Beta update: 1.9.7.6. A more informative console display.

Our beta server has a new change that we hope players will find useful.

- When picking up items from Loot blocks, the items will be displayed in the console.

- Global announcements are now made whenever a player reaches various milestones of kills during a play session. Enjoy a little friendly competition and bragging rights for defeating different types of enemies!

- Global announcements also occur for opening enough loot blocks.

Currently most announcements are made every 10 kills. Or every 5th kill for rarer things like Aliens.

Is there anything else you'd like to see in CMZ's console text?

Update 1.9.7.5 is live! Want extra pockets for the things you love?

- We added a second Item tray! Toggle between trays by pressing G.
- By popular request, you are now able to rebind the Number keys.
- Fixed mouse sensitivity slider to work as expected.
- Right clicking on doors while holding a pickaxe will no longer harvest them.
- Added an option to not have the second item tray faded. Helps performance.
- Fixed the Space Rock in loot blocks to be useful in crafting.
- Survival mode loot block rate was reduced again. We're considering turning it way down and leaving Scavenger mode as the choice for loot blocks.

Curious about that second item tray? Here's a dev post talking about it:

About This Game

CastleMiner Z is an online coop survival horror game in a block based environment. Travel with your friends in a huge, ever-changing world and craft modern weapons to defend yourself from dragons and the zombie horde!

Game Play

CastleMiner Z is an infinite world filled with deep places to explore, and horrifying monsters to slay. Build structures out of blocks, craft weapons and tools from raw materials, and explore the vast and frightening world around you.

Play by yourself or online with friends in any of these exciting game modes:

  • Endurance Mode: There are tales of a place beyond the mountains where Hell itself has torn through. How far can you get before you succumb to the zombies, dragons, skeletons, or other enemies that thirst for your blood? Run, fight, and sneak your way across dry deserts, snowy mountains, and icy expanses on your quest to vanquish the ultimate guardians of the abyss. In Endurance Mode, the world is randomized each game and the death of your party is permanent.
  • Survival Mode: If you enjoy Endurance, but would rather build permanent structures and defenses, Survival Mode is where you’ll spend your time.
  • Creative Mode: With simplified crafting and the ability to adjust or eliminate the enemy threat, Creative Mode is a great place to build vast structures in peace.
  • Dragon Survival Mode: For those who like their trophies big and their hair singed and smoking, Dragon Survival Mode brings you up close and personal with wave after wave of the biggest, meanest, scaliest brutes in the game.

Worlds can be saved in any game mode (except endurance) so try building a castle with enemies turned off, then grabbing some friends and loading it up with enemies turned on!

Me and my friends saw this game, and said: "Alright, time to play rip-off minecraft." We actually had a little fun. Of course, im still homeless from TF2, but i refunded this game for 2 Snicker Bars, so im now less hungry than i used to be.

The game is a good time waster, but is up with the "Ran out of memory" issue. I was in the middle of a 2 hour build in "Creative" mode and now its all gone because apparently my 16GB machine was drained from all its memory from this game.

I played this game when it was released for Xbox. It was a cool game. I see they have made updates to the game since then which is even cooler. I like the new fly mode. My only suggestion is that there be more building materials and designs available, wall selections are in need of more options. Also not sure if it is a bug or what but my game closed earlier and gave me an error message saying that the game ran out of memory. I have 16GB of memory and this computer is a fairly new Desktop.

CastleMiner Z has been around for years and started of very well. It was released on Xbox 360 and people enjoyed it for what it was. Later down the line it was put on steam a year after. More attention was given and when there is good there is always bad. People thought the game was empty so hate started spreading. The game seemed dead but after 2-3 years the devs started to carry on the potential of CMZ. Many people's faces were happy again. Including mine.

Yes the game may be like minecraft but thats just because of blocks and mining. The game itself has many other things that make it unique than to call it a ripoff. Guns, different enemy types of the same species, different blocks, graphics, concept and there's more. However the multiplayer is still continued since those 2-3 years. Servers can be hosted with a few clicks and played on for as long as you want. You can have it only open to friends or for anyone. There is almost no lag at all either! The game isnt hard to run, even easier than minecraft.

Overall, i think this game is amazing. Now that the developers have brought it back it put's a smile on my face. The whole concept is good and the devs do listen to their players. Content is added frequently and bugs are fixed loads. You would be stupid to call this a Minecraft Ripoff. Have fun mining!

Its amazing and also if you go to about 3,500 blocks (upper right) with the compass pointing green up then you will find miners haven. its quite a trip. there you will find coal, copper, iron, gold, diamond, bloodstone etc etc! past that at about 40,000 i think note: THINK that there is this thing called "Lantern Land" and its like really good or something, i dont know well i hope whoever views this finds this review helpful!

CastleMiner Z has its ups and downs, mainly downs, but that doesn't stop me from enjoying it. I enjoy it because I used to play it on the Xbox 360 with my friends, and it gives me a tiny bit of nostalgia. The PC version of the game has had more updates and therefore has more content, so that just makes the experience even better for me. The point I'm trying to make with my review is that if you've never played this game before, you might be able to get into it, but you probably won't, and if you've played it before, this version of the game is even better.

CastleMiner Z introduces a completely new genre to the gaming industry, in which a player is set in a randomly generated sandbox world with nothing but blocks to survive and thrive. It also has zombies. Also never done before. and Skeletons with Bows. Never seen it. You can also go to a hell-like underworld with zombies and fortresses. This is like the greatest game ever made. broke the scale, I can't even rate.
