I am just starting to learn, so will ammend this review later. I just bought this though, mainly because on the forums when I was asking questions about this program and curious as to whether it would be a good buy, the developer immediately responded to me concerning my interests. He continued to communicate when I had more questions. So i bought this immediately, knowing that the developers are actually invested in their product -- unlike some things on Steam *ahem* Godmode *ahem*...

Between the website and the program itself, you are offered all the info you'll need to start learning how to sculpt/model, or so it seems. I'm a complete noob and excited to learn.

After having a few run ins with Technology recently I was very disappointing when I brought this program for no reason it would not launch. Due to the nature of the program there wasn't much help from other users out there, however after posting on the Steam Forum the Developer gave me some help. Unfortunately the program still failed to launch after which the developer sent me vie e-mail a none Steam version and it worlds great. All this withing 24 hours of purchase. If other companies had customer service this quick and friendly the industry would be a better place!

The good.
Curvy 3D introduces another way to sculpt, creating basic shapes, mergin and detailing then with a advanced autosubdivision making a more intuitive and fastest workflow, getting the same results in less time than his big and expensive brothers.

The bad or not.
The bad point is the lack of tutorials, the first day with it may be really frustrating for experienced artists by the different workflow...
After all take in mind it is a sculpt tool, Curvy 3D is really weak for texture painting.

Reasons to like Curvy:
1- Can I run it? Yep... Curvy runs on nearly anything, doesn't even need separated ram. Desktop, Laptop, Windows Pro Tablet... it doesn't matter (This benefit probably requires the UI to be barebones.)
2- What are licensing restrictions? None. Short of trying to sell Curvy's code, UI, or pictures associated with it... the License is quite friendly. If you can make money commercially with Curvy, then do it. There's no cap limitations.
3- It has a Wine option for Linux users
4- It has increasing and decreasing geometry tools in fractions.

Reasons not to like Curvy:
1- You don't own a tablet
2- You can't draw well enough that other people know what you are drawing
3- You wouldn't watch videos on how to use this software unless it would keep a zombie apocalypse at bay.
4- You don't like drawing living things

So, I've been using this software on-and-off again for about two weeks now. It's a fantastic tool for doing curvy objects -- think humans, vases, crab-alients, tribbles, squirrels, etc. It is NOT really a tool you would expect to use if you were carving, say, a house or other strict geometric objects because the port to .OBJ leaves you too many extra vertices to clean up.

Of course, if your video game takes place in a Dr. Seuss world, maybe that is the house for you.

When it comes to quick, rounded objects and characters, this software compares favorable to it's competition (in my opinion) as it allows you to easily rock between low and high poly, do intrecate detailing, add textures, add bones, and then port to .OBJ (and only .OBJ I might add).

It serves a singular purpose, so it's not as broad as it's competitors. But then again, it's not as expensive. And when it comes to putting out quality meshes, the tools in this program are up to the task.
