More Information on what AGFPRO is and what you can do with AGFPRO

  • Users are able to create game levels and maps using the software and also place characters (provided with the software) to play and explore their levels with multiple player style options (Action Role Playing, Platformer, FPS)

  • Just to be CLEAR – AGFPRO is NOT a game engine. It is literally made using the Unity game engine. AGFPRO is a real-time, RAPID Game Environment Development Toolkit and is made to be used in concert with Unity Free and Pro for level/map creation. – However, AGFPRO does NOT need Unity to run or create levels/maps.

  • The scene files that users create in AGFPRO “Basic” and “Premium” can be imported into Unity4 Free and Pro using our AGF/Unity tools.

  • By using the DLC we have already released for AGFPRO (Fantasy Side-Scroller & Zombie FPS), users are able to create playable levels with AGFPRO (only – not viable with Unity) with a variety of characters, assets, gameplay mechanics and special feature, “Scene-Linking” to connect game levels

  • There are limitations to some asset packs “locked (L)” that limit the users from loading these assets into Unity. All unlocked asset packs are free of copyright and can be used via Unity for redistribution per the terms of the EULA ttp://media.wix.com/ugd/43457c_ee338ac5b4f644eb8b432518a8bb3d79.pdf

  • The redistribution or “sharing” of the games users are able to make using AGF and DLC “Players” is a feature we are working on at this time and will be made available to users at no additional fee

  • Users are also able to create and place specific game play mechanics that are provided in the software

  • Full customization of your levels and maps is possible with AGFPRO Premium and Unity Pro, whereby users are able to bring in their own assets and models to make their games unique and further commercialize, making a complete Stand-Alone game

What are the limitations of AGFPRO?

  • If you are interested in making a complete Stand-Alone game with unique characters, models, assets and game play mechanics not provided in AGFPRO and commercialize it for sale, you will need the AGFPRO Premium and Unity Pro software

  • If you are a development team using AGFPRO + Premium, you will need one seat per team member using the software, but we do offer studio discounts, so be sure to contact us for special pricing

Game factory does not make games. It is a level / world design tool. A really good level / world design tool for Unity based games. You see everything in real time. You can play test your levels, run around and stuff, but its not a game, just a level / world design tool. However, calling yourself Game Factory was slightly misleading, but whatever. On the forum, the developers hint at wanting to one day make it a stand alone game engine, but I'm not sure if its a hint or misleading. Since they call it Game Factory, I have to lean toward the potential of misleading here.

You can make some really great looking, lush environments. The tools are easy, robust and look fantastic. The video tutorials are great and explain a lot, even if they could be sped up a little for more advanced users.

The DLC packs offer a lot of variety. The FPS add on offers lots of great features, but there are already a lot of great FPS level editors out there. Game Factory FPS DLC expedites level creation with prefab rooms ala the Elder Scrolls editor, instead of having to make every wall.

Worth it if you're a level designer, but to the average kid expecting to make a big game, nope. Look at actual game makers, Unity, Cryengine and Unreal. As for Unity, its simple enough to pick up and design for, so this is a great benefit.

I have respect for the developers and respect for the tool, but I'm just warning people. It's not what you think it is.

OK first of all I will declare that I have become good friends with the designer of this program, now having said that I have to say that Axis game factory has redefined what a game creation tool can be, having dabbled with a few over the years.

It's the first program of it's type that seems to make the process of map creation and asset management more of a game in it's own right than a technical chore. from intuitive and well orderd menues sliders and buttons to the most robust and forgiving undo feature you can imagine. add to that the teams willingness to keep improving and growing the editors functionality, and you have a program to not only enjoy but look foward to it's future growth.

if your new to games creation or even if your used to modeling and texturing that terain by more traditional methods I would urge you to try the demo and let it speak for it's self. And I would be surprised if you don't find your self getting lost in the shear fun of building a map it really can be that compelling.

also planned for the very near future is integration with the steam workshop so users can share maps , textures and other assets for free and for sale and you have massive potential for community and tallent sharring across user groups and platforms.

(just for the sake of clarity they don't pay me to say this :D im just that impressed with the way this program is going so happy creating and roll on the workshop integration)

Axis Game Factory is a level editor made with Unity3d that does pretty much nothing you can't do with Unity itself and maybe a few packages from its asset store.
Those packages will be cheaper than the Premium License for AGFPro.
Remember that this tool does not give you the ability to create games, just levels for some default characters.

Definitely not worth the price.

An excellent tool for beginners and intermediate game-makers alike. Especially with the recent DLC's, this utility is a great piece of software that introduces the user to an easy-to-use 3D environment designer. The process isn't what I would call speedy, as adding detail takes quite a bit of time, but making a basic hall, platformer level, or exploration environment is doable in a few hours.

Tools are extensive and complete, and there is a huge variety of environment objects already designed and created. Accessing the latter is as simple as clicking "Load All" on the right side of your screen, and selecting a category to view and draw from.

My only gripe is that movement for the pre-programmed players is clunky -- movements last a little longer than the duration of the key-press or command, jumps are ridiculously huge, and the physics of the jumping is off (the ability to change the direction of your movement vector in midair to be specific).

I fully support this software, and I look forward to seeing it develop and get better and better over time. The developers are all invested in the project, and are engaged with the community answering questions, helping, encouraging, and really being fantastic.

Even if you posses no programming skills, this program is easy to use, and easy to master. Everyone should try it.

Hoping that some of the issues will be fixed so this review is only for the version as it stands now

Hi

As a Unity 3D developer I have to point out the interface is incredibly frustrating to use. This application as designed specifically for unity and I find moving the viewport camera around clunky why not try to mimic unity's camera controls for developers who are already familair with moving the camera in unity when sculpting terrain the camera moves in the direction of the mouse click , making it very difficult to be precise.

The placement tool is more focussed on placing actual objects than prescision , and you have to select the ability to select a placed object , and even with the shortcut buttons (holding down ctrl and pressing space) it is very difficult to get the prescision with the mouse wheel for your rotation and scaling (but it might just be my very expensive mouse acting up.

The assets loaded on to the engine seem very repetitive and redundant, and it would have been nice if we had some texturing options for the various materials the object is composed of.

Here are my recommendations for making this much better for unity developers

1. The click and camera moving towards the mouse click thing has to go , it does not work well on any level of sculpting (for object placement if should be optional
2. Moving around the environment , please mimic unity's style everyone who wishes to use this software should get used to it
3. Objects placement , when placing castle objects you are not able to zoom back to the ground without goign into prefab design mode then going back to design mode,
4. Terrain sculpting, a limit to how high your current brush can sculpt would be nice , making a slightly elevated flat section is not as easy (I might not have found the tool yet)
5 And this is probably where this software could pull the golden win , the ability to create prefabs from content packs fantacy / sci fi / vehicle , I like the idea of being able to create a building and then port it in various stages to my unity game.

For instance if i am able to build a level 1 building design it texture it and send it through to unity then go on to the second level for that specific building , or build diferent kinds of spaceships with powerfull texturing options like Spore for example

From the kickstarter campaign to the actual delivered product this is quite the let down in terms of what the vision was for this software

This is not a Game Factory (yet) but an advanced terrain prototyping tool prior to loading your project into unity and making it an actual game (using actual code, AI development) which i dont mind.

I know its easy to critisize and for the price measured against other unity assets i can certainly not complain

I am sure in the future we might see even greater things from this kit and taking all things into consideration I would recommend this kit for its terrain layout abilities and for what it might become
