Update launch date confirmed

To confirm the update now has a confirmed launch date, (yey!) next wednesday 5th November, this is due to a number of bug fixes highlighted from our kind beta testers and a fix for the spectator bug online that has been brought to our attention via the Steam community, where you would play online and be unable to take a shot - this is fixed in this update (or so it seems) but this did cause a few other issues that need vigorous testing.

We would not like to send it live tomorrow before the weekend, when the office is unmanned, we want to be on hand to support the update, should anything need our attention, so I hope you will all join us for a game on Wednesday :)

Those who want to get help beta test over the weekend please do get in touch the more the merrier - we really appreciate all your help.

Thanks again and Happy Halloween

“Yes, it’s a pool game, and you could argue that there’s not much more to say beyond that. But pool is a rare sight on the PC, unless it’s of the top-down Flash variety, and this is a bloody good example of the form. ‘Hole in one’, as they say at the Crucible.”
ROCK, PAPER, SHOTGUN

““In fact it could be the shiniest game to ever grace a console. Now as Pool Nation nears its North American debut, Cherry Pop Games shows that this is anything but a port to another console but rather an upgraded version that took everything that made the 360 version great and added even more.”

““It’s easy to suggest that Pool Nation is the finest example of virtual pool... but to do CherryPop Games’ work justice it must be said that they have delivered what is in fact one of the best pool videogames ever to grace a console.””

If you are looking for a super realistic pool game, you are in the right place.

10/10 Physics
10/10 Display
10/10 Music
10/10 Game modes

Online match system is just super good, but sadly you rarely see people playing.

the only problem is that the table has a high friction, if you are a real-life pool player, you would expect balls to go a little bit further but they don't.

Pool Nation is one of my favorite games on Steam. The solid gameplay and controls were not enough for Cherry Pop Games, they went ahead and added some beautiful locations each offered during day, sunset, and neon lit night time. The amazing soundtrack gets you in the mood whether you want to relax or get pumped. The game modes for single player include 3ball, 8ball, 9ball, endurance, golf, killer, rotation, speed, and straight. In addition, you can play online versus friends in a friendly match or choose to be competitive in tournament mode. The most recent update includes "box of tricks" free of charge, allowing you to create a custom trick shot that you can share with the world. This game is the complete package.

“8-Ball - Corner Pocket”

‘Pool Nation’ is a fun, polished Billiards simulator and a bargain at its $1 pricetag (Steam Fall Sale 2014). Released as the maiden offering from Cherry Pop Games, it’s gorgeous visuals, multiple game modes, lengthy campaign and lots of unlockables will keep Pool fans coming back for more.

Campaign | Gameplay: Gamers have the choice of playing standard 8-ball or variations like 9-ball, Rotation, Endurance, Sudden Death etc across a variety of visually stunning locations / pool halls. A lengthy campaign mode (against AI opponents) allows you to perfect your game and strive toward numerous unlockables including new locations, pool table decals, new ball styles and cue styles. Additionally, the online mode allows you to match up with friends or other online players in single matches, Tournaments or King of the Hill events. Multiple difficulty levels (from Novice to Pro), a spot on physics engine, responsive controls, and a great soundtrack make this the best Pool game to date.

Flaws: In considering its biggest issues – 1. Game Stability is poor (Tabbing to windows results in an insta-crash) and 2. Online Gaming is largely dead (Bring your own friends). Additionally, the developers have pushed the previously promised ‘Trick Shot’ mode to the next release, and the lack of Co-op play is disappointing as well.

Overall, ‘Pool Nation’ is the best conception of a Billiards game to date and fans of the real game will find this a fun, polished distraction. But, even ardent fans soon realize that Pool without the smoky basement rooms, uneven cues, pitchers of beer, chatty girls, side-bets and bar-room trash talk, is a somewhat hollow experience. Recommended on Sale (Best played with Friends) - Rated (7/10)

A fantastic pool simulator. Frustratingly accurate! Turn off the assists for a proper experience but I warn you... It is frustratingly addictive. The A.I opponents will make quick work of you for making small errors in the later tournaments but it certainly isn't unfair. Just like real pool sometimes you will let your shot go & know you have messed up as soon as the cue touches the whiteball.

This is, without a doubt, the only pool game on steam. That's okay, because if there were others they'd just be copying what Pool Nation's doing here. Spot on physics, more game modes than you've probably ever thought of and the prettiest, most polished balls since the time I got banned from the Bowling Alley.

94/100. Only cons are that the menus can be a pain to navigate and there's no snooker.

Pool Nation is a suprisingly good game. However annoying and cliche the music is it surpasses quite alot of the ♥♥♥♥ on steam. The gameplay works well. Physics are very good and accurate. Visually it is amazing and is an all round enjoyable game. You can play with a friend and having a nice game of pool. Are take a tournament by storm and listen to some tunes while your at it. I never thought I would buy a pool game but for £1.04 it was so worth it. It is definetely worth even £7. I recommend giving this game a go. Although it may not be a game you spend hours upon hours playing it is for sure a game worth getting. It is on the top shelf of my game cupboard not in the back rotting with the humble bundle games I say I'll get round to play but never do.
I r8 8/8 m8.

Pool Nation is one of the most polished indie games of 2013- the animations are shiny and smooth, the gameplay is responsive and the physics are realistic. You won't find yourself screaming at this game for bouncing your balls in the wrong direction, or glitching out and dropping your cue ball through the table. With eleven game modes including tournaments, online play, and single-player endurance mode; as well as a slew of collectables to unlock, Pool Nation has no shortage of goodies to keep gameplay fresh.

The single player component revolves primarily around tournaments where you take on AI challengers of ever increasing difficulty. Each match has an associated list of challenges, and completing them unlocks a variety of cosmetic changes like cues and balls. Standard games like 9 ball are present along with more interesting options like Golf, which challenges you to put specific balls into specific pockets. There’s also a time attack style mode, where balls spawn on the table and you have to sink as many as possible in the time limit. There are Free Play, Versus, and Online modes present too, but I had a hard time finding anyone to challenge online.

Pool Nation is a great looking game that features bright and shiny graphics that makes each game, literally, feel new and different. There are some good themes on the game's soundtrack, and though the game's controls look difficult to use, they aren't difficult to learn. There are also options that can be easily turned on or off to give players assists in a game including arrows that point at the next balls that need to be hit or arrows that show where a ball will travel when hit. All of these features combine to make an excellent presentation for Pool Nation.

But is it fun? In short stints I definitely enjoyed playing the game, but it isn’t the type of thing I’d want to play for hours at a time. Having said that, I think Pool Nation is the kind of experience that would be a hit at a house party. If you’ve been searching far and wide for a Billiards simulator, and don’t have room for an actual table, Pool Nation is probably the solution. The physics are solid, the controls allow for extreme fine tuning of shots, and everything looks super shiny. A few more game types would be welcome, but for $10 Pool Nation is the gold standard in the category.

I like playing pool in real life so I had to try this. This game is very good! Physic work likes it should and it is also visually pleasing. Music suits your pool playing needs. I tried this during free weekend when two other games was also available to play so I did not have time to play this as much as I would have liked to. Hope I will get back to this when it is again free or when in very good sale!

Let me just preface this review by saying I rarely ever play pool in the real world. Pool nation is easily one of the most fun games available for its price on steam, with lots of replay value but also just because its a really good game to just play a couple of matches of to wind down.

+Great graphics
+Easy to learn controls
+Several game modes and several tournaments
+Good point system
+AI become more challening as you progress through tournaments
+Good tutorial
+Some interesting characters

+/-No consequences for losing matches in tournaments

-New balls, cues, decals etc. are only unlocked by participating in minigames for which there are no instructions
-Only a handful of different locations
-The Workshop is only used to share trickshot clips
-An issue where the cursor is visible in the game has gone unfixed for 3 months despite the devs knowing about it, the game is pretty difficult to play with a visible mouse cursor so my rating has decreased until it is fixed (if ever)

The Verdict:
6

A solid game which is great for a bit of fun when you need it to be.

I love play pool games, and with this one is not diferent
many game modes and good musics
you can go to the training, watch all your moves with the hint system
or just turn off the hint system and play It just like the original pool table
but warning is not the hint system in the options menu, it hint system before start the match
ok you ready to go, see some hints

o = top down view, oldschool but control the cue is not that easy in this camera
v = camera view is great to look around
f = focus It just like fps crosshair very cool
qe = special for jump the ball or go back
82465 = hit uper, down, left and right in white ball, good for changing white balls destination, and 5 go to center
left click = ok this is a problem for old pool gamers, you actually click and simulate a cue power going back and foward I see that before, but is very hard to understand how it works

9/10

Pool Nation delivers a solid billiards simulation experience. It makes the grade in the areas critical to this type of game: the physics are sound, the shot-making is clean, and there's enough variety in the game types to keep things fresh for a while. On top of that, the game is downright beautiful.

There are some flaws, but nothing game-breaking. The most glaring (for me, anyway) was that the game feels literally empty. When shooting, you're shooting in a seemingly deserted hall. There's no crowd, no opponent squirming in the chair as you knock the balls down. Speaking of your opponents, while their descriptions are modestly humorous, there's little to differentiate them from one to the next. At times it feels a bit sterile. Again, this isn't really game-breaking. But part of the allure of playing at the bar or hall is the atmosphere, and the game is lacking in that regard.

All in all, though, the plusses outweigh the minuses. If you're a billiards enthusiast, this game is just about value for money at full price and a bargain if you can pick it up on sale.

The sound and music is perfect and 100% matching the game itsself
Breathtaking and simplistic stages to the point i didnt want my turn to come.Just wanted to watch
Gameplay is as to be expected 2 axis controls and a power meter with some game modes
Slow mo cams for those OOOOOOOOOOO moments
Shiny and polished like a new car
Text and voice chat...Read below!
Sensitivity lock so you can get that lazer precision without moving you mouse ultra slow
Has practice mode to memorize yourself with physics without pressure to win
Many stages/sticks
Ranked and non ranked matchs

About text chat! When someone sends you text it will be displayed for a very short time and you may miss it.To view or write text you need to open the chat box and when the chat box is open you cant do anything else. There should be a mode to keep text given by the other player from fading or a longer fading time

Other then low population this game MAY have i do reccomend this game to hardcore and casual

This is a pool game that if you run thru the totorals you will find is equal to Jennet Lee Pool 3d. In many ways it's better with the rewards that are only visual but are impressive none the less. It has all the things other pool games lack like jumps, curves and so on. I paid under $5 for it and knowing now would have paid more!

If you are a billiards fan this is a game for you.

Yeah, duh, right?

Well it's got challenges to matches, a single player progression, multiplayer, and more.

I could go on and on but this game is well worth the money. I lucked out and got it on sale, so keep your eyes open for one before you buy it at full price, but imo it's still worth it.

Oh it is pretty much designed to be played with a controller, but you can play with the mouse and keyboard too.
