Update 1.9.7.7 is now in Beta testing. Defeat monster spawners!

We have a fun build ready for testing in the Beta branch. Check out monster spawn blocks. Here's a breakdown of the current version.

* Spawn Blocks can be found in Scavenger Mode only (we'll expand this to other modes after testing and feedback).
* Spawn blocks come in two forms: Grey (easy) and Red (challenging)
* Right click on a spawn block to activate it.
* Active blocks will light up and begin flashing.
* Waves of skeletons and zombies will arise from the block.
* If you defeat all the enemies, the spawn block transforms into a loot block.
* If two (or more) spawn blocks are in close proximity, they might cause a chain reaction and all activate!

This build also fixes the bug that prevented players from harvesting their own teleport blocks for re-use.

Please let us know what you think. We're going to be balancing the waves and behavior based on player feedback. We also have more plans for future features regarding spawn blocks, so stay tuned!

Update 1.9.7.6 is live. The console displays more useful information.

- When picking up items from Loot blocks, the items will be displayed in the console.

- Global announcements are now made whenever a player reaches various milestones of kills during a play session. Enjoy a little friendly competition and bragging rights for defeating different types of enemies!

- Global announcements also occur for opening certain numbers of loot blocks.

Currently most messages are sent every 10 occurrences.

We took a little longer than we wanted on this release, but we've already made great progress on the next update. Look for a new build on the Beta branch coming soon!

About This Game

CastleMiner Z is an online coop survival horror game in a block based environment. Travel with your friends in a huge, ever-changing world and craft modern weapons to defend yourself from dragons and the zombie horde!

Game Play

CastleMiner Z is an infinite world filled with deep places to explore, and horrifying monsters to slay. Build structures out of blocks, craft weapons and tools from raw materials, and explore the vast and frightening world around you.

Play by yourself or online with friends in any of these exciting game modes:

  • Endurance Mode: There are tales of a place beyond the mountains where Hell itself has torn through. How far can you get before you succumb to the zombies, dragons, skeletons, or other enemies that thirst for your blood? Run, fight, and sneak your way across dry deserts, snowy mountains, and icy expanses on your quest to vanquish the ultimate guardians of the abyss. In Endurance Mode, the world is randomized each game and the death of your party is permanent.
  • Survival Mode: If you enjoy Endurance, but would rather build permanent structures and defenses, Survival Mode is where you’ll spend your time.
  • Creative Mode: With simplified crafting and the ability to adjust or eliminate the enemy threat, Creative Mode is a great place to build vast structures in peace.
  • Dragon Survival Mode: For those who like their trophies big and their hair singed and smoking, Dragon Survival Mode brings you up close and personal with wave after wave of the biggest, meanest, scaliest brutes in the game.

Worlds can be saved in any game mode (except endurance) so try building a castle with enemies turned off, then grabbing some friends and loading it up with enemies turned on!

-Spent $15

-Played an ugly, boring game for 5 hours.

-got bored

-got angry about wasted money

-never touched the boring, ugly game since.

I would reccomend that ANYONE having thoughts about buying this to take the $15 they have saved for it and THROW THE MONEY DIRECTLY INTO THE TRASH. It will be much more worth it than putting play time into this cumstain of a game. Trust me.

First, I think I have to explain why I love this game. I don't have all but like, under 2 hours logged but this game has a special place in my heart.
Let me take you back to the year 2011. Minecraft wasn't out yet, and my xbox had a red ring of death. So, for that christmas (And my birthday, I also have my birthday on christmas). I got a new Xbox 360, I got on Xbox live, my friend Nich and my friend Ben started telling me about this game called Castle Miner Z. That's when the fun began, see... Before this we didn't have minecraft so we had to play alternatives such as Fortresscraft and total miner. Both games I had fun with, but not to the extent that I had with castle miner z. This game was hard as BALLS! You would die... And die... And die...

But eventually in the timespan I mastered this ♥♥♥♥ing game. The first time me and my "clan" killed a dragon it scared me ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥, but after a while I started to really master it. So for about 5 months we played this game, pretty much everyday for about 6 hours... If I logged a lot of time into this game. Eventually we built a whole ♥♥♥♥ing kingdom with a hierarchy and everything. It was insane, people building and adding on. In the hierarchy, I was somewhere at the top, with my friend Nich being the leader so we were tight. Eventually he decided to give me my own kingdom. So after a while I searched went to this strange floating island and built a guard tower, a church, a hotel, and it was amazing. Another time we went to hell and built a huge underground tunnel. It was great, we dug out holes to kill a bunch of demons. It was great.

After a while, the game began to die down with the release of minecraft on the Xbox. But this game will forever be in my heart for the epic moments of victory we had. But yesterday, 5 years later I bought it on steam... It was good, the framerate was laggy, I don't really like the new inventory system, but I can look past it. I also watched TotalBiscuit's review on the game and, it cut deep. I don't have anything against totalbiscuit in general, but I don't think he understood what it was like in 2011 and 2012 playing this game, it was the best alternative to minecraft we had. The part that really cut me deepest was that part where he ripped on that one song que, maybe it was altered in this version... But the first time I heard that sound que it felt really epic. I was walking out into the world with some other people, and I crossed a desert pass. It felt really amazing.

To wrap this review up, I would only reccomend it to you if you played it on the 360 in that time when you didn't have anything else to play.
Back then I would have given it a solid 8.5/10.

But in the end I think it deserves a solid 7.5 in my eyes.

Welp, it was good, me and my friend got bloodstone tools, diamons and all. Well, we left the world. The next morning we went to play it and it, just vanished. And the worst part was, this happend 2 times. How ♥♥♥♥ing long is it before they fix this ♥♥♥♥, until they fix this, i'll have to downvote this game.

alright. it looks like ♥♥♥♥♥. it's minecrafty but it does its own sorta thing. considering it got a PC adaptation should show us all something. now if you have minecraft you'd feel like this game sux. it does not. actually its more of a cheap alternative. like buying that not lego brand lego, you know the ones. they're cheap. they feel cheap. they are quickly made. you start building and you can't quite get it right but in the end you have fun with what you bought. just try it. you will or will not like it. so... judge lightly...

Honest review, the game isent to to bad. I used to play the game on xbox, and when i saw it on Steam i was very excited. For one the community isent that good. If you join a game with pvp, you get kicked if you kill someone. If you host your own game, prepare for greifing and your crates being ramsacked. It is basicly minecraft with guns but there are better mechanics (inventory, crafting, block stacking etc.) The guns are unbalanced. The assault rifle is the only gun i can kill dragons with. But the other guns are fun to screw around with. And it's fun to shoot everything with the overpowered lazer guns.

7/10 ~ would lazer gun again
