Why Early Access?

“Feedback from the community is paramount to us! As a tiny Indie team, we haven't got the manpower or resources to make mistakes, and guidance from our fans helps keep us on track!”

Approximately how long will this game be in Early Access?

“We're hoping to be out of Early Access by the end of 2014.”

“It'll be polished, feature-complete and bug-free!*

*maynotbebugfree”

AT THE POINT OF WRITING THIS THE GAME IS IN EARLY ACCESS ~6/16/2015~

This game looks and seems like it could have a lot of potential but in the current state that it is in I cannot and will not recommend this game. There is pretty much little to no content that really keeps it worth while in the current state. I played 1.2 hours of this in survival mode and pretty much just gave up on it because, for one the content that is in survival mode is little to none other then just ore automation and two once you get it all up and running there is nothing to use your precious ores that you have collected and you just feel like you have wasted time. The upgrades in the game are all still in development so you cant really upgrade anything either so you don't really win at all.

One huge mistake is they went upon development backwards in my opinion! They started the game out as multiplayer and did single player as a add on when they should have focused upon single player which would provide more things to do. Without a good single player core how do you expect to have a good multiplayer? It doesn't really make sense at all to me at least... Which makes me kind of sad cause this game looks like it has a lot of potential but in the current form I really just cant say too much good about it.

Please Dev's don't give up on this game because of all the hate! Just keep working at it :) If the game gets to a more playable and enjoyable state I will change this review! What we need is more things to craft, upgrade, and just simply do more then building a red and blue house with our buddies. If we really wanted to do that we would get together and get out the old legos from our shelf!

So overall I wouldn't recommend buying this at the current state simply not enough content and things to do!

So, i'm about 60 hours in and i must say, i recommend this game.

Fortresscraft Evolved is an early access game, and as such it has it's kinks (not that many though), but the content so far is great, and over the past few weeks that i have owned the game, i have seen a lot of development activity and content added.

I also think the developers show great transparancy, through detailed patch notes and the ability from the player side to choose what build you want to run, as in you can choose to run the stable version, beta version or bleeding edge if you want to be up to date with the newest of the new developments.

So yeah, Fortresscraft Evolved: Going places, and going there fast.

fortress craft is intersting. there is a lot of playing around with power, ore gathering, building, temperature change and stuff. they give you a few basic machines and torches, so you can easlily last if you prioritize. upadates are kinda slow, but they are getting quicker, although i think they should have made a ton of updates long ago.
pros:
- in-game help guide for noobs
-changing of temperature, power usage, power gain, etc.
-lots-o-machines
-exploring in caves is a must, or you wont get far.
-upgrades!
-easy-to-use power exchange sytem.
cons:
-only 1 way to die
-no hostiles
-no health
-no challenge really
-upadates are hard to come by
you try it out for yourself. if there was a neutral button, i would have been pressing it

This game has quite a few negative reviews and i have to say not all points are justified.

I really enjoy this game (i only play on survival) and it's a verry good spin on the many voxel block games out there first off it's not focused on being creative as in making big castles etc ( i guess you could but there are other games that are better at this) Where this game shines is in optimizing your base you're building a huge factory/mining operation and everything needs to be powered by different means which makes it a little of a puzzle game in my opinion.

people have commented on the fact that the tier 1 takes too long and it's too hard to get to tier 2. I have to say i love starting over and beginning from scratch I actually do so after every bigger update (even though it's usually not even necessary).

other people have commented that the development is too slow or non existent and although it may seem like this the last few months if those same people would follow the twitter they would see what the devs are really working on and at this point that is mobs and battle this is not a small task so the smaller quick updates may be gone for a while untill this is done.

I'm not saying this game is perfect yet (far from it ) but isn't that what the early acces warning is for.
Too many people ragg on the early acces games giving negative reviews for things that are bugged etc that comes with the territory. People pay money for something and expect it to be a fully functioning completed product even though there is a big blue warning saying EARLY ACCES. Guess what i just bought a house thats not even finished building yet and i'm not at the construction site with a big sign saying this company sucks my house doesn't have a roof and the toilet doesn't flush etc. same thing.
