to basically struggle for anything if you go alone, or kiss a lot of butt and join up with the ruling class, then by all means get this. However, if any of those things irritate you, then wait and see if this gets better before you purchase. I spent the $99.00 as an investment into a game I thought was going to be fun, I kind of wish I could get a refund. If I had been able to play this for free for a short time before I invested I probably would have still gotten the game but only at the basic level not the higher tiers.
I won't say this will be the last Beta I invest in but I'm going to be much more cautious from now on.
-Original Review- (April 1st)
Ok yes there are issues, but the game is still in Alpha I think, not even Beta yet, so of course your going to find issues and bugs. Don't let the people getting all aggitated about the bugs disuade you. And yes some of these issues are indeed deal breakers, (I'm not going to lie), if your on a Mac as I am you'll currently have some loading issues that will cause you to have to Force quit the game. And in charcater creation picking a name is a pain, mainly because it just doesn't tell you if you picked a name that can't be accepted or is taken, and you will most likely have to back out and reload. However, these are all glitches and minor oversights that I have no doubt will be addressed. I can see that they update regularly, so you know that your investment is valid, (for those of us who have burned by "early access" and Kickstarter before.)
The controls will take you a moment to get used to, but once you do you'll be flying around in no time. I haven't talked a whole lot in chat, but from what I've seen people seem pretty helpful and understanding. Everyone is in the same boat trying to figure out how to even play so no one is trying to be the "God of Space" yet. XD. So if you do get this, unlike many MMO's don't be afraid to talk. People are more about helping each other and figuring out how to play, than they are attacking each other. (Tip; buy gas before you leave the station. and make sure you use that gas to refuel your ship otherwise you just carry it in your cargo to sell.)
Lastly I'll address the different levels of purchase your able to make. After careful consideration I decided I liked what I saw and liked what they were trying to accomplish. So I went ahead and bought the highest package. And I'm not sorry in the least. The bonus money is nice but it isn't so much that your going to dominate the universe with your starter million. The extra ship on the other hand is a game changer. You only get to pick one and you get the extra ship if you buy the middle or high end package, but it really helps out, not so much that you HAVE to have it, but enough that those that do have one of them will notice the difference. But the real thing that came in the package that sold me, was the 2 free passes I could give away to 2 friends. If you have a steam buddy who has a birthday coming up, or maybe your part of a larger gaming crew and want to bring in a couple of allies from the get go. Whatever your reason, playing with friends is always preferrable. Yet at the same time, buying the $99.00 package won't give you that huge of lead, so dont be afraid if you don't have that kind of money to just throw at a game. The ones that did won't have that big of an advantage over you.
So to sum up my review; Its a great game, with a great look and great concept. Yes there are issues, some are cosmetic, some things are just difficult to figure out, and there are some serious gameplay glitches. But, this is just the beginning, and so far they already have a great product that they are going to make fantastic. If dealing with bugs and issues with a Beta bothers you, then maybe you should wait a little while for these things ot get addressed. But I wouldn't pass the game up, just maybe wait. However, if your the type that likes playing in Beta's and helping to find bugs, glitches, issues, and the like, then come on in, the space is just fine.

I know this game is early access, and that there will be bugs and things that are not quite complete, and I accept that, so I am not going to mention anything involving bugs or glitches, and will instead focus on the playability and feeling of the game.

To be blunt, this game is an unplayable abomination.

The only good thing I can say about it, is whoever worked on the character creation did a good job, as for the rest of the game, not much good can be said.

When I first started, I chose to be a merchant, and went through the tutorial. As a merchant, you start off with a ship that handles like a brick that is drifting in space. All you get are a couple of crappy laser guns, and you are off, fighting enemies, selling vaccines, and doing stuff.

After a few missions, I found myself noticing how slow and long winded and just plain boring the game was, and found myself bored and frustrated.

The game is so boring, that I literally found myself rolling cigarettes and making sandwiches while I wated for my ship to fly from being in-view of a station to at the door of the station.

I decided to try another character, and this time went with a survival/combat guy. I was given a slightly faster ship, but it looked practically identical to the slow cargo ship I had been given as a merchant. Furthermore, while the top speed of the ship was slightly higher, it still handled like a brick drifting in space.

With the combat ship, I was given a few guns instead of the two lame lazers you get with the cargo ship, but for some reason, I could kill enemies easier with the lame lazers than with the big combat guns. For some reason, they just did not do as much damage.

It seems that whatever you start off as, merchant or fighter, you will have slow unresponsive controls. Also, you will go through the exact same tutorial.

I have not played much at the time of typing this, and I will be checking back in from time to time to see if things improve, and if they do, I will come back and edit this post, but for now, I can't even stand to load the game up and see it.

It is slow, boring, and frustrating. However, it is more than just that, the problems are much more fundamental and deep rooted.

Here are the negative things that I have noticed:

-It is not an open single world, it is divided up into instances that need to be loaded. I understand that space is big, and you can't have loads of solar systems all in one world, but they have not only divided it up by solar system, they have also divided it up by whatever is in each system. Instead of load a solar system and fly from 1 planet to another, you load a solar system, then load a planet, and if you fly too far away from the planet, asteroid belt, ship, or whatever else you are near, you will come to an orange floating grid, that if you go beyond, will take you back to the main menu for what part you want to load.

-Not only does the ship handle like a drifting brick, but the controls have been designed by a madman, because nothing is where you would expect it to be, and it just feels very uncomfortable and awkward to move.

-The loading menu, has been disguised as a 2D top view of your ship flying around the solar system. So instead of just choosing what instance you want to load, you have to fly there very slowly.

-You can fly directly through the sun or planets, and it does not blow you up or do anything to you, this does not seem like a bug either, it looks like its just how its going to be. When you are in the weird flying around slowly choosing what instance to load menu, you can't crash in to anything, suns, planets, ships, whatever, its all without mass.

-The user interface and writing are so small that you simply can't read it. I have this loaded on a large 32'' screen, and no matter what resolution I put it at, all the writing is about size 6px.

-It is too organge. From the logo to the UI, there is orange all over the place.

-There are giant chunks of information that are just missing, with most of the things being unexplained.

-The whole system is totally over complicated for the sake of being over complicated. For example, if you buy a new gun for your ship. First you have to buy the gun, then it will get moved to your warehouse menu. Once this happens, you can open your warehouse and then your ship cargo and drag it over, and once you have done that, you can drag it from your cargo to the slot you want to equip it on.

This means you can end up buying things to trade, only to spend ages slowly flying bored out of your mind to sell them for peanuts, just to discover you left them in your warehouse anyway, and have to fly all the way back again.

-A whole load more that I wont bother boring you with.

How anyone can have the guts to ask for money for this is beyond my understanding. I rather give the cash to a beggar on the street, and at least get the feeling of having helped someone in return.

Buying this game is like paying to be arrested so you can be made to wait for bail.

Overall, I give this one a 2/10 at best. Lets see if it improves with time.
