Curvy 3D gets 64bit Advantage

I am happy to announce that Curvy now supports the huge memory advantages of upgrading to 64bit.

32bit systems only allow for 4Gb of memory - which can get quickly eaten up by a sculpting app with millions of polies. 64bit lets the app use as much memory as it likes - perfect for complex 3D scenes.

If you run a 64bit system Steam will now automatically run the 64bit version of Curvy for you.

FEATURES

Sketch based modelling
• Draw an outline to create a fully rounded 3D model immediately, then draw more outlines to refine the shape. Curvy 3D Volumetric

Join Parts Smoothly
• Separate shapes can be merged together to create a continuous skin.
• "Boolean And" and Subtract operators can also be applied to cut into a model.

Sculpting by Painting
• Warp brushes add details to the model surface creating bumps and grooves as you paint.
• Includes Inflate, Deflate, Pinch, Smooth and Flatten brushes. Easy Curve Modelling Tools

Easy Curve and Mesh editing
• Soft move tools let you shape curves and meshes by dragging them with your mouse while the model updates in realtime.

Image Based Sculpting
• New Image Inflate tool takes a silhouette or greyscale image and produces a 3D model using Heightmap, Bubble, Bevel and Extrude styles. Most of the pieces of armour in this screenshot were created from Inflated Images. Realtime Displacement Maps

Adaptive Subdivision Sculpting
• Meshes divide as you sculpt putting the detail exactly where you need it and keeping the overall triangle count down. You can even reverse the process where needed with a new mesh simplification tool.

Painting in 3D
• Paint on colour, specular, and bumpmaps in either the 3D views or on the 2D textures.
• Use a variety of brush shapes, a dropper tool and a smooth brush to work on texture maps.

i think this is a good for modeling but you will need to give your self time to learn all the tricks and most new designers fail at that. (i did and most of my friends that have this softwere) now after some time i have started to use this again and if you go over some tutorials and videos then this turns into an awesome tool to help you with what ever you are working on

Reasons to like Curvy:
1- Can I run it? Yep... Curvy runs on nearly anything, doesn't even need separated ram. Desktop, Laptop, Windows Pro Tablet... it doesn't matter (This benefit probably requires the UI to be barebones.)
2- What are licensing restrictions? None. Short of trying to sell Curvy's code, UI, or pictures associated with it... the License is quite friendly. If you can make money commercially with Curvy, then do it. There's no cap limitations.
3- It has a Wine option for Linux users
4- It has increasing and decreasing geometry tools in fractions.
5- It is the only 3D program that is ready for 3d work in 4 seconds on my laptop

Reasons not to like Curvy:
1- You don't own a tablet
2- You can't draw well enough that other people know what you are drawing
3- You wouldn't watch videos on how to use this software unless it would keep a zombie apocalypse at bay.
4- You don't like drawing living things

* a 64 bit version is now included, so the million count issues should be a thing of the past.

So, I've been using this software on-and-off again for about two weeks now. It's a fantastic tool for doing curvy objects -- think humans, vases, crab-alients, tribbles, squirrels, etc. It is NOT really a tool you would expect to use if you were carving, say, a house or other strict geometric objects because the port to .OBJ leaves you too many extra vertices to clean up.

Of course, if your video game takes place in a Dr. Seuss world, maybe that is the house for you.

When it comes to quick, rounded objects and characters, this software compares favorable to it's competition (in my opinion) as it allows you to easily rock between low and high poly, do intrecate detailing, add textures, add bones, and then port to .OBJ (and only .OBJ I might add).

It serves a singular purpose, so it's not as broad as it's competitors. But then again, it's not as expensive. And when it comes to putting out quality meshes, the tools in this program are up to the task.
