After playing this game for more or less 50 hours, I have come to these conclusions.

2K has done a TERRIBLE job on their PC port of NBA 2K14. Though I know this may not be the next-gen port, this game still does not meet my personal expectations and feels worse as compared to previous titles and years of the NBA2K franchise.

Over the course of my playing time, I have experienced many frustrating issues with the game. Here are some of the examples.
1. Player stats are not consistent. How is it that MyPlayer, who has maxed out his stats, miss a wide open 3-point shot with no defenders, with the shot feedback showing A+ on Shot Selection and Excellent on Release? I dont know either. This major issue happens too often that I have resorted to give up on shooting the ball, and drive it in instead.

2. Opponents are too over-powered. Though this may sound like I'm a ♥♥♥♥♥, or suck at the game, but this is a major issue that I've felt playing NBA 2K14. The opposing team seems to have stats that are not accurate to their real-life counter-parts. How is it that a CENTER is able to intercept my bounce pass when he is not quick enough to react to it? Do you really think every player is aware of a pass and is able to react to it quickly enough to steal it? I don't think so. I have experienced countless possessions that ended up in turnovers because of the over-powered oppenents.
Another stat issue is with the speed. Do you really think that a center can outrun me? A 6'8 SF with 90 speed? Yeah, of course he can! (sarcasm)
The stats in the game are not realistic, and it gives players abilities they do not possess.

3. There seems to be an issue with ball control. For some reason, MyPlayer, who has maxed out his dribble attributes, can't keep the ball in his hands without having to pass it to some other player. Even with my stats maxed, there seems to be a way for my opponents to take the ball for me. No wonder I average 4 turnovers a game.

4. Association mode is terrible. That's just to make it simple. There seems to be no way for me to get a good running team that has over 80% of team chemistry without making one of the players the STAR role that they want, even if they don't perform like a star. I had a bench player who averages 2ppg asking for a starting spot. Really now? Like that's going to happen.

5. Too many false goaltending calls! I'm so ♥♥♥♥ed that 2K has made the goaltending calls more sensitive. I have been called for goaltending, even though I know for a fact that it is a clean and legit block. DUMB ♥♥♥ REFS!

6. Online is ♥♥♥♥.

I sadly regret getting this game for its full-price of $29.99. This game shouldn't even be worth $5. Terrible job 2K, if only ya'll cared about the PC players, then maybe more people will buy it.

I would definitely NOT RECOMMEND this game.

I'm still going to play it though since it's the newest 2K title.

Hope I don't break my keyboard.

This game is a piece of ♥♥♥♥ please do not buy it.
It has no next gen features.
You are better off buying the PS4 or XBOX One. (which has a ton of new features that the pc version doesn't have)
DO NOT buy this game for PC.

I know; you're thinking "How can someone who has wasted so many hours on a game NOT recommend it?". Well, the NBA2K series is one of the better sport game titles, and I've put years into the series as it has progressed. But this really shouldn't be called NBA2K14, it is, to all intents and purposes, NBA2K13.1; just last year's game with a few bug fixes (and many more added), some roster updates and a few changes in modes. (for example) They didn't even bother replacing the value of the draft picks, you can trade a Bulls draft picks for teams who are poor/tanking, i.e; Jazz, Celtics or Lakers. This is certainly nothing like NBA2K14 on the Xbox One or PS4, not just graphically, but also game modes. They are all legacy; rehashed versions of last year's game.

Some of the commentary is new, a lot is recycled. Wierdly some of it (especially the My Career press conference answers) even reference previous game titles (going right back to NBA2K12!). But, by far the worst aspect of the game, the game servers are constantly offline. This is a problem on all formats, not just PC, if you look on metacritic you will see people on next-gen consoles having the same issue, the Steam forums are full of people (justifiably) complaining, as are the 2K forums and Twitter (where you just get told to open a ticket!). They are often down for days at a time. In fact, they are down more often than they are up.

You will start the game and day after day after day get the message that the game servers are down (then maybe they work for a day or two, rinse, repeat). This doesn't just affect online play, a lot of the game play is built around "today's" featured games, with real rosters (including injuries, and any trades that have taken place), especially the quick-start games, but even Association Mode or My Career will use the latest roster data from the 2K servers. If you can't get that data you are effectively using sqauds from months ago, without the trades having gone through, no changes in the team/player grades, no free-agent signings, etc.

This time last year there had been two patches to address the major bugs in NBA2K13. There hasn't been a single patch this year, and this game is riddilled with bugs, they have a dedicated thread on the 2K forums for PC bug reports, there are currently 187 reported problems, and not one patch to fix any of them. Some are major and will break game play (e.g., tuning on pre-draft workouts at the end of the season so you can assess rookie players in Assocation Mode. This will reset all of your game options, including ones you can't change without starting a brand new association mode game, not good as it auto-saves! Another example; asking for a trade in My Career, if you sim through to the next important game and get traded before the game occurs, you transfer to your new team, play through the first game and then it crashes to desktop at the end of the game, leaving you back at square one).

These are really the tip of the iceberg, there are hundreds of bugs (most minor to be fair, but they should still be patched!). It appears that many of the 2K staff are too busy trying to act out their ingame celebrity status in real life with real NBA players on Twitter, rather than actually bothering to fix the game. I think they are beginning to believe their own hype that they are hipster celebrities in the real world as well as on the ingame twitter feed. Maybe all of the focus has gone on the next-gen versions (which I've heard lots of bad things about! Looks nice though), whatever the reason; the PC version of this game has gone ignored by 2k. Lots of polite requests on twitter, email and the forum about when (or even IF) a patch is coming have been met with silence. It is unacceptable.

I would never suggest that people use a pirate copy, but being able to auto-patch and get live roster data are advantages exclusive to those of us who buy the game. Those of us who support game companies and devs, yet we are being ignored, treated like second class citizens (to the next-gen crowd) and being told that despite paying money, we have no entitlement to a working, up-to-date copy of the game we've paid for!

So yes, I have hundreds of hours of play time, and I will still continue to rack up hours, but I simply cannot recommend this game to other people. I think I would be doing many people (who aren't as obsessive as me) a disservice by doing so. The devs clearly don't care about the PC user base (or have chosen to prioritise next-gen users). I honestly find it disgusting, if this was any other game apart from NBA2K, and if I hadn't sunk in so many hours, I would have asked for a refund a long time ago!
