Version 1.2.2 Released

Hey there!

We're released minor update v1.2.2 for Wrack. Here's a quick rundown of what's changed:

  • Added a new "texture quality" option on the display settings menu. This gives you the option to reduce texture memory usage by scaling the map/mesh textures down 2x (medium) or 4x (low). Hopefully will help fix the crashes some of you have been experiencing.
  • "Texture quality" defaults to Medium. Setting this to High will leave textures unaffected.

Thanks! And happy ːcomicwːːcomicrːːcomicaːːcomiccːːcomickː playing!

Wrack is a "So-so" game. It needs work. The action gets repetitive. Basically you walk into an open room and shoot enemies as quickly as possible to "wrack" up combos. This would be fun if the level design was good. Unfortunatly, the levels are uninteresting and repetitive in which you can get lost easily because rooms look like other rooms. This game needs an in-game map like DOOM, but more importatnly this game needs more refined levels with unique geometry and design. Take a look at DOOM. There are no rooms in each level of DOOM that look alike. Each room had it's own personality and architecture that helped you know where you are. In addition, I wish there were more weapons other than the 5 weapons in the game; which are a sword, pistol, shotgun, plasma rifle, and rocket launcher.

Overall, with limited weapons, repetitive action, and uninspired level design, I cannot recommend this game. It is fun for maybe an hour, but, afterwards, it gets repetitive and becomes a chore to play.

Wrack tries to recreate the old school shooter experience but fails to do so.

It lacks content and variety. It offers 8 levels that will take you 3 hours to complete. There's only 5 weapons and it is your bog standard affair (melee weapon in this case a sword, pistol, shotgun, plasma rifle, and a rocket launcher). There's barely any enemy variety as well as you fight mostly palette swaps of robot spiders and walking lizards, both who make extremely annoying noises. Wrack just feels boring. Guns lack impact, enemies are nothing but repeats, and the level design is amateurish.

Super fun 1st person shooter. Plays with fast pacing like DOOM, has a combo chain score system like BULLETSTORM, and boss battles like PAINKILLER. Recommended!

A clear homage to the old Doom and Quake games. The comic style really stands out and is cool, though the music is kinda of a letdown, really.

Now, do you like your first person shooter games with:
- Lots of speed?
- Many secret areas?
- Ammo everywhere?
- Enemies everywhere?
- Shotgunning said enemies?
- No health regen?
- Skillfull platforming?
- Witty humor?
If you do, this game will be a worthy addition.
