One of the most boring games I have ever played. And more or less no challenge at all. I have finished most of the original campaign and were watching movies in TV at the same time... Luckily, I got this in a bundle, else I would have felt riped off... Even if this was on a mobile phone it would have been a bad game.

I liked some of the battles and skirmishes, but 50% of the time it was mostly annoying and I think it's broken, the deathwing terminator DLC didn't work, I spent most of the 36 hours on record reinstalling the game, the DLC and playing the campain from start a few times but the Terminators never showed up, multiplayer didn't work, the 1 achivement didn't unlock, the orks had unlimited resources, the space marine equipment upgrades were basically useless, space marine and even the special units like the dreadnought and the ravenwing bike were too weak...

Want to change the colour of a unit? You'll need to give us more money for that. Want to play the exact same missions with another race? You'll need to give us more money for that. Want to play with all the units for one of the races you start with? You'll need to give us more money for that. And so on…

Get it on sale
Dreadnoughts are kinda lame in this game despite "bullets deflecting off their thick armor" but that's a minor complaint.

Repetetive yes, but reminds me a lot of a fun old flash game that had a very similar gameplay involving building a handful of structures and then those structures produce your units via automation then those units are sent down various lanes when you drop their production card into the lane, the advantage of the other game were the long levels and unit upgrades during levels and ONE large lane with a variety of vehicle types.

For $3 meh, on sale it's an acceptable if only a minor distraction.

Honestly it isnt that bad. Quite a good "mini"-game like u would expect for a tablet or smartphone. Its relatively simpel, easy to learn and provides fun for some hours. Absolutely fair for that price.

Warhammer 40,000: Storm of Vengeance is not an original game. That we all know already.
It's not even a strategic game like most of the Warhammer 40k titles.
But it's satisfying enough to guarantee some hours of fun, provided you're not installing this expecting something else.
I'm giving it a positive because there isn't a so-so recommendation.

crimes against warhammer title

The title says it all.
It´s needless to say that the fact that this "company" is still trying to sell games to the warhammer fandom an thinks the title is enough to sell a piece of ♥♥♥♥ in nice wrappers is a crime.
To fans of the warhammer games.
To the expectations which are not met in any way.
To the reputation of the series itself.
As a Warhammer fan of decades I really could only puke on what is wrought here.
But all in all one wishes really just a Exterminatus for Games Workshop.
The games production industries would do well to rather release a few less games, and concentrate on making games worth being called a game at all, which warhammer 40k: Storm of Vengeance is not! A rat may eat well whatever is always in the trash. But it doesn´t take too much to destroy a good selling brand as many won´t take that trash without consequently saying goodbye to any new warhammer release because they expect it to be no better than this crap.
I hope I won´t see this day though, I would like to see another great game of the series I loved since childhood.

For those who are not accustomed with the series and haven´t got any expectations this game may well work whereaes to me as a die hard fan it is unbearable.

This game is bad in parts but I had some fun playing it.

Typical lane defense game AKA that genre born from 'Plants vs Zombies'.
This game is bad, which is a harsh thing to say since its jut a reskin of another game, Samurai Dogs vs Ninja Cats which in itself is an okay game, so what went wrong?

These lane games thrive on 2 things. A challenging AI and good multiplayer support. If they don't get those right the game is dead on arrival, guess what this game is?

Its a bad game for sure but its just bad. Its not terrible its just a blatant cash grab with no effort made and no soul to the game. Samurai Dogs is actually fun to play at times but is sadly mobile only.

I think overall this game got a bad reputation and a mass denounciation train started. The scores are exaggeratedly low and calling this game crap seems to be the norm, similar to how E.T. was a "terrible" game, when it was really just dull and boring. At least effort was made for E.T. whereas this reskin feels lazy at numerous points and parts.

If you have a mobile gaming platform then check out Samurai Dogs vs Ninja Cats. This game even on sale seems to seldom work correctly and match making is broken and has been abandoned by the devs so its a single player game for all intents and purposes.
It doesn't live up to the hype about how "terrible" it is which is actually disappointing since that makes it even more forgetable.

In many ways this is a fun and engaging game, but it has some fatal flaws.

First and foremost, it does not always register your clicks. In some games this would just be an annoyance but in this game it's much more. A number of actions in this game take multiple focused clicks to work and they are in real time. For instance, to throw a grenade you first have to click on the unit with the grenade and then click on where to throw it. The problem is that when you click to throw it if you click on an invalid area (and for abilities that focus on another unit 99% of the screen is an invalid area) then the original action is unselected and you have to start this multi-part action all over. Add to this how often you click right on another unit and it doesn’t register and this is hugely frustrating. Mind you, this is real time so missing an action can easily cost you a round.

The other large annoyances are have no indication of when a special action is available, meaning you have to constantly flip to another screen to check it, and that units you control are notably weaker than the same units when the AI controls them (which says to me they couldn’t get the AI to work well so they weakened the player’s units to compensate).
This game has real potential and I kept going back to it to see if I could find a way to make it work. Ultimately, however, it became so frustrating I removed it completely from my computer.

The thing with buying this is to remember what the game is, a lane starategy. Many people have not reccommended this because of it's original price around £5.99 but now the price has dropped to £1,99 it is kind of worth it. I say kind of because if you are a massive fan of GW and their IP like me then you probably will enjoy it,The story and dialogue is good. it's 3D unlike other/most lane strategies each faction plays differently and the fundamentals of the game are quite good. This is my first and probably only lane strategy I've played so I wouldn't know how to compare it to the others out there, I personally haven't had any issues at all with the game but others have.

1st off I'm not into the Warhammer storyline. The game itself has excellent strategy that's not overwhelming. Multiplayer with a friend works great. Multiplayer with random people does not work as advertised. The campaign is ok but they really need to get the multiplayer fixed.

THIS IS ABSOLUTELY NOTHING LIKE 'PLANTS VS ZOMBIES' !!!

Don't bother unless your going to play this on your tablet, and even then, don't bother. I love 40K and Games Workshop, so take notice when I say, don't bother. Played through 20 missions in an hour. No challenge at all, once you figure out the formula it's a no brainer. Missions were lasting at most 1:57.

Horribly cheap, Plants vs Zombie-like lane game, its a decent past time game but with hundreds of free flash games out there just like this, the lack of depth and progression system, mixed with the fact that they wasted the 40k license on this games makes me feel disgusting that they did this instead of giving the license out to a studio that actually wants to make a game.

I would imagine myself playing this on a pad or smart phone, if only to get more Dark Angels story but honestly, don't get this, save your money and either buy models, a 40k novel or anything but this. This is by far the worst 40k video game. And as a Dark Angels player this makes me sad as hell, to see them dishonor their own game like this.

When I heard Lane-strategy I thought it was going to be a dota-clone and that actually would have been this, but this game does provide decent voice acting, though they didn't bother to voice act the majority of the dialgoe that's in plain text, the game feel like a Facebook game and its not worth the price their asking for, had this been anything else than 40k, I would have been surprised, but Games Workshop at its finest, is yet again trying to squeeze money out a rock.

Terrible! A poor tower-defence which is cashing in on the 40k universe. I've tried to give it a few goes (4 hours) but frankly it's just hard to even like. Even the 'puzzle' style levels rely on luck with the RND as well as knowing the right strategy. A true regret purchase, the fact I own bad rats (don't ask!) is the only thing stopping this taking the title of 'worst game I own'.

Warhammer 40k Storm of Vengeance is a lane defence strategy game developed by Eutechnyx. Eutechnyx themselves were originally founded in 1987 and their previous titles include The Fast & the Furious: Tokyo Drift, Big Mutha Truckers, NASCAR and did I mention Ride to Hell: Retribution.

The general premise of each battle is simple. Send units to destroy the buildings on the enemies side. Once you have destroyed the buildings you capture the lane. To win a battle capture 3 lanes while making sure the enemy doesn't destroy yours. Each unit and building costs redemption points to produce. Buildings like communication relays build up your redemption points over time. So the idea is to have some redemption production buildings and some unit producing buildings at any one time. There is also the resolve resource, through the skill tree you can unlock special units which cost resolve to field. Resolve is accumulated by turning one of the unit production building into a resolve production building, which halts unit production. While the game may claim to have strategy in reality there’s little to be had, once you grasp the mechanics and limited upgrade system, you can easily win battles without having to put any kind of concentration in what so ever.

In between battles there is a progression system where by you can unlock new units, upgrades and special abilites that use the redemption resource. The progression system is very simplistic and there is no real meat to get your teeth into here, its a very straight forward system that offers little to be excited at. You end up playing the game on fast speed because there's no real reason to watch everything at normal speed, I don't want to see the same battlefield background and same kill animation over and over.

The major issue I have with Storm of Vengeance is that it is lazy and not just lazy, it's lazy to the extreme. Storm of Vengeance's mechanics are an exact and I mean exact replica of Eutechnyx's previous mobile title ninja cats versus samurai dogs. The only major difference between the two titles is that storm of vengeance has slapped some 3D models in there and covered itself with a Warhammer 40k skin.

Storm of Vengeance's story follows the events of the Dark Angels defence of Piscina IV against the green skin tide of the orks. While the story is interesting and is in cannon, it again feels lazy with no effort to make it even slightly entertaining, I mean hell, you didn't build the mechanics from the ground up so why not put in some effort into voice acting or something to make it enjoyable, it just looks and feels poorly executed.

Just because you slap a 40k skin on something doesn't make it codex astartes material. The game lacks any resemblance to a real Warhammer 40k experience and because of this it feels like a blatant licensed cash in. This game could literally be anything, you could place any franchise skin over this game and it would be the exact same.

Now putting the repetitive mechanics and lack of actual strategy aside for one moment, there was also a wee bit of controversy that needs to be discussed. When Storm of Vengeance originally hit steam, I like many thought it was the actual release. Then under closer inspection, the title had beta written at the end. Oh, so it's an early access game I thought, nope. So wait you ask, your saying they just released on steam with beta tagged on the end of the title? Yes pretty much, I couldn't believe it. The first thing I couldn't believe is that Steam allowed that to even happen, if a game is not complete it goes through the early access program, full stop. Second, you cannot just throw beta on your title and expect that to save you from criticism. Even worse the developers at first said there wasn't time for the game to go under early access, which as we know is now utter bull ♥♥♥♥ since since a backlash they quickly went to hide under early access. That kind of thing is seriously dodgy stuff, as a developer you should know not to pull that kind of ♥♥♥♥ and you should definitely know that if you do, your going to get called out on it.

Anyway back to the actual game. The thing is with Storm of Vengeance is that its fun for about 10 minutes and then after that it's not. It's a shallow mobile title and that is exactly what is should only be, a mobile title. This is not a core gaming experience that fans of the franchise want, what it is however is something to pass the time on the train to work. Look at it this way On Steam Storm of Vengeance costs £6.99. On iOS and Android it costs £2.99, for the exact same game. So if you want to get it, but it on your mobile device and use it as a superficial time passer.

For a warhammer game, there isnt alot of war going on. Its one unit at a time, or a couple and thats it. If the menu was the game a controller would be useful since that is the only place where the controller works, way to go Eutechnyx. The name of the studio who made this tablet port garbage is Eutechnyx. Try saying it.... "Eutechnyx". Ugh, it sounds like that noise cat's make when their coughing up a hairball, or that garbled sound right before you puke after a few too many on a night out. That puke on the floor is this game, its a game vomited onto steam with no connection to the warhammer universe or any of the fun. After about ten minutes you will want to trigger your own gag reflex to get rid of this game. The space marines are puke green, and the orks are puke green, with its brown poo covered background it makes for a work of art made of poo and puke. Why did the dev stop there? Why not just call it a day by adding festering maggots to the mix or whatever else is gross that makes you wanna throw up.

This game is a perfect metaphor for being drunk. Met some person at a bar or in this case a game, looked pretty awesome, then ya woke up and realized what a bad decision it was to get this game. Theres not enough alcohol in the universe to make this game any good, getting alcohol poisoning then having your stomach pumped is the equivalent of this game.

This game deserves an orbital bombardment of cyclone torpedos from an orbital platform performing the rites of the exterminatus!!!

I actually managed to play through this game, in its Beta state, simply to say that I did it. It managed to be quite dull, unimaginative, and repetitive as each mission required you to place buildings which will build units that you then assign to lanes to attack enemy structures. This wouldn't be so bad if the game weren't so ponderously paced and there were more than 2 useful units. I didn't use assault marines at all throughout the campaign. Also, a good number of the upgrades for your units are essentially useless, and trying to put more than one upgrade on a marine at a time is tantamount to a death sentence because of how drastically it increases their build times.

My overall impressions of this game are very poor. I understand that it's still in beta and there will be tweaks, but all in all I don't have any faith that this project will improve enough to make me want to play it again. It's dull, and not even the beloved Warhammer 40k license can change that. If anything, I'm disappointed that it's a 40k game. If it weren't, I probably wouldn't have even given this game the benefit of the doubt and saved myself $10.

DO NOT BUY THIS GAME

At first, the gameplay seems... Tolerable, but they repeat the same thing, over and over, Becoming more and more repetitive, more and more like a chore to play, Claiming to be a "Strategy game" When the Only strategy involved is on the same level of Plants Vs Zombies!
