Amazing game. When it works. And it almost never works. Keeps crashing most of the times even before I'm finishing one lap.

Sad. Really... Sad.

Great game! Graphics are good, great fps and not bug issues. I play the game quite frequently on play single player and online. Only downside to online is the other players crashing and taking you out on purpose. With single player the step between med ai and hard ai is quite big! but that just means i need to get better at the game,

Vroom, vroom, fun game.

But, it keeps crashing after around 15 minutes, so I got to be sure to save each race. Pretty annoying, but still a great game.

Although this game would score high on graphics, AI and racing feel, I can't recommend it due to it quitting to windows after 10-15 mins play. It's a common problem to many users on Win10, but Codemasters has failed to even speak on the subject, much less address it! Bad codies! Bad, bad codies!

One of the BEST driving games currently available

GRID Autosport is an excellent arcade racer with superb vehicle handling, an intuitive and very responsive fun racer from Touring Cars to Open Wheel, there's something to please everyone. Also includes drifting, vehicle customisation, tuning unlocks... lots of fun.

Single Player mode is a bit boring.
but online Multiplayer.
OH yes, that's where the action is :))

Pretty fun racing game!

I expected it to be more realistic when it comes to car handling, but it is in fact quite arcady and a bit loose. I am playing with a Xbox controller and the controls are not super responsive and direct when it comes to the steering with the L joystick, but it's acceptable. You might need to get used to it a bit in the beginning, after that it's fine.

The game has a ton of cups and challenges to keep you busy for many many hours (enough content). Even with the arcady feel it is actually quite chalenging to drive against the AI! So far as I have played the amount of different tracks is quite low, I played for 7 hours and only driven half a dozen different tracks (and reversed), also the amount of different cars and classes is quite low.

One really noticable quality gap in the game is the cockpit view. It is really low detailed in most/all cars and they made the cockpit on the lower part of your screen blurry to camouflage it. It is extra noticable, because basically everything else in the game is pretty solid and good quality.

As for realism I think this game falls far below the racing sims on the market. Even Gran Turismo feels more real (direct/responsive) when it comes to car handling, but the AI in GRID is way more fun to race against and the races are more custimizable then in Gran Turismo. I also don't think that this game tries or was intended to be a realistic racing sim, but an enjoyable not over complicated racing experience. And that it does quite well.

Overall I think this is a pretty solid and fun racing game and worthy to pick up during a sale.

Havent played it much and i have no reason to, as after playing the first few events it felt like playing a arcade racer from 10 years ago. If you like the new "need for speed" games then you may like it. Other than the drifting which is sort of fun the rest is below average arcade racer and best. Unless you can get for less than £5 dont bother.

Pretty mediocre game all around, and a lot of the racing feels tedious and unengaging. The "Endurance" series is required if you want to progress in the game, and in that series tire wear is simulated, which is great, except the tires wear super fast, and the wear doesn't seem to affect the AI. Handling in other series' is dull, with the exception of the open wheel championships, which are probably the only series actually worth playing.

I would only recommend buying this if the price is $5 or less.

Its not a bad game. But is not what you are looking for probably. This isn't your arcade racing game where you can buy cars and race. If you were looking for something like gran turismo, or need for speed without being open world and requiring actual skill, DONT BUY THIS. This isn't the usual racing game where you buy a car, you race with said car, get money, get a better car and rinse repeat. In this game you have teams where you get a bot (A.K.A "teammate") assigned to you and you have to compete as a team. A bot that is going to ruin your fun because he sucks and knocks you ot of the race or things like that.

As said, this isn't a bad game neccesairly, but its THE grid experince, NOT a racing experience.

Sidenotes:
-bots have an insane grip on the asphalt, you can't make them spin out, they will only spin out when they want to spin out

-multiplayer is basically dead

-multiplayer is severly unfair when there are only a few hundred players online because your cars gain xp and you unlock upgrades and tuning options for your car via that. Bear in mind, every car has its own xp bar, each starting from zero

-there are a ton of cars ingame, but there are disciplines and categories, you can't use every car everywhere. 1 car is only usable in 1 category in 1 discipline. So that means its really easy to find a match where you can't use the car you just bought.

-in singleplayer you dont have a garage. your team gives you the cars you have to race with and the tuning options and upgrades depend on said team.

As stated, its not a bad game, its just probably not what you're looking for, unless you are looking for grid autosport specifically. Dont be surprised when this game disappoints you because you didn't expect this. Just like me, i asked on the forums if this is what im looking for, nobody gave an answer that had anything to do with my question.

By far the best value in PC Arcade racers today. While games like Assetto Corsa and Project Cars concentrate on realizm and driving simulator game play, Grid Autosport balances nicely between Arcade and Sim racers. Course designs are easily familiar to the real world courses and course diversity is average. Custom Skins and the abilty to make groups is great but the online multiplayer sessions can be a bit confusing at times when you are trying to meet up with a buddy due in part to the cumbersome RaceNet interface which differs from regular online play. The stoyline, while lengthy and appears to be full of diverse content, ultimately forces a driver to be all things to all forms of racing, which si not something that actually happens in the racing world. Graphics are 9/10, Audio is 9/10, Controls support 9/10 and content 8/10 (just because I am not into all the tuner and drift stuff). Overall I rate the game 85-90 out of 100 in total game ranking & is worth the on sale price.

I'm playing this on Linux with a GTX 660 and the NVIDIA drivers. I'm usually not much of a racing guy, but I'm quite enjoying this game.

Pros

  • No crashes or hiccups
  • Runs at 60 FPS Minimum on high settings at 1080p
  • Nice visuals and sounds, pretty UI, extensive options menu
  • Picked up my DualShock 4 controller right away without me doing anything
  • Currently the best racing game on Linux (there's really not that many)
  • Variety of tracks, modes and cars
  • Detailed difficulty settings, making it easy for players of all backgrounds to quickly feel at home
  • Detailed visual customization of cars in multiplayer

Neutral

  • If you're using a less popular controller, the game won't save your controls. You can create a keymap with
    controllermap
and paste it into this file:
    GRID Autosport/share/controllermapping.txt

Cons

  • Absolutely zero customization of your cars in singleplayer
  • Razer and Monster Energy advertisement plastered over cars and along tracks.

Looking forward to more Linux ports of this publisher's games! DiRT Rally please?

So, after I bought this game for about 6 dollars on *steam censorship*.com, I thought about making a review about this.

So, how does it drive?

Actually, better than I thought. I expected some kind of GRID 2-ish handling, but it drives way more like DiRT 3 with more grip and only on ashpalt. Although it is pretty much realism-trimmed, It´s still very fun to drive, especially the Street Cars.
And if you´re looking for the most realistic game of the GRID franchise, here you go.
The Drift Races still suck tho.

Content?

Yes.

How much?

Very much. Most tracks are taken from GRID/GRID 2, but all of them are redone. San Francisco looks way better now. But of course there are multiple new tracks, a few city tracks and race tracks like Hockenheimring and Red Bull Ring (I think, read that somewhere)
There is a huge range of cars, everything from numerous kinds of street cars, over classic japanese tuners, muscles and even damn racing trucks, to formula/indycars and touring cars.

Grafficks?

They exist. And it looks awesome for a game on an engine from 2006. And the difference in graphics between DiRT and GRID Autosport is like the difference between Battlefield BC and Battlefield 4.

ayy lmao, dis no sim racur, dis no hev weel optiuns.

You´re right, except you´re wrong. Codie´s fixed that in the meanwhile and if you got a Force Feedback Wheel, please try this, this is so much fun with a FFB Wheel.

Multiplayer?

Exists too. Haven´t tried it yet though.

Overpriced?

Actually not at all. GRID 2 is overpriced, I won´t pay 30 bucks for Tokyo Drift Simulator. But for the content this is actually wellpriced. Wouldn´t buy the DLCs though, not a fan of them anyway.

Cockpit view?

Yeeeeahhh-no. Something weird. You have a Dashcam and a normal Cockpit Cam, but the dash in Cockpit Cam is all blurred out for you, so you can´t see that Codemasters didn´t put an HQ Cockpit in your car or even the dials don´t work.

Story?

noone cares m8

The End?

Yes. Overall this is a Wellpriced, good looking, well drivable Racing Simulator. Get it. And if you´re a ch33ky ♥♥♥ n199a like me who doesn´t want to pay 40 bucks for a game, get it on *steam censorship* or *steam censorship* for way less money. Whatever it costs below 40 bucks, it´s worth it. Get it. NOW!

A great race simulator, smooth with the xbox 360 controller and perfect with a good steering wheel.
The only problem i found is that we can't see nothing on the interior of the car, nor like the classic Grid, but other than that i recomend it.
