As someone who has owned every NASCAR game since 1998, yes even the weird ones on the Wii a couple years ago, I can say that without a doubt, this isn't the best one. But it isnt the worst by a far bigger margin. Yes, it has issues, and yes, every NASCAR game made by Eutechnyx has been plauged with issues out of the gate, but this one isn't that bad. The worst part of this one, which is a big part, is the AI. This year they made the AI difficulty a slider from 0-100% rather than the old Easy, Medium, Hard, etc. However, while it says 0% = Easy and 100% = Hard, it varies by track. You start off at Daytona, a restictor plate track where drafting is a must to win or even pass. So my first instinct was to put it at 100%. After all, like I said, I've played them all since 98, I know how to race the cars in these games like it was second nature to me. So I race at Daytona, 100% difficulty, and I dominate. Led every lap without trouble, and mind you, this is in my career car with a refurbished engine. But then, I get to Phoenix...and then the trouble starts. I qualify on the pole, and right out of the gate, Im getting passed, cars and plowing into me in the corners, its impossible to win. So I crank it down to 50% for Vegas, still impossible to win. So I use 0% for Bristol and I lap the field. Ive tried in increments of 10, 15, 20, 25, & 33. The difficulty varies by track. I dont understand how they could think that this AI in this finished product was even close to where it should be. But, after all that...I still have hope. I have hope that Eutechnyx can do what they did in the past and fix the game over time. If they can fix the AI and a few other small glitches throughout the game, this can be a fun enjoyable, but still challenging NASCAR experience for all. I still do recommend this game, but I recommend that you don't buy it right away unless its on sale on ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ or something. I bought it there on release day for $33 and Im pretty certain I can say that Ive enjoyed it for what it is, and I look forward to enjoying it much more when its fixed.

This game has so many bugs. The developers don't seem to care about their customers. The game came out in Febuary and here we are in the middle of June and there is still no patch. Even though this game is part of the steam summer sale DO NOT BUY IT!!

Game sucks HARD... bought it because i had 15 bucks to burn.. would have rather actually lit the money on fire for more enjoyment. the 60FPS lock is a joke, windows are not in cars, horrible tearing even with vsync on... none of the realism issues were ever even looked at by the dinks who made the game... sorry. Stick with NR2k3- at least you know that the cars handle close, and the AI knows how to race...

NASCAR '14 is a game that is kind of a hot mess as of right now. There are loads of things wrong with it but there is still stuff that they got right, but as of right now I'd recommend waiting for a Steam sale to pick it up and/if it is patched up.

First, here are some of the things it does wrong:
*Feels like a carbon copy of NASCAR the Game 2013, so if you own that then there really is no big upgrade here.
*Performance issues with some significant frame rate drops (go from 60 FPS to around 10 FPS mainly because it overworks the CPU, if you have an i7 this probably won't be an issue but I noticed that even changing the display settings to low still creates the drop in FPS.)
*The engine noise sounds pretty bad IMO.
*The AI lacks any sort of knowledge whatsoever and drive like they are drunk sometimes.
*The soundtrack is horrible.
*Extremely buggy, ranging from pit stops not doing what you ask (i.e. asking for two right tires and instead gives you four tires), camera turning to the left for a split second randomly, and even places on the track (apron entering turn 1 at Talladega) that cause you to flip your car randomly. Also the points system doesn't really work correctly either, I have drivers who have more points then drivers three positions higher then them.

The main thing they got right was that the tracks really feel nice. The atmosphere of the track itself is really supurb, hearing the chatter from the broadcast into the stands down the frontstretch, the giant television screen on the backstretch at Charlotte showing the camera angle from your car on it, the actual scoring towers actually show the correct position everyone is in, etc.

Even with all of these issues I still find it rather fun to play but it really doesn't do NASCAR justice. If you played any of the previous two/three (since 2013 = Inside Line for PC) then you can skip over this one. I picked it up to basically see how Eutechnyx NASCAR game was since I haven't purchased a NASCAR game since NASCAR '09, and I probably won't again until either Eutechnyx actually makes it right or a new developer works on it from now on.

NASCAR 14 is a glossy visually appealing console game designed for the casual gamer, not the hard core simulation gamer.

This was my first NASCAR game since NASCAR 4 (circa 2001) and, compared to NASCAR 4, calling NASCAR 14 a simulation is false advertising. NASCAR 14 is a game console port, designed to appeal to the casual gamer who wants to be a Jimmie Johnson or Jeff Gordon from the start. NASCAR 14 has great graphics, fun racing and some spectacular replays, but........ if you want realism, go and get NASCAR 4. It is extremely unrealistic in terms of damage and pitting on cautions, I was treated to a replay and then the option to pit BY PRESSING A BUTTON (which I never got to work). No worrying about pit road speed or hitting your stall or about being blocked out by another pitting car. Also after accidents including flipping my car, I was able to remain competive and didn't even lose a lap!

If you want realism or an immersive environment, don't get this game.

A career mode that implies you need to worry about sponsorship.
Great graphics
Nice music (NASCAR 4 had none)
Little skill required to play.
Ease of changing assists (i.e. it is not either all or nothing)

Career management is largely impotent due to very little impact to your finances even if you mess up your car on a practice session
Other drivers seem to be perfect and never crash. Sometimes bad things happen and sometimes you benefit and sometime you don't. In this game it is all in your hands
Little realism, no need to adjust your car to your driving preference. Go ahead and put all that weight on the front right tire, it won't blow at all! No need to spend time balancing your car to minimize tire wear while balancing it with the need for more speed.

First off let me say... I am not a hater, I really wanted to like the game and was pulling for EXT to pull it off. BUT...At the price of $49.99 I would not recommend this game. I have played the game for a few hours and it's already getting old. It's basically the same game as NTG 13. but this one actually works properly (so far). Several things in this game that I just simply scratch my head over... There is no career stat tracking, The AI is (improved) but very unpredictable, there are two cars with the #16, and two with #7, and two with the #9? Positives... The game looks good. That's about it. Negatives. It's the same game as the three that came before it, with very few improvements. It's interface is difficult to navigate around the sound is very unrealistic, net music is worse, the cars drive very unrealistic. It's just unfinished. It's has potential to be a good/fun game but as the previous three Nascar games did... It falls way short.
